In what is not a reveal of anything upcoming, but could easily work in a new War for Cybertron line, at least in potential (but I'll repeat, it is not), or an early version of what we received in the Cyberverse toyline, the official Hasbro Transformers and Pulse social media accounts have posted an image of a conceptual design of a new Megatron figure in robot mode, working out its pretend engineering, or 'pretengineering', to understand which parts of the figure/character are moveable, its structure, functions, movements, and shifts - as they the say, the 'dynamic functionality of the robot'.

Take a look at the image below, and join the discussion in the Energon Pub! Again, this is not an upcoming Megatron figure - but would you like to see something like it in any of the current (if this is not the Cyberverse figure) or future lines?

MEGATRON PRETENGINEERING. Pretengineering is pretend engineering created to explain the dynamic functionality of each Transformers robot.

Pretengineering should be the term used for figuring out how to bring full-sized, full-featured Pretenders into Generations.

As if Hasbro would ever bring back Pretenders as normal-sized figures! You guys are all dreaming!

...and then watch this post be proven horribly wrong down the line.

Not really part of the upcoming toyline for the animated show Transformers: Cyberverse, we do however have some information on the McDonald's Russia promotion of the superdeformed figures that will accompany their menu during the May-June period!

The various figures showing up include the generally known players in the Transformers stable, with the new show's designs (using the Evergreen concepts) Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Windblade, Megatron, Starscream, Shockwave, and Grimlock. You can check them all out below, with some machine translation of the features, and the promotional clip uploaded to YouTube!

Image

Bumblebee with rocket launcher: Autobot-scout loyal to Optimus Prime. Insert the projectile into the rocket launcher, press the red button and hit any target!

Image

Windblade with rotating turbines: Autobot warrior. Click on the red button on the back of Windblade and start rotating turbines that allow her to fly.

Image

Walking Megatron: Leader of Decepticons. Wind-up the mechanism built into the Megatron helmet and attack any opponent.

Image

Grimlock with burning fire: Dinobot-Autobot is a friend of Bumblebee. Click on the red button in the shape of the Autobot logo and activate the fire flame of Grimlock.

Image

Optimus Prime with a sword: Leader of the Autobots. Attack enemies by clicking on the blue button on the back of Optimus.

Image

Bumblebee Racer: Autobot scout. In his mode, Bumblebee transforms into a racing car. Pull back the car and let go.

Image

Starscream fighting aircraft: Decepticon faithful to Megatron. Click on the launch button and you will see Starscream attacking the enemies.

Image

Shockwave with rockets: Decepticon scientist and subordinate of Megatron. When the missile system is guided to the enemy, the flight mode is activated.

In more news today about Transformers: Cyberverse - the upcoming animated show from Hasbro and Boulder Meida - and its toyline, we have an image of its first wave of One Step Changers courtesy of Canadian site Kid Toy and a tip from fellow Seibertronian westjames/notirish.

Priced at 15.99 CAD each, the three figures shown are representations of Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Blurr, with some nice new art in the style of the show we are coming to see more and more of - but the toys themselves are simple redecos of the Robots in Disguise figures of the same characters, in the same One Step Changers category. Check out the image below to see for yourselves!

This is a joke, right?

EDIT: this does, on the other hand, give me some hope that we might see a 2015 RID Thundercracker in this line

I thought it was 15.99 for the whole set. Boy, those figures look cheap. That much each? Nah. Not gonna happen. I will say that they don't look that bad. I mean they have detail and they are probably a lot of fun to play with the one step feature. Great for kids even. But not for the same cost as a deluxe.

For a comparison here is a video review of the RID one step Soundwave. Just so that everyone is aware of what a one step changer is like. It legitimately looks like a fun toy but just not at that price point. According to google the current exchange rate means that figure would be in the ballpark of 12.99 USD and that is still too much. I think it is only worth maybe 7 or 8 bucks for what it is. It's something to fiddle with, not something I am going to spend hours posing and transforming.

Ok, this is starting to be typical: the first wave is all redecos like TLK Legion Wave 1. Not missing much there.
Re: A Look Behind Transformers Toy Design: Pretengineering (1961825)
Posted by MaverickPrime on May 27th, 2018 @ 1:21pm CDT
Oh right, because these sold sooo well the first time :BANG_HEAD:
Look, I don't have anything against redecos, but having the first wave be nothing but redecos really hurst the line, the first TLK wave is still clogging up shelves everywhere here except for the places where it went as low as 75% off, the rest still have FULL shelves, which also prevents the later, actually good waves from ever showing up :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD:
I'm no business expert, but that has to be a stupid strategy, at least wait some waves before repeating toys!
For God's sake, Walmart STILL has W1 Grimlocks and they are going for less than 4 bucks!

Exactly, we only got wave one of everything except for the voyagers out of that line because sales were abysmal, not to mention the fact that our local coin got heavily devaluated related to the USD meant that we went from 280MXN for deluxes and 500MXN for voyagers to 450MXN and 700MXN respectively didn't help at all, most product didn't move until the heavy discounts began, and like I said, some stores still are full of that.

Credit where credit's due, at least there are two characters in that Class that aren't Starscream, Megatron, Optimus Prime and Grimlock. The rest of the Classes repeat the same characters over and over.

You’ve got a point. But RID had at least good warrior and legion figures. This entire line doesn’t seem to have anything redeemable. Warrior class should be the beacon of light but this is no longer the case.

“Credit where credits due” is the most positive thing we can muster for this. Like saying “at least we have this crap instead of literally nothing”

Mr Chaos has once again found upcoming product codes to share with the Transformers fan community. We already knew of three one step Transformers part of the upcoming Cyberverse lines, which were Bumblebee, Blurr and Soundwave, and now we have three new ones with Megatron, Starscream and Optimus Prime. What is interesting here is that while the ones we had already seen were all redecos of Robots in Disguise One Step toys, there were no Megatrons no Starscreams in that line. So those might be new molds for one step toys.

Another interesting part are the code names. We had seen some Seinfeld themed names pop up here and there, but these listings from Mr Chaos give us more than before. Each are based on a Seinfeld character. You will see the code names below along with the UPC codes and the actual Transformers names they correspond to:

Peterman (Optimus Prime) – 63050972804
Costanza (Bumblebee) – 63050972806
Kruger (Soundwave) – 63050972807
Morty (Blurr) – 63050972808
Newman (Megatron) – 63050972809
Bania (Starscream) – 63050974405

Just about all anime shown on US TV also had character names changed for the English dubs through the '90s and parts of the 2000s. Of course some shows aimed at kids still do that because apparently TV execs still think kids don't understand what Japan is. Meanwhile they want kids to think donuts come on a stick...

After seeing some of the truly weird anime to come out, I STILL don’tthink I know what Japan is...

Some of its not so much lack of understanding, as much as repackaging into something cooler. To use the “Toys That Made Us”, example, “Gun Robo”, not impressive. “Megatron”, NOW you’re talking. And sometimes, like in the case of the Pokemon “Wobuffet”, the Japanese name for it is based on a humorous phrase that we don’t use in the US so the joke is literally lost in the translation. And speaking of Pokemon, they pulled the “Donut” trick too, because what 10 year old kid wouldn’t have gone “Rice Ball? Ew yuck.”

But I will give you, that there are a number of questionably odd Dub choices for everyone that makes sense

The Transormers Cyberverse line is as our doorstep with another international sighting. This one comes from the UK with the warrior class found in SMYTHS in Waterford by fellow Seibertronian leokearon. They were €20 each.

For those unaware, the entire line is based on gimmicks with simplified transformations. This is very different the previous cartoon line, Robots in Disguise, which at least had the legion and warrior class devoid of gimmicks or action feautures and had the same complexity as their counterpart classes in previous toylines.

While we have yet to get video reviews, we do have new stock images showing us the final product, for both the scout and warrior class. Please be aware that the scout class does not full transform, they go from robot mode to a mid transformation where an action feature is activated.

The images were sent our way thanks to Scotty P who found them on a toy website called Uncle Pete's Toys.

20 Euros? in the UK? Where exactly is that store located? I'm confused. :O
Never mind, I scrolled up and it said Waterford which is in the Republic of Ireland so not UK and explains the Euros.

And please let's just burn those poor half-transformer scout things and put them out of their misery. The Scout class used to mean decent fully transformable figures back in the last decade whether it was Energon, Cybertron or Revenge of the Fallen.

I thought 'half transformed' was the realm of fan mode transformations, or McDonalds style toys, not official mainline figures.
