I'm just going to assume the lack of Ultra Magnus on that list means he's already planned.

The only one on that list that I want to see is God Ginrai.

Although a Victory Saber would be cool, I'd vote Primal. Hopefully it would be a foot in the door towards more BW Masterpieces. Despite how great toyline was let's face it, the show characters from the first season got screwed over. Hardly any of them were in scale, they had incorrect colors, and their designs were often inaccurate. I also hope Takara would do BW masterpieces on a smaller scale, they really don't have to be very large. Also, just a random idea. But Beast Wars is actually a great candidate for a masterpiece line. Considering how few characters were actually in the show, that could mean a complete Beast Wars masterpiece lineup

As far as I'm concerned, Beast Wars Telemocha Series TM-01 Convoy is already "Masterpiece Optimus Primal" enough, being show-accurate enough in size, color, and mold. 8)

as much as id hate to have another optimus i have to go with either Primal or Lio, so tired of G1 MPs its time to change things up a bit. Beast Wars is about as different as you can get.

Dai Atlas. As cool as a MP Fort Max would be, and could possibly lead to a release out here, which would be nice to see, I wants me some Dai Atlas.

Ugh.

G2 Sideswipe is somewhat ridiculous; I was happy to get Tigertrack, but announcing a 4th version of this mold very much gets on my nerves. How about Soundblaster + Ratbat? We do only have *one* Soundwave mold so far.

As for the fans' choice MP - WTF? :BANG_HEAD:

Do we really need another Optimus or Autobot leader? Whatever happened to *faithfully* assembling the 1984 lineup? How about creating a solid response to FanToys QuakeWave? Or a response to iGear's Weapons and Medical Specialists? Maybe make a v2 Megatron? Or, really, anything else we've been actually clamoring for? Voting in this limited show setting with only Japanese input seems to put the rest of the fandom out, doesn't it?

Sorry to be a debbie downer, but seriously... just Ugh.

man, every time i see MP prowl, bluestreak, and smokescreen together.. my heart skips a bit lol.. they're just so perfectly perfect.

prowl was my second favorite design back in G1.. and i think they captured him beautifully.

i really can't express how excited i am for these. i really think they knocked smokescreen out of the park.. from the front end, to the head, to the shoulder missiles.. it's like they just stuck their hands into the tv and pulled these guys out. it's awesome.

as far as the masterpiece poll goes..

i'm definitely not voting for fort max.. i really had no connection to him as a kid. also.. he's just too big. he's not going to fit in with any of the other masterpiece figures because they're definitely not going to keep him in scale. and if they did.. i, along with many others i'm sure, wouldn't be able to afford it. i mean, hell, hot toys is having trouble thinking of a way to release the bad from TDKR. (or maybe they've scrapped it, i'm not sure)

i would probably vote for lio convoy, big convoy, or rid prime. and, i know it's not a choice.. but i think an MP, screen accurate movie prime would be pretty neat.

i do wish this were more of an open poll. i'd like to see them tackle a combiner (devastator in particular) i think it'd be a nice response to the 5 recently released/upcoming autobots.

but other than combiners.. i'd actually like to see the coneheads.. i think they're a nice choice of beefing up the decepticon ranks. plus.. how awesome would all of the seekers look when displayed.

Call me outdated, but this is my conclusion:

WINNER: Star Saber
RUNNER-UP: Super Ginrai/Powermaster Optimus Prime

In the end, I think what will be the deciding factor is demand. Star Saber is a very rare figure, regardless of what you see his demand go for on eBay. And because of that, I feel that he will edge out the only other realistic top contender (whom I am assuming is somebody Hasbro would want to turn into a MP-01 Powermaster Optimus Prime).

Oh... And I think that Beast Convoy would edge out ahead of Fortress Maximus because of both the Encore #23 piece being Fortress Maximus, as well as the fact that he would have a hybrid size/transformation sequence/quality control issue tied to him.

But yeah... While I would not mind owning a "Masterpiece" Super Ginrai (note the lack of God Bomber/Apex armor), I can see fans adding in a possible "Masterpiece" Victory Leo and/or Victory Saber set being an additional factor to Star Saber's win. :-?

(Plus, if I am right, I have one assumption: Sabr will be so excited that his head explodes. And what will follow it will be a series of fireworks before he regenerates a new head. He will then do an Irish jig with his fellow Star Saber fans, and finish it up with him preordering 1-2 pieces. As in one loose and one MISB. That, and I will screaming profanely at the fact that they are putting out more Encore/G1 reissue pieces, due to the fact I am having a hard time finding a way to get the pieces I want without having to bother with eBay.)

As for lack of red...do you think maybe this is actually a sneaky way to bring in the Diaclone black/ Deep cover re-paint? (was there a diaclone Black Lambourghini?) Mind you then his head would be blue...and they have gone so far as to give him the marvel weaponry :-?

Ok...Call me OFFICIALLY confused. 8-}

I thought the whole reason for MP-10 was to "reboot" Masterpieces so they can all be in scale/size with one another?? ...hence Sidewipe, Soundwave, Prowl, etc. Most of these listed to vote on (with the exception of all the Primes) SHOULD be freaking HUGE or smaller compared to current MP's... Just saying IF the intention of the line is to be in scale with one another.

I love me some Prime, BUT come on, half the freaking list are PRIMES!!! Ugh... I say "F" the list, they should start 1) Release ONE new MP a quarter, keeping it even so TWO Bots and TWO Cons a year. 2) They should start releasing G1 Combiner MP's...Biggest member lead in then one member per quarter, doubling up in one quarter with two. My first vote for MP combiner would be Stunticons... seems like every other Team has had rereleases EXCEPT the Stunticons...SOOOOOO tired of Bruticus, Arialbots and Devestator :BANG_HEAD:

Masterpiece: Star Saber please :D

The G1 Springer toy had a green face, and throughout the cartoon it was mostly (if not always) gray. I thought Takara would go with the green face on TG スプラング to make it stand out more compared to the Hasbro one. Since their Classics have more G1-accurate (sometimes cartoon accurate) paintjobs and all, but they didn't. Glad I got the Hasbro Springer, because this time the Takara version of that character isn't that much more more striking paintjob-wise. Knowing myself I will eventually own both versions anyway... :-? :P

I like how recently I was thinking about MP's and who could be next.

I thought it would be cool to do Beast Wars characters.
But the figures and the models in the show were exactly the same!
Just like Energon/Cybertron. The television models were based on the figures.
Look at Transformers GO! Same thing.

Isn't that the point of MP's? To look exactly like how they were visioned in the t.v shows and comics?

Taking time out to make an MP Primal, Cybtertron/Energon Prime would be cool, but also pretty pointless to me at this time.
Especially with the recent releases of MP's. Let's get most of the G1 cast first!

Then we can focus on the other characters.

I wouldn't mind if Armada Prime was made into an MP though. Considering his figure wasn't up to par with articulation or paint apps either. Imagine a fully articulated super mode Armada Prime? I like the sound of that.

But seriously... I love Optimus. But There's so many other characters that deserve an MP!

I don't know about Fort Max either. I'd only be satisfied with it if it was close to the true scale. It would obviously be too big though.

It should be between God Ginrai, Dai Atlas, and Star Sabre. I don't know who I'd pick... they all would look pretty insane.

This is specifically for a 30th aniversary special MP release right? So I'm guessing that's why it's between all the famous Autobot commanders. Won't be tied to or restrictive of the general MP line I'm guessing.
V2 Megs is too long coming, I agree.

There is a card next to Springer saying something about 'sample' so I'm guessing as someone else said this is just the hasbro one for show purposes. Peeps hoping for shiny and different deco could still be pleased it seems :D

Plus! Tigertrack also has Red Alert's chest instead of Swipe's! It has those round doo-hickey thingies on it. This excites me more than it should but who cares

A poll on one of the next MP figures?

There's only three from this list I'd be willing to see: Generation One Fortress Maximus, Victory Star Saber, and Armada Optimus Prime. Fortress Maximus because I'm curious to see how he would be done (plot twist: he's based on his regular Transformer-sized IDW design! ), Star Saber because Victory is my favorite of the Japanese Generation One continuity, and Armada Optimus because he was from the series that first got me into Transformers. :x

TAKARA LISTEN UP. Keep the Masterpieces realistic. Since it seems yall want to avoid those toy licensing issues. Then go with the beastformers. I would buy a mp-big convoy the elephant mammoth one or a beast wars t-rex Megatron or that beast wars dragon Megatron. I DO NOT WANT A MP CONCEPT VEHICLE OR ANYTHING CYBERTRON LOOKING. Oh, I wouldn't mind a Optimus primal. Just make the beastformers as lifelike as possible with maybe a splash of color.

I understand that they normally dont announce a new masterpiece until the currently planned ones are released but i would've loved to see a tease about a brand new mold. A new scale megatron perhaps? what about those those rumors about Mirage or Jazz Getting a masterpiece release. Isn't that what these conferences are all about? getting people hyped for the next big thing.

Is the Masterpiece Deepcover or a G2 Sideswipe? Bu the logo I'm guessing its a G2 Sideswipe (http://nooooooooooooooo.com/)

Sadly the MP line isn't being made soley for you :-( Guess you may end up with a few dissapointments >:oP
Masterpiece is about characters, not strictly alt modes. Sure, I like how the current line of cars are actually being licensed so as to be accurate, but it's ridiculous to suggest major TF characters can't get a masterpiece because they don't have 'real' alt modes. If you haven't already try the Binaltech/ Alternators line. Y'know, the line that made Grimlock a car.

No, no non realistic masterpieces transformers is allowed. All us collectors like me have is the movieverse line and the masterpiece line.

Eagleblaster, it's fiction. They're TOYS! REALISM = NOT REQUIRED!

I like the Zoids remote control, but not so much the TransFormer one. We've seen it done before and they aren't worth it.

G2 MP Sideswipe? Are they not going to stop? What's next, Movie Deco MP Sideswipe?

It's more than likely an unpainted test shot.

More likely, yes. I just wondered since the rest of him is already black, as in the right colour. Don't mind me, I just have a Diaclone obsession ;)
Probably a black plastic sprue.

hinomars19 wrote:There is a card next to Springer saying something about 'sample' so I'm guessing as someone else said this is just the hasbro one for show purposes. Peeps hoping for shiny and different deco could still be pleased it seems :D
Hasbro's Springer doesn't have green feet. And has two shades of gray plastic, whereas this one here only has one.

The colors are also more muted overall than Hasbro's colors. ;)

Isn't that what these conferences are all about? getting people hyped for the next big thing.
That's what this poll is about. To get people hyped up about being able to choose the next Masterpiece.

At least it's not just a straight redeco since it's gonna have a whole bunch of Marvel G2 stuff given to it.

After seeing this I'm sure we're going to get Diaclone Bluestreak.

From what I'm being told by people that are at the show, G2 Sideswipe has a very G2 looking open mouth. I'm trying to figure out if he has another gun strapped to his back as well.

What do you mean by open mouth? & I hope so. This got me very excited for what's next in the Masterpiece line.

I can't find the picture I'm thinking of, but most open mouths in G2 comics had a rough and garrish look to them. Pretty cool now that it's in a toy.

In theory, I'm with Eagleblaster.

The Masterpiece line was conceived as G1 TFs with modern engineering, superb vehicular/alt mode accuracy, and faithfulness to the cartoon robot mode. It's the triple threat.

Seeing the possibility of non-G1 Masterpieces is somewhat of a shock, and a disappointment. I really wish they would work to assemble, at the very least, the original 1984 lineup before they move on to other MP concepts. We see how quickly the new MPs have been selling. There's clearly momentous demand for all this. Plus, you know we'll be seeing 3rd Party competition - QuakeWave is just the beginning.

I fear that if they don't keep this line focused, they may stretch it to thin, lose our interest, and then not complete anything of significance.

Feel free to disagree, but I feel like: Ugh.

MP ARMADA OPTIMUS?!?!?! Take my money now!!! NOW!!! Sold sold sold!

Seriously, that's awesome. If he could be as articulated in his normal form as the deluxe version was, that'd be amazing. Then make his super-mode really articulate, make the wheels rubber, have a removable matrix, YES! Oh I would preorder this so fast.

IMHO, I feel that only Super Ginrai, Star Saber, Dai Atlas, and Micron Densetsu Convoy would really need MPs since Fort Max is too big to do one (without breaking the scale they've set up for this line, that is), and everyone else already has some pretty great toys that don't really need any MP updates. ;)

Super Fire Convoy, Galaxy Convoy, and Beast Wars Telemocha Series Convoy (who IMO, already works great enough for a "MP Optimus Primal" in terms of size, deco, and mold), for instance, are some of the best Convoy toys we've ever gotten. 8)

Anyone who thinks this "contest" is really an actual contest where people actually get to vote and have a say in it is kidding themselves. It's all an illusion. Just like American Idol. Rigged.

I learned a lot of official contests aren't really quite so random when I worked in radio. Whenever we drew a winner that didn't match the radio station's demographics, we just kept drawing names until it looked like a good match for the station. Random, yah, but not as random as the first name winning.

I'm sure a couple of those have concepts or prototypes already and they're using the contest to determine which ones go first or to gauge interest in items like the Beast Wars characters (this could be laying the seeds for the 20 year anniversary in 3 years as well).

Just my 2 cents. I could be entirely wrong and this could be exactly what it's being presented as.
