Something about this read didn't feel right.

But what is UP with Prime's truck mode? That is truly ugly.

In context that is very funny.
I don't know why.

Now hopefully it actually comes out, seeing as how the official release date has come and gone and my preorder got cancelled...
I really wish IDW could get something out on time for once...
But anyway, I think it's a cute book though the inclusion of Drift is pretty questionable...

That is so far beyond petty, I'm...I'm freaking stunned!
Even in something so innocent you guys HAVE to find something to rag on.
Do us all a favor and just get the Hell out of the gene pool!
You guys have sunk so low you should be embarassed to ever log-on here again.
Go kick a puppy or shove a grandmother into traffic or something or did you guys
already do that before posting? You've pissed me off so badly I can hardly think
straight enough to praise the work done in the preview.

Because the next panel should talk about the boy's desire to mate with the female.

GTFO - You don't know the members age, you don't know if their are kids of if their have kids. Right to criticize ? HELL YES, if we are going to pay hard earned money for it, YES - WE CAN CRITICIZE.
I think that the art is cute. I wouldn't buy it, but i wouldn't throw it to the garbage if it came, for example, with my Robot Heroes. It would add value to the collection if different panels came with a different toy.

I'm not too bothered myself. We are a long way from the Dark Days of Dreamwave.

Anyway, since when did Transformers in general begin having continuity? I doubt linking one perfectly with another would hold up under duct tape and Elmer's. Just look at the first two seasons of G1 Transformers. Should I bring up the Constructicons, their creation date, and some Autobot by the name of Omega Supreme as an example? Or should that one rest?
That's the fun thing about the numerous facets of the varied TF universes. Everyone's free to have their own take of it. Even the guys who write live action films under a certain director with the last name of 'Bay'.

It is VERY obviously aimed at a younger audience that has little to no knowledge of the TF universe. As such it is essentially a cross between Marvel comics and Dr. Seuss. If you cannot see that for yourself and see fit to criticize it for your own personal gratification, then get the hell out of our hobby. This obviously requires some suspension of disbelief...but it seems some of you are so far ABOVE that it can't be done. I'd say grow up, but that's not what THIS particular story requires. They are obviously having fun with everything. If yiou can't have fun with the story, the background, and everything else, you need some Prozac in your life. Get over yourselves and let your kids enjoy it for wat it is.
Couldn't the same be said about the cartoons?

And the toys?
If you take it precisely us and you bitching about a toy not being perfect is the same as us bitching about this horrible story book. I've seen nicer and better story books. Beatrix Potter FTW!

YES, Thank You! Less terse than how I presented it, less likely to get folks riled up. While I probably should have done something more along this line I make no appology for my presentation. As was stated, the fact that this is achildrens book is OBVIOUS. A no brainer. This book is below the level of even my own kids. I would get on their cases for criticizing this book.
I enjoyed the pages I read for what they were. I think it was very nicely done and was a perfect way to introduce the youngest new fans to the world of the Transformers. Simple, innocent, fun. ANYONE finding fault with that has a head full of bad wiring.
If you are so eager to tear apart something meant for a four to five year old you're on par with the same kind of sick f***'s that surf the 'Net looking for child porn as far as I'm concerned. Children are the most precious thing we have on this planet and to take something from them or tear apart something meant from them so callously...that makes you sub-human in my book.
I applaud the team behind making and distributing this book. You guys are great! A project like this is one that you know is done in the spirit of fun and enjoyment. You know it's not about profits, it's about promoting wonder and joy. Good job guys.

Mkall wrote:To me, this is proof that Drift is going to try and become as main-stream as Sunstreaker and Ironhide. The fact that they put him in a child's book speaks volumes to Hasbro's and IDW's intentions with this character
It also speaks of how little IDW cares about its fans, given the fact that they're so willing to use Shane McCarthy's very much despited Gary Stu for anything.

I could probably say who Drift is, but it's probably inappropriate, not only for your son's ears, but for the Board's TOS. Instead, I'll direct you to direct your son here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Sue

Any respect I once had for you guys is gone. How you can come to such conclusions or even entertain such conspiratorial thoughts over a book like this just floors me! What the hell has to happen to a persons life that would lead to such a train of thought over a childrens book?? The last 10 years of my life have been like Hell's Rollercoaster and my train of thought isn't even this f'd up. Can you even fathom what it is that is screwed up about this thinking?
Seriously, up until now, nothing scared me anymore but if you can't see what I'm getting at than people like you are something to fear. You are a danger to those around for you have no morals, no conscience, no remorse, no compassion and either no sense of, or no regard for, right and wrong. How, as mods, can you guys do this?? This reflects poorly on all of us.
I know this site is all about opinion and conjecture and enjoyment of a mutual interest but at what cost? Seriously dudes, no joke, your behavior worries me. I have kids and there is no way in Hell I would ever let them near the likes of you guys.
Being Mods, your probaly going to 86 me anyway. Fine. If that's the way this site is going it's time to leave anyway...

Loving the art style, and the choice of font seems perfect for young eyes, and the back to basics story is perfect for those kiddies the book is aimed at, it might be a little confusing to kids who have only ever known the movie-verse characters and designs, but I guess its better to introduce the kiddies to the sprawling confusion that is the Transformers medium.
Not liking that Drift is included at the expense of any half a dozen or more characters that have been around longer than three seconds. And Drift does not even have a toy yet (neither does Arcee, but we know hers is on the way), but other than the Drift problem IDW has right now, looks to be a top book for the kiddies.

but its also kinda sad that they are shoving Drift down peoples spine
Posted by Warbreaker on June 10th, 2009 @ 5:35am CDT
That said, the book is certainly NOT made to be heavily and intensively scrutinised under the eyes of older (adolescent, adult in this case unless you happen to be a parent) fans who are expect gunfire, war, explosions and suspiciously bloodlike oil pools and general mayhem in all the comic books they come across. Don't like it? Whatever, that lil' kid standing next to you reading it in the bookstore is probably enjoying it loads. Just go for All Hail Megatron, Maximum Dinobots and all the other titles. Seriously, it's like forcing a Gun-nut to review a spring-loaded nerf.
Oh, and T-Mack, I'd really hate it for you to leave this site.
