The Arker gives us another look at Hasbro's Masterpiece Skywarp in package. While this is nothing new for those who went to San Diego Comic Con 2009 or were following it's subsequent coverage, these pictures give a nice look at the figure for those who missed out. Wal*Mart will be the supplier of this exclusive.
If you're interested in the previous history of this mold, then allow Seibertron.com to inform you! The original Takara Master-Piece 03 Starscream mold can be viewed here. It was repainted into a more 'cartoon-accurate' version, which was the first time the Starscream mold was distributed by Hasbro. Takara also repainted Starscream into Skywarp, and Thundercracker. Hasbro's version of Skywarp slightly differs from the Takara version, as the paint scheme has been altered to be, you guessed it, more cartoon accurate.

MP Convoy can beat 20th Anniversary's butt any day of the week, even without his trailer.

I just hope that Wal-mart here gets it.. seriously, when MP starscream came out it never surfaced here in my part of Virginia! I went to every Wal-mart in my area 3 times a week, just to catch it.. for like 5 months straight, always searching.. but never getting him..
so I just hope Hasbro does a better job of helping Wal-mart distribute him to the stores..coming out that close to X-mas makes it even more of a likely possibility i won't get my grubby hands on it..
Around this part of Virginia, we have tons of 35 to 50 year old guys who scalp the local stores and sell the figures on eBay at a 40% markup! I know, I ran into a few of them during the 1st Transformers movie, when Bumblebee was the hottest toy...
I also ran into them a few times collecting Star Wars Episode 1 figures, Marvel Legends, and yes, yes, even Stinkfas!!

Also, this would never happen but what if H released a chase variant clear purple or clear white Skywarp as a nod to G1?? How nuts would that be?!?!!? I'd want it but it'd be hard to afford -if I saw it I'd have to buy it though before it got scalped out.

The MP stickers now seem to be pain apps and is the purple a slightly different shade?
What are the actual differences?

As it happens, I'll be leaving this one MISB because of the clear front packaging and it can go straight on display so there'll hopefully be less chance of anything bad happening to any stickers.
I guess it would probably have the rounded off wings like MP Starscream as well. I'm going to take a guess and say that the black finish isn't going to be as nice as Takara's MP6, but I won't be able to say for sure until the product is in my hands.

I would be BEYOND pissed if this is a Black Friday release.

Tekka wrote:It's a vastly different shade of purple, the classic lilacy purple used on the original toy instead of the dark pink that I despise, and of course the original toy's style of wing stripes. I really hope that they are actually painted on and not stickers, because I really hate stickers. In all honesty I'd wish they'd abandon the lilac as well and go for a nice deep purple instead.

Thanks. So there isnt a great deal of difference then. I have both Starscreams due to the massive difference between them but not so sure about Skywarp.

Now your speaking my language!! A deep dark clear purple.. hmmm maybe a medium Clear purple, with some white outlines all over it..like someone came in and drew him, and in the center of the body is a slight spray of faded purple and white.. like he just teleported..!!
awesome!!
great idea man!

I wouldnt say it was wasted. I have a very nice totally black Skywarp ( jet mode ) that looks awesome, like a proper model jet. That is why I didnt apply the stickers.
As much as I love G1 I think the clean look is better.

oh but he did, thats how i got him. :p
but yeah hope this one comes as well, it be nice to own all 3 of them eventually.
Posted by Vegitron on August 5th, 2009 @ 11:37am CDT
I hope it's more widely available than Starscream was. What a PITA it was trying to find that one.
Also I wonder if there will be a Takara "USA Edition" which will have the sharp pointed wing tips?

Probably pick up one of him, own the Takara Version and is already displayed. He would just be MISB with my two other Screamers I have.

MagnaBlade wrote:I hadn't heard about this before. That's awesome. Especially for only $60. I might get two like I did with Starscream so I can keep one in the box. Sometimes I wish I had three so could have one in the box, one in bot mode, and one in plane mode.
No wonder I couldn't get one, YOU have MINE GIVE IT!!

Anyway, to those who hoped the stripes are painted and not stickers --i'm gonna guess they're painted. I've seen him twice and here's a pic i took at botcon:
sorry about the clarity, that's as clear as it's gonna get -since the site I posted on may've truncated some of the file size. On my laptop the actual photo is sharper & I'm still led to believe the stripes are painted. I took some quik pix of him at SDCC too, but those aren't sorted out/uploaded yet. (& a few of my friends r unhappy b/c I have costumed shots of them, + hot chix all over, I better get on that, there's just so many ~250!!!)

hope this is a little clearer and the experts can detect paint instead of stickers.
Oh yeah, my running joke with this one is -why didn't Hasbro turn the 'feet' backwards like they're supposed to be??! A MP figure deserves the proper transformation!!

Be that as it may, congrats to Hasbro on reprolabeling it to 1984. Classics Skywarp had this funky scheme to him.
