Seibertron member Jeysie has found a rather interesting review over at Ben's World of Transformers.

The review is for the premiere movie length episode of the upcoming Transformers: Animated series, which is set to air on Boxing Day December 26th 2007.

Ben gives the premiere a positive review, going as far as to say:
I think fans who many not have enjoyed the Beast Wars years or the Armada trilogy may actually enjoy this show as it has the most G1 style feel of any Transformers show since "Robots in Disguise".

Of course, as with any review, there are spoilers so consider yourselves forewarned.

Maz, collector and reviewer of rare sometimes odd, and sometimes beautiful Generation One and Two pieces brings us a new item to peruse that is very close to this reporter's heart...

Hey guys,

I've just uploaded an article about another gem of a discovery, a Generation 2 hand-painted YELLOW and TURQUOISE Sideswipe mock-up.

http://www.tf-1.com/articles/other_frame.php?art=g2swipe

Hope you enjoy and discuss plenty!

All the best
Maz

It's so beautiful, I really want one! Well, not really beautiful, but I have emotional attachments to it, and now know where I need to head with a kitbash.

Thanks Maz.

Please check out the original article for the origin on the piece, and more pictures of this beaut!

One of the great perks of living in Japan is being able to get Japanese Transformers and products as soon as they are released. And if you haven't guessed already - I live in Japan; so last week I picked up the new Transformers Collection 2007, by Dengeki Hobby Books.

The book, itself, is 95 pages long and includes Transformers from Takara from 2004 - 2007. The book is divided into five sections:
Part 1 - Movie 2007
Part 2 - KISS Players
Part 3 - Technical Transformers
Part 4 - Various Transformers
Part 5 - Transformers Extras

Not much is known about this book (partly because it is written in Japanese); but don't let that stop you from picking it up. Large, clear, and colorful pictures fill the entire book and are printed on fine quality paper. The figures are laid out according to their toy number. Each character has a stats listing and description. The photos show the figures in robot mode, alt mode, close-up head shots, gimmicks, and automorph features. There is also lots of concept art, which add hours of interest even for non-Japanese readers.

MP Megatron - Concept art
Note: opening chest, the Heart of Cybertron and Spark, the Key to Vector Sigma, and the gun and dagger hilt store in the leg compartments

With only just over a week until the DVD release in the United States, some lucky person has received a early copy of the Transformers Movie DVD, and has promptly posted a review over at hometheaterforum.com.

Video:
Perfect. Stunning. Pick your adjective. Colors are gorgeous and vibrant, details are fine, blacks are deep. Even fog, dust, and smoke looks good, a normal limitation of DVD. Shot and presented in 2.35:1, I cannot imagine this set looking any better. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to pick up the HD-DVD; but the DVD is satisfying.

Audio:
Much like the video, expectations were high. The soundscape is amazing, the score is beautiful, and half of the battle is drawn aurally. Thankfully the 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track completely lives up to expectations. Dialogue comes through crystal clear, the bass rumbles and growls.

Extras:
Unsurprisingly the extra features are plentiful on the 2-disc DVD set, commencing with a feature-length commentary from director Michael Bay. Bay is chatty and filled with information, though he does justify a lot of his choices, explaining how fans reacted and why he disregarded their opinions.

Themed as a series of featurettes dealing with various aspects of the story, the second disc goes through everything you would like to know about the construction of the movie. From the initial story to envisioning the look of the true stars to the directing style of Michael Bay, no stone is left unturned. The documentaries do duplicate a lot of the information Bay discusses in the commentary. Broken down by themes, Our World takes on the making of the movie. Their War goes through the history of the Transformers brand, its fans, and how they translated a cheesy cartoon show into a series of badass robots. Each individual character is broken down from concept to completion. Integrated are deleted and extended scenes, though I would have liked to have them separated.

From “Script to Sand” goes through the mapping of the first scene in the film, from scrip to storyboard and animatics to the final product.

After seeing some of the concept art, I want the book that features it all. Gorgeous paintings abound in this series, which plays like a slideshow, scored to the film’s theme.

One can never get enough mini-cons...

And apparently, this collector has taken it even further than many of us ever imagined possible. He was able to procure himself two previously un-released packages of minicons.

As you can clearly see in the photos, these were ready to be produced, but then trashed at the last minute making only a small handful available (--yes, it's that old story again--).

Black Gears.com was able to get these super rare samples, making many of us envious, and has now taken in package pictures to share with the community at large.

Enjoy knowing that this is yet another very rare collectible that many of us will never, ever own (and many won't care to either...)!

Any fans of the seekers have probably been looking at this picture and the other un-released artworks from G2 and salivating.

Well, prepare to increase drooling, as TF-1.com reviews this very rare prototype toy, G2 Ramjet 'Desert Camouflage' version.

Not only is it fun to read about the history, but it is also very cool (and yet sad) to see the direction G2 may have gone, had it lasted longer. It is also interesting to see the toy piece at this stage, and imagine what it would look like as a completed final version.

Enjoy the review, and remember, our buddy Ramjet gets his own IDW comic book Spotlight coming up this November. Probably won't have the camouflage color scheme, but the tough attitude, and head on collisions are sure to be there a plenty!

For comparisons, you can also check out the extensive Seibertron.com galleries of Generation One Ramjet, and Classics Ramjet, and the rest of his incarnations here!
