Auto Assembly 2012 Weekly Update - Seven Weeks To Go!

As Auto Assembly 2012 draws closer, it's time for us to start bringing you a series of weekly updates on the convention to give you all the latest news and developments and to re-cap some of the events that have taken place this week as we build up towards Europe's Largest Transformers Convention which is taking place over the weekend of 3rd - 5th August in Bimingham, England...

Seven Weeks To Go

The convention is drawing closer and is only seven weeks away. Tickets are selling at a record rate and while we have said this repeatedly over the last couple of months, we are well on track for a record year. Bookings are almost 60% up on this point last year and we know that there are a lot of you still leaving it until the last minute before getting your tickets. Please don't leave it too late as we don't want any of you to miss out on this year's convention!

For those of you who have never been to Auto Assembly before but are worried about the cost, Auto Assembly is a lot more affordable than you might think. Once you have paid for the ticket itself, apart from your food, drink, travel and hotel bill there is nothing more to pay apart from anything you want to buy from the dealers. All our workshops are included in the price, the tickets get you access to the entire convention and there is no charge for autographs from our guests and you also get the convention magazine, litho, comic and more gifts free so you won't go home empty handed!

With rooms at the Hilton only costing £50 a night for a single inclusive of breakfast (or £60 for a twin/double) it's a lot more affordable than you might think, no matter where you are travelling from!

Kitbash Workshop Convention Exclusive

You can't have failed to see the attention that we have received over the last week for our convention exclusive Marlboor head kit for Generations Wheeljack that has been produced for us by Calloway Customs to accompany this year's Kitbash Workshop. These have been selling at an incredible rate and they are now close to being a total sell out!

They are only available to Auto Assembly attendees and those of you who have ordered our Non-Attendee Pack (for those of you who can't make it to the convention) and we have four types of packs available. The Gold Kits contain a painted head, sticker set and Generations Wheeljack toy; the Silver Kit contains the painted head and sticker set; the Bronze kit contains the painted head and the Basic kit is for an unpainted head.

The Gold kit (which is only available for physical attendees) is down to the last few copies, we now have less than 20 Silver kits left and approximately 15 Bronze kits. Unpainted heads are not as limited but you need to hurry to avoid disappointment. Remember that orders are limited to one kit per person plus a maximum of two Basic head sets.

Competitions

Next week we'll be bringing you all the details about the competitions we'll be running at Auto Assembly 2012 and how you can enter them... our Kitbash Competition, Writing and Art Competitions and - one of the highlights of the convention for the last few years - our Cosplay Competition, which is being sponsored this year by Big D's Toy Chest.

Non-Attendee Pack

Not able to make it to the convention this year? If you still want to be a part of Auto Assembly 2012 don't forget that you can get our Non-Attendee Pack which contains all of the great stuff from our goodie bag including autographs from our guests, our exclusive A2 litho print and lots more besides. You can order this from the website now!

Sponsorship / Advertising

We're still looking for companies who may be interested in sponsoring us or advertising with us here at Auto Assembly. We have some fantastic opportunities to suit ALL budgets ranging from adverts on our website, sponsorship of our display banners that we have had produced right up to guest sponsorship or advertising on / sponsorship of our convention comic or convention exclusive litho. These are fantastic opportunities to reach out to a wide range of Transformers fans so get in touch if you are interested!

Auto Assembly 2012 Prize Draw

We are working on details for a VERY special prize draw that will be taking place at Auto Assembly 2012 during the Closing Ceremony on Sunday afternoon. To be eligible to enter, you need to be 18 or over, have a full dealer, adult, or elderly weekend pass for the convention and be present at the draw (or have a Non-Attendee Pass). The prize? We'll be announcing this next week, but it's a prize worth almost £300!

Auto Assembly 2013

Yes, we're working hard on Auto Assembly 2013 as well and we are hoping to be able to announce the date VERY SOON! We are in talks with several guests at the moment and once we have the date finalised we'll be announce the ticket prices and opening bookings and - as always - we'll make our first guest of honour announcement at Auto Assembly 2012!

You could have an option for a "Kup's fine Cygars" variant.

Not one I'll use myself but I'll certainly be happy to include it. You've just volunteered yourself to design the logo though I'm afraid mate. Anything in the same dimensions as a certain tobacco company logo that I can resize as needed should fit the bill. Thinking about it I'm not sure that anybody would really pick that option over the original car or toy designs but it could be a handy decal to have for various projects...

No prob, I'll do it.
Will you include the original stickers in this sheet as well? I would rather have transfer decals than stickers.

That hadn't actually occurred to me. Again I'll have to have a word with the local copy shop to see if they can do a high enough resolution scan. I'm not sure how happy the AA or Calloway guys will be with reproducing, even in a different format, part of the exclusive package though. What I had in mind was really more along the lines of an add on rather than a replacement for the stickers. Also transfers will make paint removal essential while the sticker set will probably remove or lessen the need for that stage.

I wouldn't mind removing paint from all the car parts, I just really, really hate stickers.
But yea, I believe it would be pretty sh*tty to do it, Oh I'll just scan in my own and have it printed as a transfer.

I take it that the clear blue wings are there just for show and are not included in any of the packs. None of the decriptions mention them.

They're not supposed to be clear blue.
That pic just shows you what the final toy is supposed to look like with the head, all the stickers, and paint apps. It's a kitbash class toy after all.

I'm getting really creative due to this now, I think I'll start stripping all the paint from my future Marlboro soon and start applying the primer for the to be painted and de-called spots.

Oh man, I'm currently also looking up how to work transfer sheets and might do some testing soon, especially checking which copy shop around me has the best quality transfersheets.

With regards to reproducing the sticker set, this is my stance:

I can't stop you either way, so if you're not profiteering and manage to offer a decent service to the fandom in the process you won't hear me complaining. Best of luck to you.
I think for the negligible price of the sticker set in the pack, most people will be happy to go with that.

Of course, if someone reproduced the head I wouldn't be happy, and I would meet them eventually. This is something I was discussing with Maz the other day and it is always a worry with a hobby as monetised as this one. At the end of the day, the more people who support the add-on kit are supporting future efforts for bigger and better exclusives in the future, and that's something I believe the fans will get behind.

Hotel booked, con and exclusive paid for, transport arranged. Barring spending money I think I'm good to go.

@Banjo-tron, make sure to swap phone numbers ahead of the weekend and pop over for a few cold beverages with the Seibertronian crew on the Saturday.

We're now just SIX WEEKS away from Auto Assembly 2012 and we've got some great news in this weeks update as well as some VERY important information for those of you who haven't booked your tickets yet for Europe's Largest Transformers Convention taking place over the weekend of 3rd - 5th August in Bimingham, England...

Pre-Registrant Prize Draw

We can now announce details of a fantastic FREE prize draw that we are running at Auto Assembly 2012. To be eligible for this draw, you need to have a WEEKEND ticket for the convention (an Adult, Elderly or Dealer pass) or a NON-ATTENDEE ticet and you must be present at our Closing Ceremony that will take place on the Sunday afternoon (although we will obviously make exceptions to this for those with Non-Attendee Packages). You must also have booked for the convention in ADVANCE - it is NOT open to those who pay on the door so it's another great reason to pre-register for the convention!

The prize? The winner will receive two full weekend tickets to Auto Assembly 2013 (the date for which we will be announcing shortly) along with THREE NIGHTS accommodation in a twin or double room at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel!

Because the competition includes hotel accommodation as part of the prize, it is only open to adult attendees aged 18 or over and must be awarded in person. The hotel prize is also for the room and breakfast ONLY. Additional room expenses are to be paid for by the prize winner. No cash alternatives are avaialable for this prize and it is non-transferrable but it is a total package worth almost £300.

Ticket Bookings Deadline

Many of us on the Committee will be arriving at the Hilton a few days before the convention to make sure that everything is ready for all of you when you arrive for Auto Assembly 2012. Also, we want to try to have a few days to relax before the chaos begins! As such, to make sure that we can process all of the bookings in time for the convention, we have now set the FINAL cut-off date for you to pre-register for the convention and to get your tickets.

To book your tickets online for Auto Assembly 2012, you will need to order these through the website by NO LATER than 12:00 noon GMT on Wednesday 1st August 2012. After this time, you will ONLY be able to get tickets for the convention by purchasing them on the day.

Benefits of pre-registration include:

* A personalised pass
* Entry into the pre-registration prize draw
* Early pass pick-up from 12:00 noon on Friday 3rd August 2012

Some on the door places will be available but we do not recommend that you leave booking until the last minute. If you wait until the day itself, you will have to wait while we process your booking so you won't gain admission to the convention as quickly as our pre-registrants!

Also, we want to remind everyone that in 2011 we had almost 15% of our TOTAL attendance figure book their tickets in the final 7 days... do you really want to take a chance and be disappointed this year and miss out?

Kitbash Workshop Convention Exclusive

An update now on our convention exclusive for 2012... the Marlboor head kit for Generations Wheeljack that has been produced for us by Calloway Customs to accompany this year's Kitbash Workshop. The Gold Kits have now SOLD OUT completely and we are down to about 10 of the Silver Kits. They have been a phenomenal success but if you want one of these you are now going to have to hurry. They are available for those attending the convention or those who buy our Non-Attendee Pack but you will need to order yours quickly to avoid disappointment.

The Bronze Kits are also selling quickly, but we estimate that the Silver and Bronze Kits will all be sold out within the next seven days, after which point you will only be able to order the Basic Kits comprising on the unpainted heads. More details can be found on the Auto Assembly website.

Auto Assembly 2013

Next week we will be bringing you some fantastic news about Auto Assembly 2013... it's coming!

As you know, we are producing a convention exclusive comic for Auto Assembly 2012 that will be included in all of the goodie bags that we will be giving away at the event. These bags will be packed with free gifts to make sure that no-one leaves the convention empty-handed, whether you come along with much spending money or not.

The comic, Iacon Independent, will feature work from a range of talented writers and artists and will feature 22 pages of short stories and single page strips spanning G1, Beast Wars, Beast Machines and Transformers: Animated and will have something for everyone and will feature a stunning cover illustrated by Marvel G1 artist Jeff Anderson.

We can now reveal the first teaser image from the comic taken from the story “Youth of Experience”. Set during "The War Within", it sees Hot Rod and Kup team up for the first time. It is written by Peter Williams featuring art by Rui Onishi, colours by Kal Kyle and letters by Andy Turnbull.

I have just emailed 3 Darths comic book store to see if, as a sponsor, they may be getting a few of the limited run convention comic in...?

No such luck as they say they will not be attending this year!
Odd since they are a sponsor? :???:
Re: Auto Assembly 2012 Weekly Update - Seven Weeks To Go! (1393734)
Posted by Simes on June 25th, 2012 @ 9:22am CDT
When a company sponsors the convention, we usually keep them featured as a sponsor in our emails / press releases for up to a year and 3 Darths were one of our sponsors for Auto Assembly 2012. If they come forward and sponsor us again for 2012 then they'll be added to our list of sponsors beyond this year's convention, but the deal that we signed with them last year will come to an end soon.

Sadly, they are not able to join us this year because Nick, the owner of 3 Darths, is a police officer in his "day job" and he is going to be on duty covering the Olympics over the convention weekend so he wasn't able to get the time off to be with us.

With regards to the comic itself, it won't be on sale through any of our dealers. The only way you can get it is by attending the convention, or by purchasing one of our Non-Attendee Packs. If we do have any copies of it left over at the end of the convention, we may make these available afterwards, but we are not guaranteeing this at right now.

Auto Assembly 2012 Convention Comic Preview - Day 2

Following on from yesterday's announcement of the first details of the Auto Assembly 2012 convention exclusive comic, we can now bring you the second preview of one of the strips that you can expect to find in the book...

“A Hard Life” is a short Beast Wars story where Cheetor takes a looks back on his time during the Beast Wars. This story is written by Simon Plumbe with artwork by Paul Vromen and featuring colours Liam Shalloo and letters by Andrew Turnbull.

http://www.autoassembly.org.uk/wp-conte ... -Panel.jpg

More preview art coming soon...

The full colour comic, Iacon Independent, will be given away to every regular Auto Assembly 2012 attendee as part of the convention goodie bags. The comic will also be part of the convention's Non-Attendee Pack for those of you not able to join us this year. It will not be on sale through any dealer or store after the event.

We have very limited advertising space available in the comic for any interested companies. I hope this exclusive comic book will be made available for the fans who cant attend nor afford (right now) the non-attendee package as the teasers look awesome!
There would definately be a market, especially promoted via such websites as this. The fans would jump at it!
Failing that, maybe a cheeky fan would pop a CBR scan down the pipes!! ;) :-$

Right now I can't say if we'll actually have any copies left after the convention so I can't say what would happen with regards to making it available so the only way to guarantee getting it is to attend or get the Non-Attendee Package.

Whether or not we will make it available as a free download afterwards or release part of it in our sister publication CT Alpha (www.ct-alpha.com) at a later date is unknown right now but what I will say is that if we do find that it has been scanned in and made available online without authorisation then we won't produce another one for 2013 or beyond.

Our team have put in an incredible amount of hard work to make this happen and at one point we had very serious doubts that we would be able to do it considering the short timescale we had to get an entire comic written, illustrated and edited but the fact that it has been done is a credit to everyone involved and the last thing I want to see happen is that work being spread beyond it's intended audience.

I would not ask or expect anyone associated with this website to product a scan of the convention exclusive. No naughtiness here sir!

It is well know comic book scans make there way onto the internet for viewing but in know way does this ever replace the look, feel and darn right awesomeness of work put in buy artists and writers of a quality slab of comic book goodness!
Give me hard copy any day (which is why I would love to pick up a hardcover TF Autocracy)!

Auto Assembly 2012 Convention Comic Preview - Day 3

Iacon Independent, the Auto Assembly 2012 convention exclusive comic is shaping up to be something rather special. Although the project was put together at the last minute, it certainly hasn't looked or felt like it with a collection of short stories from a range of writers and artists with something for everyone.

It is a full-length comic with 22 pages of strips - from single pagers inspired by the Mosaic series, to an 8 page epic and this is the focus of today's preview... “Promise of Peace” is a G1 story where Sureshot and Misfire find themselves as captives. But their only way to escape detention, is to try and work together... The story has been written by Bruce Bridges with artwork by Jimmy Brogan.

The comic is only available at Auto Assembly 2012 so to get your hands on a copy you're going to have to book at ticket for the event or order one of our Non-Attendee Packs. Don't forget, you'll also be able to get hold of our other convention exclusive, the Marlboor Kitbash Upgrade Kit for Generations Wheeljack by attending the convention or ordering a Non-Attendee Pack so there's a double incentive to book if the guests and the convention itself weren't reason enough!

As for the comic itself, we have very limited advertising space available in the comic for any interested companies and we are already talking to companies wanting to book pages. The comic will have a print run of 1,000 copies and will be distributed to fans attending the convention from all over the world. If you are interested in promoting your business, website, event or anything else, please get in touch!

With Auto Assembly 2012 just over five weeks away, we thought we'd turn our series of previews over to our convention magazine The Cybertronian Times. The magazine has been running since 1998 and this year we're doing something rather special...

This year the magazine is being printed in A4 format as we have done for the last few years but for the first time ever the magazine is being printed in full colour and is being GIVEN AWAY to all our attendees who will be receiving one of the conventions goodie bags. In previous years the magazine has been sold as an optional add-on to the ticket price with 2011's magazine selling with a cover price of £7 so this is a fantastic bonus gift.

The magazine features a selection of articles, features, profiles on all of this years guests, fiction plus two brand new comic strips and it is these that we want to unveil today. The first story, "The Hunter" is set during IDW's series Robots In Disguise and focuses on Sideswipe where he goes it alone in tracking down a rogue Decepticon, but will his reckless nature cause him even more trouble? Written and illustrated by Ed Pirrie with a supporting team for colours and the strip's cover page.

For most of you attending Auto Assembly 2012 this August - or if you have ordered our Non-Attendee Package - you know that we are giving away a selection of gifts as part of our traditional goodie bag. As well as our regular exclusive postcards, convention magazine, and our comic we are producing an A2 lithograph this year and we are now proud to unveil the artwork for the first time...

Illustrated by Marvel UK artist Jeff Anderson and coloured by Kris Carter, the artwork has been inspired by some of the old comic covers featured on the British Marvel Transformers comics and features Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge. The litho is limited to a print run of just 1,000 copies and is ONLY going to be made available at Auto Assembly 2012 so unless you attend the convention or order a Non-Attendee Pack, you won't be able to get this fantastic piece of artwork.

Image

We were so impressed with this art that it is also featuring as the cover image for this year's convention exclusive comic, Iacon Independent, and we are also producing a postcard based on the original lineart from the card so we think that it's adding up to a fantastic package of gifts.

For all you dealers and businesses out there reading this, we want to give YOU the chance to be a part of this as we have the opportunity for one lucky company to be associated with this lithograph and to sponsor it! You'll get the chance to not only have your company's logo and details featured on the litho, but on the associated postcard as well! We have several package deals on offer linking in with the lithograph which can also tie in with our convention magazine and exclusive comic so YOUR company could be heavily linked with this artwork so what are you waiting for? This is a one-off opportunity to get your company onto a product that will be on display on the walls of fans all over the world! Email us for more details!

This is a bad poster. Galvatron's silhouette is terrible - why hide his right hand behind the cannon? It also looks like he is being goosed by Scourge. Weird scale, his head too big, his expression silly. The fore-shortening of his left arm is bizarre too. He may as well be hoisting a mug of beer.

Coloring is good, inking is good, and the composition is okay. But the base illustration is in dire need of refinement.

Impressed... with THAT? :HEADHURTS:

Out of the three cons, Scourge is cool, Cyclonus is OK-ish, but Galvatron is terrible! And the pine trees are way too small - did they just need to step on a tree nursery? - that is soooo EEEEVIL after all!

I really don't get the hate here guys. I think you need to look at this in context and see that it's a highly appropriate piece for a UK event. The piece is a reworking of the arrival scene at the end of the prologue strip that kicked off the Target: 2006 storyline in the UK Marvel comics. That was the first comic appearance of Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge and the art was based on their toy models, as far as I'm aware the only instance of the toy models being used in officially produced sequential art. The scene has been redone here representing the character models as they appeared from the following issue's Target: 2006, Part One going forward through the next couple of year's worth of UK stories and culminating in Time Wars. The style is very much that of the UK comics from the 80s. This is like the missing link of UK Marvel G1 art and a real blast for those of us who grew up on Furman's earliest TF epics.

Quite aside from any of that Simon will end up buying the original artwork for his comic art collection at the charity auction on the day, as I believe he has managed to do with just about all the original art produced for AA over the years, so this piece will be directly helping out some good causes as well.

My comment was a critique. I actually pointed out WHY it was bad. A piece of art should stand on its own merits, not rely on some written explanation to help prop it up.

That has to be one of the most ridiculous sentiments I've ever come across. By it's very nature art is a subjective medium. All art relies entirely on the context in which it is presented for definition and has no intrinsic merits. A brick is a brick, but take it off the building site and put in in a gallery and you look at it differently. Now I'm not saying that I would read anything other than pretentious twaddle out of said brick in that environment, but that's me and my subjective view, for somebody else the brick's placement would be a statement. You've looked at this convention piece and given it a quick technical appraisal, I've looked at it and found context.

Art IS subjective. And this one is a misfire. If the artist wanted to present it with context, he would've done so. Alas, it has to stand on its own, and it just plain fails as a work of art.

Your overreaction is completely ridiculous. You see good artists having to explain their work to salvage it? No because they actually make good work. They don't hope some guy on the internet will show up to defend their work and provide "context".

The art is bad, and if as much effort went into it as your juvenile diatribe then no one would criticize it.

You're trolling an art major, and I really can't be bothered with it. After this post I won't be responding on the subject any further and if you push the issue I'll just go ahead and block your posts in future. The whole notion you propose of there being 'good' art or 'bad' art shows that I won't be able to sway you to a measured and evaluated appraisal in any instance.

I stand by my original critique 100%. You have a flawed outlook as to what constitutes "trolling". If you can dispense a lengthy argument, but don't like it when someone else does so in reply, then that is extremely self-serving. It's like only YOU can issue their 2 cents, how dare someone else does too!

I wouldn't tout being an Art Major as a defense for your argument, and especially this piece of art. You come off as elitist and entitled. The fact is, I never called you or your education into question, only your argument (what you call trolling).

Majorly bogus mate. I have a JA original comic panel framed on my wall, because he is one of the best UK artists IMO. This piece of work, however, is not on a par with his early work at all. I'd imagine that it was rushed, and no amount of decent colouring is going to detract from the odd proportions used here. There's no need to start issuing threats to people because they have different opinions than you. :BANG_HEAD:

Well said.
I grew up collecting the original U.K. Transformers comic and still own the full collection which still holds a wealth of great art and writing.

Yes there are some rather dodgy takes on out favourite robots.
Jeff has produced some sweet art over the years, but this piece does seem to offer an odd perspective.
I have seen better art from non-professionals being offered via Transformers:Mosaic recently compared to this one piece.

I wonder if Simes @ Auto Assembly would popped for a different piece if offered more? :-?

The stick does seem to get wave quite often when an opinion differs from what this website offers...

Blocking someone means putting someone on your "enemy list", by doing so you block the posts of this person from being displayed to you. So he can no longer see your posts from now on.

This is the image waaaaghlord was referring to:
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:Target_200 ... clonus.jpg

You can see how it homages it, and while I think the poster looks bad, just like 98% of all '80s to '90s TF comic art, I think it's a step up in terms of quality when looking at that Target 2006 image there.

He offered an explanation for why it looks as it does, one that makes sense, but I think another explanation would be that Jeff Anderson simply hasn't done a lot of TF artwork lately and thus well hasn't had a whole lot of practice.
Here's WIP stuff for this poster:
http://www.jeffandersonillustrator.co.u ... 04055.html
http://www.jeffandersonillustrator.co.u ... 04059.html

And man is it disappointing when you look at his other work.

Thanks for the clarification, dude. Waaghlord, I didn't mean any offense. I was just hoping for an awesome A2 print which would compare favourably with Jeff's '80's work. Unfortunately, this does not, IMO. This is the panel I have at home, which is pretty much my favourite TF art.

Anderson's 2000 AD stuff also rules.

Here at Auto Assembly, we like to keep our finger on the pulse of the Transformers community and we have noticed that our recent announcement regarding our convention exclusive lithograph has caused quite a storm! So we thought we would come back to quickly dispel some fears that you may have about this exclusive and correct a couple of (understandable) misconceptions…

As many have pointed out, Marvel G1 artist Jeff Anderson has purposefully drawn the art the way he has to evoke the early Marvel comics run and we can’t thank him enough for his work and the same goes to colourist Kris Carter for his excellent use of colour. Whilst it’s clear that there are quite a few negative feelings toward the art – which we won’t hide from – there have been many positive messages posted on social media sites too. So, just like the Marvel art of old, the fan base is divided! If nothing more, it is nice to see the fan base so vocal and passionate about this issue – because we care and we are glad to see you care too.

Many have asked us about the choice of artist. For the record, we are very happy that an esteemed artist such as Jeff agreed to lend his time to this free giveaway piece for all of our attendees. He didn’t have to, and we are very grateful to him. As for whether another artist could have been approached – that is a difficult area for us; sadly, we are given to believe that Hasbro has restricted artists currently contracted to working for IDW Publishing from producing any work for unofficial events or fan organisations such as ours. As a result, another high profile artist had to abandon the project not too long ago after his involvement was sadly vetoed. We are therefore incredibly grateful to Jeff, who stepped in to help us in our hour of need.

Nevertheless, in spite of everything we say above, we don’t want our attendees to go home with a piece of art they are not entirely happy with. We value your opinion and it is extremely important to us that you have the best convention experience possible. Therefore, we have taken it upon ourselves to make the lithograph into a fully reversible piece! One side will contain the Jeff Anderson artwork and the reverse will contain another piece of artwork which we are hoping to announce in the coming week. This way, fans who are not entirely satisfied with Jeff’s reimagining of his Galvatron artwork from Target: 2006 can simply turn the litho over and have a second piece to display. And likewise, fans who are happy with this first piece of artwork still get to have it on their walls.

We hope this extra measure has gone some way to show that that we want to listen and take on board your comments and suggestions.

Since 2009 more and more fans have been attending Auto Assembly in costume and since 2010 we have held a Cosplay Competition as part of the convention and we are continuing this once again for Auto Assembly 2012!

Last year we had some absolutely stunning entries including TWO G1 Optimus Primes, Drift, Shattered Glass Ravage and our winner, Beast Wars Blackarachnia. The competition will take place as part of our Saturday night programme and it's open to all our weekend attendees and will be judged by some of our guests. There's no limit to what your character can be as long as it is a Transformers or Transformers-related character and it is suitable for a family audience! Want to bring a fully transforming costume along? We'd love to see it!

You can find our more information about the competition in our video on youtube here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8erAFnzosk

There are prizes on offer for the top three costumes chosen by our judges and this year the competition is being sponsored by Big D's Toy Chest who will be providing some great prizes for the winners. The third prize winner will receive a signed Generations Perceptor toy. Second prize will be a signed G1 reissue Prowl and the first prize winner will receive a signed Tick and signed Transformers Animated Sentinel Prime figure!

Entry forms and rules are available to download from the website now!

With over four weeks to go Auto Assembly 2012 is set to be a huge success once again. Since 2005 we have proudly held the attendance record for a European Transformers convention and today we have broken our previous record that we set in 2010! This sets a new landmark for us at the convention as we have only previously set new records or attendance figure milestones at the convention itself.

Bookings are still coming in at a fantastic rate as we are now in our traditional rush period and we have still yet to announce some of the late surprises that we have in store for you. We have some great competitions lined up, another guest to announce, some great announcements for those of you who have been with us for several years, an update on this year's convention exclusive litho and our other exclusives, more artwork from our comic, and much more besides!

Auto Assembly 2012 IS Europe's largest EVER Transformers convention and is taking place over the weekend of 3rd - 5th August 2012 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel. To book your tickets or find out information about booking dealers tables, to sponsor the event or to enquire about advertising with us, visit the website at www.autoassembly.org.uk

Hope to see you there!

We haven't finished yet with all the announcements about Auto Assembly 2012 and I know the mods / admins here are keeping all the news stories / discussions to this one thread to keep everything together.

We have a few surprises in store over the next couple of days though so keep an eye out...!

Jagex To Support Auto Assembly 2012

Online MMO games developer Jagex are busy working frantically on their upcoming Transformers Universe MMO. Back in 2011, Jagex supported Auto Assembly by providing us with a great selection of freebies to give away to our attendees, some fantastic t-shirts which we gave away as competition prizes, and donated what is still our highest fundraising auction items ever.

We're proud to announce that Jagex will be supporting Auto Assembly again this year and, they’ll be bringing boxes of stuff exclusive to attendees of Auto Assembly 2012. They will be given away as prizes in various competitions during the convention and we will also be giving away some in a pre-registrant prize draw. To enter this, all you need to do is book your tickets for the convention IN ADVANCE and you'll be entered (as long as you don't have a Partner or Under 6 pass!).

Then just check your welcome pack on the day and if you have a lucky ticket in there, you've won!

Secondly Jagex will be donating something rather special for our charity auction... They will be providing us with a very special print of artwork from the Transformers Universe game signed by the development team! At Auto Assembly 2011, a similar print that was signed by SIXTY members of the team raised an astonishing £350 and we hope that this one will do the same and we want to thank Paul Mayer and Eddy Dew from Jagex for arranging this.

Finally, we will be giving away Transformers Universe art cards to our attendees as part of the goodie bags this year. Featuring one of two different designs, these have great CGI landscapes on them and are great collectibles from the game.

You can find out more about the game at www.transformersuniverse.com and about Jagex's other online MMOs including the highly-acclaimed RuneScape at their website at www.runescape.com
