The 40th anniversary of Transformers is bringing us a lot of big and new things, but one of the biggest staples of the franchise is coming to an end. With the release of MP-60 Ginrai, what they're calling the 100th MP figure when including certain special edition and limited releases they're calling it quits on the Masterpiece line as we know it. That's not to say we wont be getting anymore MPs at all, but the primary line that originated with MP-01 some 21 years ago will no longer Exist at the end of 2024. A blurb on the
official website for MP-60 and MP-09 states that the line will continue with the MPG line moving forward. Whether this means all future MPs will be combiners of some sort or if the MPG line is being rebranded is currently unknown. What this might mean for the Masterpiece Movie line headed by Hasbro is also unknow, but probably wont be affected by this news, at least not outside of Japan. Until Takara Tomy clarifies further all we can do is speculate. Below you'll find the pertinent bit from the website as translated by Google.
With so many characters left undone it's hard to guess what the future might bring for the line. Thanks to Sabrblade in the Seibertron Energon Pub Forums for letting us know. And be sure to let us know how you feel about what may be sad news for many fans in the forums as well.

We're still a few days away from the official reveal of MP-60 Ginrai and MPG-09 Super Ginrai on April 10, but a new batch of solicitation images have surfaced. Coming via HK retailer HobbyLand (via TFW2005) the new images are not just clearer but also include more looks at the figures and the accessories they both come with. Of note is replacement red eye lenses for Super Ginrai to give him toy accurate eyes, as well as some additional effect parts. Pre-orders will likely open the same day as the full reveal and both will be released in December. Apparently, thanks to some counting system, MP-60 is actually the 100th MP release and the instruction will include a book to commemorate the milestone (that's the blue box in the bottom corner of the last image).
Do the new pictures change your feelings for these figures? Do you plan on buying one, both or neither? Let us know in the Seibertron Energon Pub Forums!

An initial pair of blurry images have hit showing off a pair of upcoming Transformers Masterpiece releases from Takara Tomy, these being MP-60 Ginrai and MPG-09 Super Ginrai, known as
Powermaster Optimus Prime to many fans. These images have been previously posted on
our forums by AllNewSuperRobot, as news on
TFW2005 and many other places around the internet.
Precise details are sparse as the above images show that more thorough information can be expected on April 10th, but we can determine from the above that these are both slated for a December, 2024 release in Japan. MP-60 Ginrai will retail for ¥24,200 while MPG-09 Super Ginrai will run ¥46,200. This breaks down to
approximately $160 and $305 in US dollars for each release, respectively, using the current exchange rate.
Stay tuned for more information on these as it becomes available, including pre-order information.

The Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast is back to roast the news of the day. Host and roast-master ScottyP is joined by Mr. Starscream, Aarnhide19, Kuhlio and Megatronus as we light up the latest leaks, retailer-exclusives, and masterpiece combiners.
Episode #345 “The Roast” is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on Apple Podcasts and many other Podcatcher sites within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.
Here's what we discuss in this episode:
- We kick things off with a quick look at upcoming Amazon and Walmart retailer exclusives, which are a decidedly mixed bag with a few bugs.
- We cover a few more upcoming Legacy United and Studio Series releases, including Cybertron Starscream, and 86 Blaster. Opaque Eject compels some to sing the virtue of miniature Transformers. Minicons, you say? No, never heard of them.
- The Missing Link has been found, and it is gloriously roast-proof. The only question is: will this be a one-off?
- Do we enjoy the MPG trainbots? Yes we do. Are they excellent robots that turn into trains? Yes they are. Is making them combine into a super robot a good idea? Yes it is. Is MPG Raiden good? The only response to that question - it's time for The Roast to begin.
- 40 for 40 is back: the year is 2002. Each member of the Twincast explains their favorite Transformers toy from this auspicious year for the brand.
- We wrap up the episode as we always do, with a round of bragging rights.
