    ROBO-VISION STORY

Blazing down to Earth's surface from outer space comes OPTIMUS PRIME. His protoform mode is ideal for covering the vast distances between stars, and armored to survive the catastrophic descent through a planetary atmosphere. When he arrives, however, his first task is to find an appropriate disguise in which to conduct his search for the AllSpark. As his scanning beam sweeps over nearby objects, he sees the world in the deep red that tells him his targeting and scanning systems are active. Then, his gaze settles upon the coolest thing he has ever seen. Yes, this will be his disguise on Earth.

What does "super metal finish" mean? Shiny paint?

if the only thing different with this toy is shiny paint, i'm getting this instead of the voyager class Prime.

    Fixed.

The link to the Gallery works, and from there the image links also work well.

The thumbnails here also give me an error page.

    Anyway:

Except for the packaging it looks pretty much the same as the final version we saw a little while back. The lighter blue, the silver limbs, and the smaller chest/windshield.

I guess the red Vision gimmick is going to add what $5 to the price tag??? so instead of being $19.99 for a normal voyager its going to be $24.99 for the extra scanning content.

Don't know if it will be worth it though. But i'm still getting this mould one version or other.

Whatever, I love the packaging and look forward to this boxed figure joining my collection of other boxed Primes(as well as all the other bots).

I think he'll look good right next to the 20th Ann Prime

I just got a crazy idea.
Could it be that the Super Metal Finish, is alluding to it being a sort of large Titanium figure? In other words could it actually be diecast in some places?? It be so awesome if it where. But being realistic, i doubt Hasbro would go to those lengths.

Jeez, busy morning, right? Anyway, this is pretty cool. Great packaging anyway. But for some reason when I heard 'robo-vision,' I was expecting a Transformers toy that you could look through the eyes of or something and see stuff like a kalaidoscope or something.

anyone know when these figures get released? i callled toysrus they said dont get them in until june 16 and another answer i got from toysrus is bonecrusher is soldout and they dont know what they get in until they open the boxes them shelves.

and target response was they dont have optimus prime to sell.
Re: New detailed pictures of Target exclusive "Robo-Vision" Optimus Prime (93311)
Posted by Overcracker on April 21st, 2007 @ 3:46pm CDT
Movie figures except for the Protofrom Optimus and Starscream, are scheduled for release in June, one month before the movie.

However some have already started to leak out into store shelves, like Bonecrusher.

but the main stream release should still be in June.

seems this so called "robo-vision" is nothing more than some little decoder you will probably find in your count chokula and frankenberries sometime soon.

You say that as if Count Chocula and Frankenberries are easy to find!

And yeah, the gimmick does seem pretty cheap. If it's going to sell for more than the normal version I'm guessing a big part the cost is probably going to be due to the additional packaging, assuming the normal version is packaged in vehicle mode like the others.

We don't know yet. It's hidden under the picture of the prime head on the package, and I don't have a decoder. I tried squinting, but no luck.

Let's not spoiler the code before Prime's released.

Maybe I'll get both, crack open the normal version, and keep the Target-exclusive in package.

I'll be picking up this and the Leader class Prime for sure! The metal finish just references a glossy paint finish. Hasbro's Venom from the Spider-Man Origins line also had this, as indicated by his packaging. That's all it is, and it's a pretty neat effect!

I am completely happy with this design and paint scheme of Voyager prime. He is awesome, simply amazing. Wow what a difference metallic paint schemes make for this guy. i mean at first when i saw the original voyager prime, i thought meh.. kinda cheap with super soaker guns, the greyish plastic that didn't look like metal, and the horrid blue and red paint scheme with flames... yet when he's been revamped like this with a metallic finish and the colors lightened slightly, it gives him a very distinct and apealing look.. i like him, and not to mention that wonderful pacakging that has him alrewady set in bot mode.. wow!! no need to open this one, just display as is.. like he's in a protectyive container or something.. I wish they could do all the movie bots in Robovision, or atleast in robot mode.. oh well... I will definately pick this guy up and maybe buy the regular voyager class simply to open and display, but he's really low on my list, this Robovision Prime is 3rd o my list of must buys from this movie (Leader class Megs and Prime are first). I will definately be picking him up, he is essentially the best voyager i have seen from this series.. wow what a difference a few modifications can make!!

Oh by the way, Target, can we get a Robovision Blackout?? with remolded dark silver metallic hands, and metallic Air plane dark greyish paint for the body? Now that would be good too, packaged in Robot mode..

Oh, I was hoping for so much more. This is nothing compared to 20th Anni. Prime, were it had me excited, or at least, better detail. It's not working for me either. Maybe when I see it out of the box pics, or in person,I feel different, but now, I don't really care for this movie figure either.

Ill keep this one in the box because the box look sweet. The target exlusives seem to have cool boxes. I got a Boba Fett figure that had a box like this and i saw smaller Star Wars figures with boxs like this. I guess this is the new exclusive box.

I know, when it comes to the package designs for exclusives, Target usually has the best. Besides TFs, look at the Spidey-Man 3 exclusive 2 pack they have with Spider-Man and Sandman, the box actually feels gritty like sand (I think it actually has sand on it)! :D
