Today at the Hasbro Preview at ToyFair we got to see a nice preview of the video game from Activision. Here are some items of interest:

- Game will be available on: Wii, XBox 360, PS3, and PS2.
- There will be an Autobot Game and a Decepticon Game for Nintendo DS, supporting 4 way multi-play.
- PSP gets a version of the game (maybe different from all), but with 4 way Multi-Play.
- Wii will get special Wiimote functions, such as throwing things, steering, etc.
- You can play as 9 Autobots and Decepticons. Unplayable characters are going to be boss characters or other important charcters.
- There will be unlockable characters and possibly movie characters that don't appear in the movie (like Wreckage).
- There will be G1 references in the game.
- It has a full interactive environment where you can pick things up and throw it at the enemy...including a Burger King sign.
- Burger King and Pepsi references were in the game, so we know they are sponsors.
- As the robot you can punch, shoot, jump, transform at will and drive/fly around when you are in vehicle mode.
- Autotargeting will be available.
- For game play, it reminded me of Grand Theft Auto, where you can run around the city (perspective was similar to GTA). The steering of the vehicle looked well done, where you could oversteer around turns, etc. If you caused too much ruckus the police would come and the pedestrians would go around screaming, especially if you were in Robot Mode (so being in disguise is important). Pedestrian interaction was not completed yet, but we were hoping you could pick up people and thrown them...jthat was ust our suggestion. The ability to use both modes via transforming was very effective because you could get away quick if you were getting beat bad.
- Graphics were very good and very fluid, even on preproduction. Audio track we heard was a generic one for pre-production, but final game will have the movie score. Possibly the voices will be the same as in the movie. Cut scenses are being rendered by a company called Blur (how ironic) that won many awards for game CGI.
- Storyline is different based upon if you are an Autobot or a Decepticon, humans are part of the story, but not part of the game play. Because of the dual roles the Decepticons can win in this one.

Though I must say, this is in the wrong board.

Ps2 Compatible? YES!

I was starting to worry if this was a Wii/Ps3 exclusive, seeing as how I don't have either of those platforms. .__.;

Anyway, the game sounds fantastic. We'll be able to chuck stuff from the environment? Maybe even people? Heeheehee... that will be interesting to see.

Yes, but you will need REALLY good system specs to be able to buy a next-gen game for your PC.

Wow, sounds perfect except for the fact that it's Bayformers and not G1. But it being Activision, I would be surprised if they didn't have unlockable G1 skins. Every other superhero game they've made has had unlockable skins.

Though, I'm still praying for a TF MMO.

this all sounds fine and dandy now but it really means nothing this far from the actual release date. the fact is they're only a handful of really good games every year and the rest are usually utter crap. plus being a movie based game, the odds are it'll suck ass. i always wanted to see a tf game made kinda like the metroid games on cube. those are awesome and i think it could work for tf's. have it first person in bot mode and swith to third person for vehicle like samus and her morphball. anyway since its based on the craptastic bayformers i'll pass. i'm not paying 50-60 bucks just for g1 skins.

As much as I liked the Armada game, I agree with kimmer. A Metroid Prime style game would be perfect for TFs. I actually thought the same thing after playing the Prime.

I'm a bit worried about how the game may turn out, actually. While everything sounds kinda cool so far, it's already being compared to GTA, and I don't like that. I friggin' despise the GTA series. Hopefully it isn't a carbon copy of that. Otherwise, I'm happy to hear Wii and DS versions will be available.

Well, it's good that it's coming out on Ps2, but that doesn't do me much good seeing as how mine is dead. It would be more convenient if it was being released on either X-Box or Gamecube. But I really didn't see a DS version here.......an Autobot & Decepticon version....kinda like Poke'mon! And I am so happy that both Autobots & Decepticons are playable. I just hope there are a lot of G1 references & unlockable skins (G1 Prime, G1 Megatron, etc etc....) I guess the game won't suck......

*edit* Wait, I just thought of something, if there are unlockable G1 skins, that means there will still be the same movie alt. mode, won't there? so even if it looks like G1 Megatron, it'll be a G1 Jet Megatron......luckily Prime has something close to his G1 form...........

Causing chaos in human cities and playable Deceps were the only thing missing from the Armada game. And every free roaming around a huge environment type game gets compared to GTA nowadays. That's just because GTA was the first to successfully pull it off in such a huge way. And PS2? I am definatly getting this.

As it said bosses won't be playable characters, I rekon we won't get to play as Megs. So his G1 skin issue of a flying pistol is mute (even though he was a flying pistol in at least one ep.) But playing as Decepticons in cities and basically doing what Deceps should be: Demonstrating their power to the "fleshlings". I'm hooked.

Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was an awsome game. Every one knows how good the GTA games are. I for one, like the look of the movie, and I'm pretty optimistic about this game. Will it have a lot of replay value...probably not. But it sounds like it will have a killer 4 player mode.

That would be a stupid idea. Why make a Transformers game if Prime isn't playable.

And Activision has already said Prime WILL be playable.

He might be the final boss, too. The Decepticon game is a "what if" scenario, in this case it's "what if the Decepticons won?"

I think that one thing would make this game greater: MULTIPLAYER MODE. That would rock. I also think that what the Armada game was missing (other than CONS) was cities. This game has it.

I want this game. NOW. Beta tests aren't usually this good.

Cool, they're actually doing Grand Theft Autobot!

Image

I made that two years ago, thought it appropriate to bring it up. It's a bit rough I know.

Anyway, I usually avoid movie games, but this is a big exception, and it sounds like a great game. Here's hoping it has a good camera and control.
