How is it weird? We've had non-transforming Transformers since 1990.

In general, I'm extremely pleased with the glut of options we have for various AoE molds.

I dont even like the deluxe mold. Overly simple with a fake chest.

Plus, it doesn't scale well with anything. He's the same height as Bumblebee, for crying out loud!
If only the Flip and Change had some decent articulation...

What we need anything is a Voyager Lockdown, one that scales with the Deluxes, but stands tall next to Leader OP. And has all his big car kibble in a backpack like Galvatron, so we can mod it to come off.

As long as he keeps his car front to form his chest plate I wouldn't mind.

Oh well, just a pipe dream.

I wonder what the ROTF version would look like with AOE Lockdown's head and colors?

Even better than a Generations Springer in movie Drift colors.

I still can't believe they didn't remark at all about Drift being a triple changer. But then, that's the level of care we just tolerate with these movies.

Hey, at last they finally understood that the robots should have AT LEAST as much screen time as humans (but obviously, they should be on screen the majority of the time)

Were they? As far as I understand it, the Black Knight versions were mostly black plastic and paint...some tarnished chrome. I can buy that it might have been to distinguish them from Takara versions, but that wouldn't explain Sludge/Slog being included, unless they just wanted another Voyager in the set. But again, as it is, I won't be getting these now unless I see them on clearance or can get the individual figures for a really good price off eBay.

william-james88 wrote:I feel what the general consensus here is that the deco on these figures is interesting and nice, but not what we were expecting or wanted. This is just another skin on these molds. What I find nuts about all this is that, when all is said and done, there will be a bunch of different decos for each figure across the 2 companies, but none that actually shows them as the are in the film. That makes no sense to me.
While I agree with you, I think this is the closest we've gotten to screen accurate decos so far. Swap out the clear plastic for gunmetal grey, and maybe change Grimlocks gold-ish highlights to an earthy/muted brown & teal, and they would be nearly spot-on.
Hope we see something that's entirely screen accurate, but given the tendency to, well, not do that, I can be happy with these (hypothetically).

Why not trying to go the CLASSIC Lockdown route? Meaning a deluxe sized car that transform into a towering voyager high robot? Would this be possible to make it this way AND be movie accurate?

I think the Deluxe Lockdown from ROTF shows us it is possible.

The hard part to do would be making it also as screen accurate as possible.

And for a 3rd Party, to not get sued by Paramount...

I already own Evasion OP and Henkei OP. Not only that, but my new and smaller appartment make me put many TFs in storage. So, the only reason I would buy this two pack is if it's in dirt cheap clearance.

Utilizing the "Butterfly" style of transformation Bumblebee, as it appeared early on in Age of Extinction, is represented here. Basically the toy is a re-shell of Drift with new arms and a new head. A fun figure that could make an excellent desk toy. Highly recommended.

The board game came AFTER the figures. Also...
"Naturally, Takara were not so unwise as to limit themselves to releasing these figures with the game alone: three large box sets were also released encompassing all fifty-three figures that made up the series."
The game was essentially nothing more than "Compare the numbers. Higher number wins." Very similar to Bot Shots, but with no transformation.
"The figures were also available individually, through "gachapon" capsule machines, in a variety of different colors including red, blue, yellow, green, orange, sky blue, pink, tan and white."
"In 1987, Hasbro imported the figurines and branded them as "Decoys", randomly packaging them with the smaller carded toys of the time."
Spin it any way you want, the fact remains: Takara has been making non-transforming TF figures since 1985, and Hasbro's been selling them since 1987.

The 2014 is miss transformed. The arms flip out more giving a bicep and wrist swivel. Like I said not so much better than different.

I know he is mistransformed because I have him.I am talking about the overall look not poseability. If you count the poseability, then yes he is better than high octane.Other than that, no, not really.
