We see the figures from many angles including the front back, side and even under where we can see the gun storage in van mode. This toy is not revealed by Hasbro yet, but it is an upcoming voyager class toy in the Studio Series line. And with us getting Ironhide, a voyager Ratchet will come eventually. Ironhide will not be an exclusive, but we do not know about the eventual Ratchet yet.

I had the siege Ironhide. next year, Earthrise happened, and I didn't have room for both, so I replaced the siege one. now here we are with a new better option.
at least I wont have the same issue with the inevitable Ratchet release, since I was never able to snag the amazon set.

Sabrblade wrote:I do hope that's just an unfinished version since it's missing Ironhide's traditional yellow stripes.
I hope so too. The lack of the yellow stripes is a bit jarring. You can see where a stripe should go in the line detail molded into the side panels. The way the legs transform should hide the stripes too, so it shouldn’t be a matter of robot mode accuracy to omit them. I wish that the tailgate window was at least painted, but I can see that being skipped if that area still forms the robot mode feet, which do need to be only red for robot mode screen accuracy. Looking at the back bumper, you can see that the left and right halves weren’t painted the same way. The right side either uses a brighter shade of silver or has more coats of paint compared to the left side. The right side also has much crisper edges. This definitely looks like a test shot for paint applications from the factory.

The good: side windows and wheels.
The bad: mismatched colors and the two clear tabs that end up looking like lights.
The ugly: front of the van is eeeww and those hinge bumps on the sides.
Posted by SpaceEagle on August 4th, 2022 @ 12:03pm CDT
But that's a pretty solid looking van, just a bit funny that it took HasTak this long. Third time's the charm, huh?
I'm guessing the clear tabs on top are most definitely for the Ratchet retool, but I do sincerely hope they're a lot less blatant on the final thing.
Also I just barely noticed the hinges, about the only "real" blemish I can see with the vehicle mode. Even then I can easily ignore them and keep in mind it's a retail toy meant to pull double duty as an action figure to help excuse it.
Posted by Sowndwave76 on August 4th, 2022 @ 1:42pm CDT
I’m totally in for this figure, even though I was pretty happy with the ER version.
I don’t even really care that much about the van mode, but even the couple things I question or don’t like aren’t concerning.
And again, definitely excited that Ratchet will use this mold.

They won't. Also, we should know by now that we can't see color matching from pictures since the camera lens will pick up different things than our own human eye. In hand it might match better.
Also, kudos to Hasbro for designing a hinge close to where the side mirrors would be so that it looks less out of place.

Fair point, people said the Sunstreaker paint match was pretty bad but having the figure in hand it wasn't really that glaring.

Still does. Can't believe how it looks good in hands and immediately looks bad in photos. I know why, but still can't believe it

The yellow stripes are something Reprolabels can fix. The mismatching reds ... I dunno why they can't match reds. It's still better than ER, though.

Pretty sure they're just the tabs used to fold the panels together. If they're only for the future lightbar then they should be painted over.

Some say it is and some say it isn't finished, we're going to have to wait for more examples to know for sure. Hopefully it's another case like ER OP who went through a bunch of different revisions in pretty short time before release.

In the alt mode, those huge hinges on the sides of the van are ugly and - as many others have said - lack of yellow stripes is another issue.
I don't think these figurese are worthy their price.

It's pretty much just a sister line to whatever the Generations maineline except it focuses on Movie characters, end of the day, hasbro still expect kids to get these as well. The only true high quality collector lines are Masterpiece and Movie Masterpiece. Oh, and HasLab.

No. It's sold at retail in the kids toy aisle. It's just a retail toyline like anything else and the bulk of sales will come from kids/parents. Anyone expecting more will be disappointed.

Just adding that the only lines that apply to collectors specifically are the Masterpiece lines and the convention exclusives when they were still a thing.
Hell, even the HASLAB toys are for "kids only" according to Hasbro Pulse!

These give us our best look yet at the figure, especially in robot mode. We also get a sense of his height which does fit the G1 size charts. But remember, he will be sold as voyager class. The alt mode is quite beefy though, compared to deluxes and Hasbro already confirmed that the voyager class is also intended for smaller toys which have more parts. Also, there have bee comments regarding the mismatched paint but it's impossible to tell if the paint is mismatched or not since painted surfaced reflect light differently than non painted surfaces making the contrast far greater when seen in a picture than in hand. So it's too early for any comment of the sort. While there is no listing for a ratchet in this size yet, it is bound to happen, and we know that this Ironhide will not be an exclusive.

This figure is looking better and better…
The windshield (& windows) appear to be a slightly darker transparent blue color, giving them a “tinted” effect that I appreciate. As someone else said, there’s no reason to be able to see into an “interior” of nothing but bot bits.
So now the couple can mode issues really don’t matter to me.
I can now say I’m excited for this figure!!

Re: quality, I think it's important to remember that SS86 in particular prioritizes bot mode over alt mode. Obvious hinges and other unsightly alt mode features are par for the course. Even so, it's still much more my speed than ER, so I think it counts as an upgrade even at a higher price point.

Although I do like to.see a comparison with Sure/ER Ironhide. I don't think it's any bigger per day. More detailed, more mass because of a greater parts count, but it still looks like a deluxe taken to the max to try to justify the voyager price. I'm not saying it's bad, just an observation.

I don't think it will be taller either. Siege Ironhide reaches WFC Prime about the same

Seems a tiny bit shorter that Earthrise based on pictures since I don't actually own Earthrise. But looks a but more intricate and with better engineering overall.
So basically a Voyager in the same vein as SS-86 Hot Rod.

AllNewSuperRobot wrote:So that's incoming updates for Ratchet, Crosshairs, DK-2 Guard and Deseeus Army Drone. The latter three in Selects, I imagine?
I wouldn’t set my heart on any of that, least of all redos of Crosshairs and the Deseeus Drones, since they are based on the Siege mold, which was much better received than the Earthrise mold, and it adds more distinction between SS86 Ironhide and Crosshairs, who traditionally are NOT mold mates With regard to the G1 toys and the Sunbow character models. I also don’t expect we’re getting redos of Tigertrack and Deep Cover either, even though the more fitting Kingdom Sideswipe/Red Alert mold is now available to use instead of the Siege “Lamborghini” mold.

Yeah,he is a bit shorter
But the engineering is pretty great on this guy. There's two layers of panels under his feet. The Earthrise deluxe had partsforming and this toy removes that cheat completely. The only other time we've ever had that accomplished was with the MP.

Yeah the panel engineering on the legs and feet looks really well done and compacted.

This is starting to become more prevalent I think/feel, the construction of this new Ironhide closely resembles the cheaper product lines for the budget minded right down to the look of the plastic used. While the internal mechanics might be there in terms of quality/complexity, if the outside doesn't look on par then what's the point? I get that these will never be Masterpiece level quality but for the prices these are selling for these days I'd like a little more attention placed on the outer shells. The gaps and cut lines can really detract from alt modes which is why I very rarely display them that way, in contrast to how the G1 line appeared to look almost seamless when in alt modes. Granted the level of articulation wasn't present back then so there wasn't a compromise needed to fit that aspect into the modes.
While some kids may get these I don't Think it's to the extent everyone thinks, otherwise why bother with the other obvious kid lines? Such as Core Class, or for the Spark line etc. I also don't know that many kids getting $35 action figure type toys when most of them would rather get a smart device or video game. Maybe when a deluxe bot was $16. Heck even when I was a kid getting Transformers was a rare treat due to cost versus Joes or Star Wars figures.

The Prowl rumours are in Legacy, its not so much a rumour as we have the listing for a new prowl, just that no one knows WHICH Prowl it'll be.
Also hasbro state that Generations is made for both adults and kids in mind.
