For winning the Videobot competition, James won himself a special one of a kind Transformers product, a custom Chromed version of Transformers Movie Leader Class Optimus Prime.
This Prime was specifically made by the Hasbro Design team for him. Included were 2 versions, both robot and vehicle modes, as well as a custom base and case.

I wonder how much this one of a kind would do?

But seriously, it's really cool especially with the G1 color scheme.

I want one, and would sell my left half of my body for it!!!
This item should have been a comic and online exclusive in mass production with a ticket price of 200.00. Also available through Diamond comics, and they should have done a special chromium and Golden metallic Megatron as well...
Tooo bad it's a one of a kind item, it would probably fetch around 8K on ebay if sold...

He's even pointed out that both have differences, such as the windows being painted in truck mode.

The chrome is a nice touch, however.

That thing is perdy! Left half of your body? Shoot, I'd give your right half too!

The whole thing's chromed out but the smokestack tips? Damn Hasbro, what exactly do you have against prime's stacks?
Posted by Chosen on August 30th, 2007 @ 9:39pm CDT
I think because that part of the mold is floppy plastic, it's one of those parts that can't be painted normally. There's parts like that on a few other figures too (back of BW Dinobot's head and dino arms, that little dangly bit on movie Starscream's chest, etc.). Never really thought about that stuff until I was reading the TF Wiki. Just throwing it out there.

As I did post over at TFW2005, I have no plans of selling it. Even after I posting that, I'm still getting people tossing offers my way through PM's and MySpace.
Since a few people here have inquired on a few details, below I've copied over a response I posted on the other site. If anyone has specific questions about the figure, I'll be happy to answer.

"I've been very carefully inspecting it. As many have noted, chipping/flaking is always an issue with stuff like this. I'm not even going to attempt to fully transform either piece.
That said, here's what I've found:
Most of the pieces are definitely vacuum-metalized. Some pieces appear to have been painted by hand. All of the "chrome" colored pieces (grill, tanks, guns, etc) are vacuumed. Where you can see a definite difference is in anything that's red in color. Some pieces are vac, some painted. A few pieces look like they were either from stock or prototypes, and have been re-colored. If you look VERY closely, there is a faint outline of "flames" under the coating in a few spots. The other interesting thing is that the electronics in the vehicle mode version are functional. The robot version does not appear to have electronics installed - Kind of weird as that version has see-through windows on the chest, while the vehicle version has been plated over the windows.
Updated: Hands are vac-plated in blue, fingers are in black, molded plastic.
More details as I discover them..."

We're talking about a 12 hour difference. If the mods won't look for duplicate threads, why should we expect anyone to?

QFT! Those flames were not the most appealing part of him. Yet to see a rig on the road with flames. Half naked women yes. Flames no. Although a half naked woman might not have been the best deco for him. Well maybe.....

As for the flames, didn't mind them at all in the movie. For the toy however, I prefer the G1 color scheme. There was a guy selling a custom "movie-accurate" Leader Prime on Ebay recently that was pretty bad-ass, though. Had a trailer too.
Posted by ultra tron on August 31st, 2007 @ 9:24pm CDT
with the fact that it's a G1 deco, a leader class, and chrome it should fetch him at least 1,000 on ebay if he ever has money troubles....and he would still have the extra one they gave him.
Posted by Auto Bot on September 1st, 2007 @ 11:15am CDT
Now we have SOLID proof that Prime WITHOUT flames looks much better!
I hope Bay sees the pictures.
Maybe Prime can adopt this color scheme in the sequel.
Again... The BEST Movie Prime ever! Hehehe

so yes, this toy does show that the original paint scheme woulda worked but they didnt put flames because they thought it wouldnt, they put flames because Bay wanted some.
anyone on to the actual topic.....yeah thats a pretty sweet looking toy.....but i gotta say, maybe its cuz i got used to the flames with the movie and toys and all but....he looks kinda plain now...sparkleness not withstanding..lol
imagine a chrome plated MP Prime...oooo that would be awesome.

I like the chrome color scheme, but I tell you what, I wouldn't scoff at a Movie accurate Chrome Flamed version either.. I love chrome and think it is the one feature that to this day is left off a collector's item, and granted it flakes off, but "Collector's Item" means to me, display, but not for play!!!

I'd have to say..."no." to that one Ryan.

So true. Its not like our figures are rolling around in a toy basket. I LOVE Chrome on TFs!
