One of the features of Botcon this year was the Hasbro Tour. 250 lucky attendee’s were loaded up on 2 separate visits to the Hasbro factory. A lot was shown and you can expect a full gallery from Ryan in the upcoming week. One of the things that was talked about however was the future of the 6" Titanium toy line. From what was said there will not be anymore after WWI Prowl and WWI Grimlock. However that could just be no more new molds as several repaints were featured at Botcon. Nothing was said of the 3" Titanium future.

Just a teaser some of the axed Titanium's were WWI Bumblebee (and Cliffjumper head), G1 Arcee, Cosmos and WWI Shockwave. But you'll have to wait for the galleries to see what could have been!

What a crock. I want the rest of my WW TFs, dammit!!! Just when the quality control was getting good, too...

It'd be nice if they do a G1 Arcee. If it was axed for Titanium and I shouldn't hold my breath for Hasbro to resume Classics......frak.

seems the good lines are dissapearing. i really like the 6" tits, especially the wwi ones. kinda neet to have a figure mass produced for a comic series.
oh well.

Great, don't give us the figures we really want, i.e. G1 Arcee!

It seems like a lot of the Titaniums were botched up. Cobra Megatron (or whatever he is called), and Soundwave can't stand up for 2 seconds without either falling over or falling apart, and many of the others seem "wobbly". The best ones were (as far as I know) WWI SS, WWI TC, Scourge, Optimus Prime RiD, The Fallen, WWI Sunstorm. 3 of those are the same mold. WWI UM/Prime seem nice too.

From what I've read, stores are complaining about shelf space. Well, all Hasbro had to do was make the boxes smaller. Easy fix. I can live without BB, and CJ. It would have been nice to have Shockwave though. At least WWI Prowl and Grimlock are coming out. And I think WWI Skywarp too.

You see there was some speculation... Thay said they wern't going to use any new molds or exsisting prototypes, but there is a Soundblaster repaint waiting to go, there is also a repaint of Optimal Optimus. So maybe they won't do any new stuff, but will just milk the exsisting the molds with repaints. Skywarp anyone?

I do think they had some problems in the begining but I agree they have found themselves and the molds are quite good. I will miss it.

Let's face it, they don't need this fanbase anymore. They're hatching a new one, and designs with the original esthetics aren't for it.

Seems that Hasbro just LOVES to dangle the ideas of things like Arcee and Cosmos and and at the last minute say, "Sorry, it's all been a total cockup!" :P

Should not have made the Titaniums piles of junk when they first came out :P

No more new molds I could understand, but WHY not release finished versions of the prototypes??? If they've already gone to the expense and trouble to....wait...Do prototypes have molds? Or do they serve as the pieces to make the molds? Cause if a figure has been prototyped, but doesn't have a mold, then I could see not wanting to spend the money on new molds. But if the molds are made first, and the first figure out of the mold is the prototype, then I don't understand why, if they've already spend the money and time to make a mold, they wouldn't use it, at least for something. Maybe just HasbroToyShop exclusives, but at least something.

The latter.

Something made from molds would be classified as a test shot, if I recall that right.

Sure it seems like G1 fans are getting hosed by Hasbro, but look at what G.I.JOE went through compared to what is now happening. I'm pretty sure once 2009 rolls around, all of the G1 nuts will be up to their necks in 25th anniversary stuff.

Pissimg and moaning gets you nowhere. I don't care about the movie toys. I'm saving money.

WWI Shockwave = G1 Shockwave, unless you meant WWI Soundwave or World War II Shockwave instead. I would have killed for the railgun Shockwave!!

They should do a line of specialty Transformers in plastic as a filler line, kind of like classics, only with War Within and World War II / Hearts of Steel molds. They'd be sturdier than the 6" Titaniums, have better transformations and more detail. The fans would be highly receptive just like with the Classics line.
Re: 6 inchTitanium Future At an End? (191212)
Posted by cellshock on June 29th, 2007 @ 9:43pm CDT
Yeah that Titanium Shockwave is most definitely G1 - not WW - it's just designed as a self contained figure.

Seeing those cancelled Titaniums is about the most disappointing thing I've seen in months. I can't believe we were so close to getting them. I'd pay $100 for that Shockwave alone.

Unfortunetly I wasnt able to make my Hasbro toy visit but they talked about this sort of thing. Ryan was passing some of the info on to me on the stages of development. Apparantly it costs like 8K to do one of these prototypes in its various stages and what not. Then they have to go through it and try and change some things to try and save money so its more cost effective to mass produce. Unfortunetly they will not make it to that point.

Hopefully maybe Ryan can touch on some of the stuff he heard when he psots the galleries of the visit, he told me he got like 400+ images of great stuff. And there are even more prototypes (non Titanium) I havent mentioned that will knock your socks off!

If you guys want a look go to TFW2005. However I bet this site will have more and better quality pictures than the ones I've seen. I've heard they were canceled because no stores wanted them. However, if something needs to go it's the Star Wars Transformers and the big Star Wars Titaniums. Those aren't selling at all. Looks like 2008 will be an easy year for Transformers since we have nothing worth getting. I'd love a line dedicated to the IDW versions of characters like Cybertron Megatron, that'd be freakin' sweet!

I agree 100%. Using die-cast was a bad idea from the start. Hopefully they can bring these molds/protos into the classics or something? I've waited so long for WWI Bumblebee...

I went through my WWI comics today...just to look at what could've been...I love WWI.
Why couldn't they cancel the decorative sinker line instead, those damn ugly 3"-ers.

Ah, another Red Dwarf fan! I think...

I would've paid hundreds for Shockwave. THOUSANDS for Cosmos. MILLIONS for Arcee (if it was good enough). And I would've KILLED to get WW Bumblebee. I love BB. He's my favourite TF. Fritzwagen, cruiser or Camaro, I will buy him. I SO would've slaughtered many a Hasbro employee to get him in Hovercar form.

Damnitt Hasbro! I can deal with you more than most TransFan's, but to axe these figs...you would've gotten another avid Titanium buyer! Damn you! Damn you all to heck!

6 inch transforming Transfomrer Titaniums are the ONLY Titaniums I buy! I even shelled out for the Optimal Optimus because while he didn't have a beast mode, a little red paint would make a better Primal Prime that the one I missed in stores (and to date is the ONLY Beast Machines figure I don't have).

Thanks for the replies Creature SH and Starscream. $8000 for *ONE* prototype! Man! I knew toy development was expensive, but I never thought $8000 for only part of the whole process. Of course, at roughly $15 each, Hasbro would only have to sell about 534 to make that $8000 back. Of course, I haven't figured in the cost to make the mold, and all the other expenses. So maybe we should just be happy about all the cool figures that we have gotten over the years, as well as all the cool figures that will be released in the future.

It still sucks that the prototypes aren't going to be released as Titaniums, but perhaps we'll see them later, in a different line. Since Cosmos and Shockwave are updated versions of the G1 versions, they would fit perfectly in another run of Classics. How funny would that be if Cosmos goes from possible Classics release, to possible Titanium release, and then actually does get released in "Classics, Year Two". Here's hoping.

Also, I haven't seen a new 6 incher since Fubuary, could you release some of the ones that will lead to this sad conclusion.

What if they can canceled the Titaniums Molds because they were gonna use them and modify them for the Return of the classics line?? It could happen?? And I could grow wings and fly too!!

Or maybe they'll just give them out as an exclusive Boxed set for the next botcon, and charge attendees 350.00 and not attendees, will be charged 500.00... and the scalpers will charge 800.00 on ebay!!!

It's sad in some ways but I also think diecast was a terrible medium for these figures anyhow. The manufacturing process is cheaper than with injected plastic, meaning you can affort to produce more obscure characters/variants, but at the cost of distorted detail, floppy joints, weight issues, etc. The prototypes look great but for all anyone knows they all could have wound-up being just like Ultra Magnus or Soundwave once they hit the shelves.

It's too bad, they were getting better. Maybe they'll reuse them someday ..... but I'm not holding my breath or anything.

Although I wish they'd choose some NEW characters for Neo-G1s. We've already had several new versions of Shockwave, one of Arcee, and a TF Classic of Bumblebee. It's like they're competing with themselves.

I was really rooting for Shockwave & Arcee. That would've been the ONLY G1 accurate Arcee other than A.R.C which we all know is crap. Cosmos I had been complaining about not gettign made since we found out about the Concept Art. Bumblebee & Cliffjumper would've been pretty awesome. Hasbro just wants us to not be happy. Actually, that's what all toy companies want. Except maybe Takara-Tomy, they make me pretty happy. Reason #241 to hate Hasbro.
