Of course, I'd have to wait untill Christmas, though to watch it on HD-DVD, since I'm not getting my 360 HD Drive untill then....

Actually, the shortest theater to DVD time goes to a movie called Bubble, 2006 film from director Steven Soderbergh which came out on DVD the same day as it's theatrical release.
The second shortest theater to DVD time is for the film Surviving Christmas. The movie was released on DVD just two months after its theatrical release, making it the film with the shortest time between theatrical to DVD release. (The movie was also a box office bomb, grossing around $4 million in its opening weekend and about $11 million five weeks after its release.)
Then Justin and Kelly.

Although it would not surprise me if this was the release date of a basic DVD version, with more Special Editions and Director Cut versions to be released closer to Christmas.

Oh good point. If that's the case, I'll wait for the later more elaborate editions.i_amtrunks wrote:It would surprise me if it were true.

I thought they'd release it closer the Xmas, cash in on the whole gift-buying season.

I think that's the reason for the October release. They want people to already own the movie so kids can watch ir repeatedly and ask for toys for Christmas. The more opportunites kids have to watch the movie in the fall, the better off Hasbro will be.

In one trip, you could have the movie, and it's cast.
Smart idea.

Im not gonna complain about such an early release date however as i cant wait to see the movie again, but this just seems too near to be true.
Posted by Bilko90 on August 24th, 2007 @ 12:58pm CDT
my local cinema was playing 'the chronicles of narnia' until about 2 weeks before it came out on DVD.
Hows that?
i hope that date is really true. i would so love it. although...it would make me question what extras on the dvd would be...(ive seen the list) but whether or not they'd be any good either.

It ain't neccessarily too soon. Die Hard 4.0 been confirmed for a late October release date in Europe and that only came out a couple of weeks before Transformers didn't it? I'm presuming the US Die Hard DVD will be well out by the end of October so Transformers mightn't be too far behind

Hmm...true. Im just cynical, and since this is something i really want i dont expect to be able to get hold of it so soon, as i usually have to wait ages to get anything.
