Hello fellow Transfans!
Just thought I'd share exciting news about a possible Tokyo Toy Exclusive Legends Black Convoy listing I received from my local toy supplier. Its supposed to retail at ¥5,600 to be avaliable for release at the end of June 2017. Ive included a screenshot of the email sent as proof.
While we have no images, smart money is on this being Japan's release of the Titans Return Voyager Optimus Prime toy in Black Convoy colours (red, black and teal). As with Armada Megatron, this will probably be the only way to get the Takara version of the mold as Optimus since only Octane would be the wide release of that mold from Takara.

Black Convoy finally made a remodel of his own truck and now he can FLY

I would welcome a Nucleon Quest deco too possibly as a TRU exclusive so both Optimus get made in black - it makes more sense for the larger one to be a Black Heroic "Optimus" body though.
To add some interest perhaps the Larger Hasbro version of the mould would be suitable for a Western repaint of some kind too - I'd kind a like a Blue G2 Combat hero / Powered Convoy like one but i'd understand if Hasbro thought Nemesis Prime was a better idea. Not that I'm not interested to see what they plan to do with Magnus too.

Even better; since Brave Maximus was retconned as having some connection with Planet Master...

Not naturally, though. Brave Maximus was created by Primus/Vector Sigma on Earth in ancient times. Towards the end of what we're shown of his life, he ends up being sent back in time from 2007 and crash-landing on Planet Master, where he becomes the inspiration for Fortress's Headmaster technology. So the Headmaster tech of Planet Master came from him, rather than him being related to Master's tech.Kurona wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I wonder, since the toy is a Headmaster and since Black Convoy once tried to control a Headmaster, if this toy might fictionally represent Black Convoy creating his own Head On System to put himself on more even footing with Brave Maximus.

But the Head On System that Brave Maximus is something a little different. It comprises of Plasma and Brave, who unite with Cybertron City to become Brave Maximus. But there is a trick to both activating the Head On System and making Brave Maximus work. Someone like an Autobot or a human can activate the system and transform the city, but in order for Brave Maximus's true power to fully function, there is a part of Plasma's programming that is a Black Box that will only respond to one with a pure heart, like a selfless human child or a determined Autobot youth. Selfish or wicked intents result in an Access Error that can cause Brave Maximus to either reject the one who activated him or to even go haywire with wanton destruction, like so:

It looks like the Brainstorm, Chromedome, and Hardhead that come in the Headmasters Set are actually the Nebulans Arcana, Stylor, and Duros from The Rebirth. Could we be looking at how Nebulans came to be in the Japanese G1 universe as they were mentioned to exist in the Nucleon Quest Super Convoy bio?

So what happened to the living autobot headmasters then? Time to call UM to sold the Mystery!

They are there, sneak attacked by their Nebulan doublegangers. And teaming-up with them later to defeat Scorponok.
That what it looks like to me.

I think fenrir was asking about the full-sized Autobot Headmasters from The Rebirth. If their Nebulan partners are here, what happened to the big guys? Are they all stuck in vehicle mode now, being headless and such?Cyberpath wrote:fenrir72 wrote:Cyberpath wrote:It looks like the Headmasters' Nebulan counterparts seized their transtectors to fight Scorponok/Zarak.

You read my mind. Were they left in the American G1 universe then?

It looks like Brawn, Grimlock and Flywheels have found the Hive City... which Flywheels thinks it's a shopping center (or it's posing as one) Note how it's not named "Scorponok" upon transformation, but "Gigantic Machine Scorpion"
The Neublan and the JP Headmaster interaction in the manga is a neat call back to how the Headmasters worked in the US cartoon, with the partner in a cockpit. It's more of a reversal of the norm in that the Nebulans control the whole body and the Headmasters are in the cockpit this time!
Also neat is that Grimlock and Brawn get their original vehicle models via their redecos Butler/Batora and Synapse! What's more, the combined modes are called "Two-In-One", the Japanese name for the Duocons! Flywheels gets nothing, ironically. We also learn a consequence of using Batora's capture mode: you're stuck like that every time it happens

Even in Re-birth, the system was kind of the same except that the vehicles were sentient and that the Headmasters were organic while Takara's were pure cybertronian.

Maybe that's why is TR self is no longer in that one box set. Maybe he's big enough they had to qualify him as a leader class and he'll be in a 3rd box set!

Who are those two Hasbro commissioned Takara to make? The one on the right I am assuming is Thunderwing. The one on the left looks like Hotrod or Rodimus.

Rodimus Prime and Thunderwing. They come as heads only in the speed and strength Titans return sets. Rodimus was confirmed to have diecast. Thunderwing maybe

Wild conjecture on Rodimus. Is it possible to have a Takara vehicle/ body for him too? Even Thunderwing using the Skyshadow mold? Takara please please? So long as it ain't a Mall exclusive.

Rodimus Prime head looks cool but what body would you put it on?
Don't like the Thunderwing face much. But still their robot modes are nicely painted.

Well... given that their only difference in animation was ever their head design, probably Hot Rod.
In any case, think you've got the wrong thread friend

What do you mean? The Hot Rod body isn't Rodimus Prime.
And why wrong thread? :O

In both the cartoon and Marvel, Hot Rod and Rodimus had no discernible differences between their bodies other than Rodimus having slightly darker shades of colour, more lines on his face and sometimes he was taller. So the Hot Rod body... does work as Rodimus if you really want it to.
And that'd be 'cos all the stuff you mentioned aside from Godbomber were Hasbro reveals last night, not Takara

Titans Hot Rod works fine as Hot Rod but doesn't have the size/stature of Rodimus Prime who should be Voyager class in comparison to the HR toy and scale with other figures of similar rank and power like Voyager Megatron, Galvatron, Optimus Prime. And plus the alt-mode is vastly different. A full Rodimus Prime voyager figure by either Hasbro or Takara could be awesome. He's never really had a successful & affordable one of that form.
And I was responding to the image posted in this thread just a few posts above.
