Yesterday, the SEIBERTRON.com news staff and other major Transformers websites reported that the Transformers Movie Optimus Prime and Starscream "Protoform" figures were listed on Wal-Mart.com. For those of you who were lucky enough to purchase an advanced shipment of Transformers Movie preview figures from Walmart yesterday, I've got great news for you! I just checked on my order with Walmart.com. According to the website, my order has already shipped. I should have the Transformers Movie preview figures in my hands tomorrow. If that's the case, I will post galleries as fast as I can tomorrow night to share with the entire online Transformers community.
Just so that you guys can join in on the fun tomorrow, here's a link to the UPS page that tracks my order: http://wwwapps.ups.com/tracking/tracking.cgi?tracknum=1Z3AE0121350452988

Just the preview figures (and I think there are only 2 Protoform Prime and Starscream?). Much like The 3 new Star Wars movies each movie had like 4-8 "preview" figures that came out a few months before the main movie toy line. The Transformers Movie Toy Line is supose to debut on June 2nd.
THough your right about it being a little crazy it's only the begining of Feb!

And these two figures are supposed to be released on May 2nd, a month before the rest of the movie figures. This is pretty bizarre in my book.

Ohhh I didnt know that the preview figures were only supose to be out a month before the official line. We are also seeing a lot of finished toys in packages for the movie figures on Ebay and such. I wonder if the whole thing is being moved up?

I think Wal-Mart screwed up. Although this could just be corporate saying, crap we are sitting on inventory, let's ship it before the quarter ends to realize some revenues!

I think that it is. I think someone in marketing said "hey, we need to start promoting this stuff as soon as possible to generate more interest." At least, that's how I feel things are going.

That's probably more like it. Notice that the original links to these items no longer even work. I'm just thrilled that I was able to take advantage of this situation.

Yeah, I didn't really want to do that. But since I'm flying out to New York on Friday night after work and won't be returning until next Wednesday, I decided that I wanted to make sure that I could post the galleries of these figures on the site before anyone else could do it. Plus the way I'm looking at it, this is still probably cheaper to buy the figures this way than it would've been had I bought them on eBay, especially since these somehow came out 3 months early.
I'm very skeptical about all of this. I believe it when I see it later today. I already have my camera packed in my laptop bag so that I can take a couple of quick pics at work later when they arrive. Plus I should be getting Minerva MIB stickers unapplied today (at least I hope so) so it's kind of a crazy day for me to get Transformers.

Back in 2001, I found a few RID's in an electronics shop about a month and a half before RID toys were supposed to come out. So maybe it's legit.

I paid for overnight shipping so that I could post galleries of the figures before I left for New York tomorrow. If I didn't get them before I went to New York, I wouldn't be able to post galleries of them until next Thursday night. I return from New York next Wednesday. I figured since I was getting them about 3 months in advance that this was still cheaper than buying them off ebay and waiting 10 - 20 days for them to get here from Asia.

The lesson here, if there is one, is to make sure the links you're going to include in your posts work before you actually post. (This is why I'm glad a bunch of my old posts were lost recently; I know for a fact that some of the links I had included had since died.)

ShGarland_1383 wrote:It isn't that I doubt ya on this one, Ryan. I know better than that. It's that the link for Prime in the other article doesn't go to what I assume is meant to be Prime's listing @ walmart.com. It instead goes to the official movie site. I also think the Starscream link goes to an error page.

The links don't work on Walmart.com which is why the links to those characters's names link to the previous news article about this.

That makes sense. I've noticed what your talking about myself, so it could be said I could have thought of it myself. Goes to show how sharp I can be at times.

He shouldnt since he looks to be molded in gold plastic instead of plated with it.

Uh that's what gold plastic syndrome is. The metal flake they add to the gold plastic causes it to be brittle and break easily.
In other news congrats on getting them boss! I wish I could have popped on earlier when they were still for sale. I want Prime sooooo badly.

$30 shipped is not unreasonable for them either. I would have gladly paid that to get this early.
Besides, now Ryan has bragging rights at ToyFare.
