As a follow up to yesterday's Transformers Prime Cyberverse Abominus combined news we have a few additional images of the individual Terrorcons. The first set comes to us from ACToys, and shows the team off individually in both modes plus another combined image with Cyberverse Commander Predaking. The second set, which comes to us from the Hobbybase facebook page, features the the newly released members, Blight, Windrazor, and Rippersnapper individually and in-package. Images mirrored below.

HA like they aren't going to buy them.

True, true. If there's one thing that I've learned about this fandom (and which perplexes me ENTIRELY), it's that people will rampantly hate on things, then buy it, then will often have an ENTIRELY different opinion. The implication being of course, that they didn't really hate the design to begin with. ;)

Those are usually just the sugar-rush posters still caught in the "collect'em all" phase of collecting.
The rest of us try to stay away from posting on fan messageboards as much as possible, keeping our wallets even tighter closed.

But this thing is so... ugh. I really do get that post-G1 movie feeling seeing this. It's like it's the late 80s again, and I'm in Woolworths looking at Monstercons that they just can't sell because they look ridiculous.

What "looks cool" on this combiner?
That's the question that only "claws instead of hands?" seems to be able to say so far.

So as a combiner... what looks cool about it?

This is a great little group. Excited to get them all. Even without their combined form they're all pretty cool, and with it just makes it more exciting.

So do we know for sure the Target gift set will be a different color scheme, or are we just assuming? If that was already cleared up, I missed it.

I agree that this thing is a mess, even by the standards of gestalts with claw hands, but the Terrorcons hold a special place in my heart as the last G1 combiner team I found at retail, in 1990 no less, and I love smallish combiners, so I'll just buy any damn repaint of this whole team. Monstructor, Dinoking, Monstrous, whatever makes even the least little sense.

Don't get me wrong.
I don't hate this, I just wish it had a larger figure for the central bot.

As a matter of fact, I'll probably be buying 2 as my kid will dig this A LOT.

The brightly colored ones make the sinfully ugly Abominus... thing.

The dark one with orange on him is Predaking. Though, not the G1 Predaking who was also a combiner. He's not part of their set, just there for the hell of it in the pic.

"sinfully ugly" is a rather appropriate description for any guy named "Abominus" (except the SG guy, since his name's meant to be ironic). ;)

It's also probably intentional given how he and his components are supposed to be, you know, abominable. :P

They look pretty organic to me, certainly moreso than the G1 Terrorcons, while still looking like them. And of course they're going to be a -little- angular, they're robots!

What I meant was that they ARE more organic and less boxy compared to their G1 counterparts, and that this pleases me greatly. I suppose I could have been clearer about that.

I really like it. The redesign makes sense for the characters as well as being cheaper to produce. I've a soft spot for the Terrorcons being the the only G1 team I ever completed. Made a couple of other Scrambled combiners but that's not the same.

The new animal modes look awesome for all of them. Cutthroat's maybe a bit skinny, but he looks like a pirate bird now, and that's cool. The robots of all of them seem to have a little more character this time around. It's a wonder what proper limbs can do. I even mostly like the changes to Hun-Grr. Shame he's not the level of quality compared to the original, which at the time was one of the best toys around, but this guy seems very good for his size-class.

Since the retail release is pretty much G1 accurate colour-wise, I'd love a very different, unified look for the gift-set. Dark Energon versions or something? Terrorcon Predacons in the style of translucent purple Cliffjumper.

That's what I've been thinking myself, though they could certainly surprise us! Another possibility I've mentioned before would be a redeco as Monstructor? I'd very much welcome that!

No, you really can't.

Anyhow, I am loving these things. Their bast modes look great: Windrazor is a pterodactyl from hell, Rippersnapper looks like some sort of kaiju, and whatever Blight is, it's delightfully brutish. (As for Twinstrike and Hun-Gurr, I don't think I need to say anything about these tiny two-headed terrors, since Twinstrike's been out for a bit and Hun-Gurr is starting to spread as well, but they're nice and fierce-looking.)

The robot modes are also very nice, and combining is the icing on the cake for me. I want these guys.

Utter fail. You would think that Hasbro would have remembered wisdom from back in 1986 that you make the torso larger for a reason on a 5 bot combiner.

By making Hun-Grr a cyberverse commander sized figure instead of a deluxe, what could have been a great combiner falls flat on its face. The problem is that Hun-Grr is way too small for the other 4 - to the point where not only does his body look tiny in comparison, but Abominus literally looks like Hun-Grr standing on stilts and (as well as because of, him) holding up the other two limbs with his arms up in the air. Even giving Hun-Grr retractible fists would have gone a long way to improving the look of Abominus.

In short, great limbs, but let down by trying to shoehorn a figure which should have been a Deluxe, into a Cyberverse Commander.

Actually, they're all Legion class. Making Hun-Gurr a Deluxe would make him out of scale with the rest of the team. Making Hun-Gurr a Commander class figure would make him more logically scaled.

I almost agree, but i don't. I hate this figure up, down, sideways and backwards... but I do also think it's possible to have a torso not as giant as G1. If they'd done something in between those two sizes, it could have been pulled off.

As it is now... well i mean really people... picture him trying to lift his arms up in the air!
The upper arms are ridiculous for the BODY GLOBS that are hanging off the forearms.

There's a difference between a scary abomination, and something that's more or less screwed and can't chase you or swing it's claws at you.

Either way, my argument for making Hun-Grr one size class larger than the other 4 still stands.

Again though, a larger Hun-Grr would have fixed all those problems.

These are plastic toys that cost as much as a Happy Meal. If you think Hasbro was going to put in a lot of time and money engineering these things to satisfy adult collectors, you don't understand their business. This is like complaining about the lack of character development in Spongebob Squarepants cartoons.

There are a few issues with this, sure, but honestly I'm pretty happy with it for what it is. A combiner of monsters looks better gangly and disproportionate; if these sell well, maybe Hasbro will take the chance and give us a more full-sized Terrorcon set in the future.

As it stands now, I'd say they did a pretty good job for the size class they're in. Just think of it as a modern-day Monstructor! :D

Yeah, like a weird Monstructor/Abominus dual homage.

For me, they're just more Predacons. Now that we have most of the show Decepticons in Cyberverse, this gives Predaking enough teammates to form a viable third faction.

But, reluctantly, I think I'll wait for the gift set. >:oP

Well done, Kickback is fun! Fun to pose too.

I get the feeling that once all 5 hits the shelves, people are going to come up with some clever ways to combine them....making them way better than the pictures suggest.

I don't know, but if I had to guess, they don't want five-figure waves. Wave one of BH Cyberverse Legion was four figures, Wave two was three figures, and wave three seems to be three fiures as well, if preorder info can be trusted, which it usually can.

If it seems that their in-store release is just going to drag on with no date in sight, I'll prob just order them online soon as I see them.

Ebay and random other sites always have these things before stores do. (at least stores by me recently)

...Wait, you mean to tell me that is an OFFICIAL combiner? What the hell?! I thought it was a neat little thing someone did to the figures as a sort of fan mode, not intentional, holy shit.

As something someone came up with, it's nice! For an intentional mode... umm... no?

Crappy thing is that i can't find a Hun-Gurrr anywhere accept for ebay and it's going for almost 30 bucks after shipping. I suspect i'll suffer the same issue with the next wave and never see the rest of the team up here in Canada. If i have to buy the entire team online i'll be looking at well over 100 bucks for Abominus.

Why not just buy from a retailer like BBTS, CapturedPrey, etc...?

You forgot about the option of buying from a normal retailer? Not get enough sleep today? ;)
