Since there will be several Optimus Prime toys, often within the same line, I wanted to break them all down for you. Just so we get all our facts straight, I did not include anything outside Hasbro/Takara and nothing from Resue Bots, just the main lines and collector oriented toys. Also, it may be that we have more than these coming out this year.
Siege Voyager Optimus Prime: While this toy did come out in the US and Canada at the tail end of 2018, Siege is 2019's Generations line and Optimus Prime is one of the best toys from wave 1. Many countries have yet to get this line but it should be found soon.
Siege Leader Optimus Prime: Even though we are getting a voyager already, we know that a leader class Optimus will be coming too. It will be a retool of Ultra Magnus, as you can see in the art below. It will be a voyager sized Prime with a Cybertron/Galaxy Force themed cab. We do not know yet what the armoured version will look like, nor how his trailer looks like and how different it will be from Ultra Magnus.
Studio Series Voyager Movie 1 Optimus Prime: The Studio Series will also be releasing several Optimus Primes. This one is a very heavy retool of the first Studio Series Prime with different Transformations steps. This Prime can combine with upcoming Studio Series Leader Jetfire, the previous Optimus cannot.
Studio Series Voyager Bumblebee Movie Optimus Prime: Fans really liked the G1 themed design of Optimus Prime in the Bumblebee movie and Hasbro will be releasing a voyager class toy of that design.
Studio Series Leader Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime: All we know about this toy is that it will be coming out this year. We do not know if the fact that it is a leader means it will be a big toy or if that means it will be a voyager with a trailer (such as with the Siege Leader). The images below are just for reference of the character's design and what we got in the past.
Masterpiece Ver 3: This is the third Masterpiece Optimus Prime, the one with the very high MSRP that made the fandom nearly faint. It will come with a trailer and a bunch of accessories, which you can see in the image below. It will also have a Japanese voice chip and Hasbro has confirmed to us by e-mail that even though they are importing it to be sold in the US, they will not be changing anything. Meaning their release will also be speaking Japanese.
Cyberverse Ultra Optimus Prime: It can be very confusing seeing all these similar looking Cyberverse Primes. While we had a leader class toy last year, this one is a voyager sized toy. It will have a Autobot Insignia shield gimmick.
Cyberverse 1 step Optimus Prime (new mold): They will be releasing a new one step as well with an energon axe gimmick. The previous one step didn't have any gimmick aside from transforming in just one step.
G1 Reissue without trailer: 2019 is bringing us lots of G1 reissues, one being none other than G1 Optimus. This figure has already been spotted at retail.
G-Shock Optimus Prime: Part of the big Prime anniversary is a cross over with G-Shock watched where the watch base can transform into Optimus Prime. This is Japanese exclusive.

as for the leader SS optimus, i am hoping it will be voyager with a trailer, which in my mind, could be done as a redo of ultimate optimus prime from DOTM, except done better, with proper articulation this time.

No shared parts so it can’t be a retool. It’s like smokejumper and energon starscream; similar conversion with no shared tooling.

In Generations, 2 per year in the main Classes has been the limit, but other lines have different rules. Studio Series takes advantage of the many variations of the characters in the Movie's 10+ years life span, while Cyberverse has to have at least one version of all the main characters in each Size Class, Optimus included... Ho boy. The Bumblebee Movie line has a couple as well, 2 in Power and 1 in Nitro.
Robots in Disguise 2015, eat your heart out!

Given their emphasis on scale in the studio series line, and the fact that aside from his abs, 07/ROTF Prime and DOTM Prime are basically the same design I would assume that it will be a voyager+ armour deal simmilar to Seige.

Not all fans.
Prime certainly needs a leader class figure for the S.S line because the current Voyager is just too small compared to the rest of the Autobots, not the Decepticons however. I think now it's just about debating to get the new Voyager or hold out for the leader...
SS32 (the revised upgrade of SS05) is actually a bit taller than the original figure. Probably done since Ironhide made Prime look too small before. I think it's fine now. Don't need a larger figure cos he scales fine overall with the vast majority of Studio figures. A DotM version with retooled version of SS32 and a transforming trailer at Leader class price point would be fine though yeah.

Its not, you are thinking of a different one step prime

Siege is amazing and the SSGeePrime is looking good, makes me glad I skipped last year's Legendary rescale. The only other one that has my interest is that oddball G-Shocktimus.

Well, yes and no. I still really love the looks of the new MP Prime, and want it, but that price, even the Amazon.jp one, is still ridonkulos. Plus, the chances of a high quality KO is now in jeopardy.

You know of another year where we had 10 different Prime toys scheduled for release?

Woah, 17 different Optinus Primes?! Why does it seem like this year is crazier?
Edit: i know why, its because the majority of 2018 Oprimus toys were relegated to lines specifically ained at kids and not fans like Bumblebee and Cyberverse while this year we are seeing several Optimus toys in lines older fans care more for like Studio Series.

That's probably a big part of it. The Takara Movie the Best series pads the 2018 "collector Prime" count out though, as do the MP-10 recolors in 7-11 Convoy and MP-10G.william-james88 wrote:ScottyP wrote:There were 17 last year and I wasn't even thorough. Lots of Primes is ok though. New collectors having a shot at cool Optimus toys can't be a bad thing!

It was Japan-only and released last year. We got the Target exclusive Soundwave and tape set instead.

Bah! Bah, I say! I thought we were supposed to be getting everything Japan was getting now that they were blurring the lines between that whole 'Hasbro vs. Takara' stuff.

Its really not. The only similarity is that thry are working from the same source material. Siege Prime is amazing and well worth picking up if you can. This is the Prime I have been waiting for.

No no no, it's only the elimination of regional variants. Either company is still free to do whatever when it comes to packaging, release order (or not release it at all), and above all, exclusives. You'll note that the Studio Series exclusives were previously unavailable in Japan until the announcement of SS-EX Retro Garage Set, and that Cyberverse and the rest of the Bumblebee movie line... well, are just plain missing there.

Oh not bad at all, I just figured with all these new different Optimus toys coming out (especially in within the same line) it might be worth making a quick list to let people know what's up.
And yeah, I wasnt thinking about all those redecos last year (like Gold Optimus). Not that they dont count, but since all these 2019 primes are new molds (more or less), that was my basis for comparing to 2018.
Basically, last year we had 1 Prime in Studio Series, this year we have 3. We had 1 Optimus in POTP, Siege gives us 2, plus a fully new MP mold and that crazy crossover stuff. 2019 felt a little more special for Optimus than previous years.

Its not that we are getting everything Japan is getting, its that now what we are both getting is the same. Important difference. It means if there is a toy coming out for Takara that is also coming out for Hasbro, they will be identical. That's why their Grotusque was the same as ours, so was their Throne of the Primes, and thats why MP Optimus Ver 3 will be speaking Japanese nomater who you buy him from.

Sorry, couldn't help myself
I was hoping Hasbro was going to release Legendary Prime in the states as well. He's still a good price at Amazon JP, ¥4,906 before adding to the cart and shipping, but I'm glad I waited as we are getting some mighty tasty Primes this year. Siege Prime is great, and I can't wait to get my filthy mitts on the SS Bee Prime.
I'd still jump Legendary's bones if the price was right
