Ugh - so much for the "new direction" the 4th one was meant to be taking.

The fact that we're back to the same deal of haphazardly slapping names on ill-fitting characters and therefore completely mishandling them (seriously, they couldn't have at least made Hound a Humvee if they wanted a "cool vehicle" or gone with either Brawn or Bulkhead if they were determined to have that alt mode in the film), tells me that this "new direction" is very reminiscent of the saying "meet the new boss: same as the old boss".

I was open to giving this movie a chance (I refuse to watch the other 3- I hate the direction the 1st 2 took and the 3rd was too saddled by the baggage of the 1st 2 for me to give it a chance), but if this handling of Hound is any indication of the "new direction" of TF4 (this alt mode to me, considering Hound is a scout/tracker, is akin to casting a 7'6, 300lb actor to play a jockey in a movie about horseracing), it looks like I'll be passing on this one too.

Seriously, wake me when the "Joel Schumacher era" of Transformers films is over and we get movies that actually have substance in addition to style.

Whoever thinks this should NOT be Hound listen up. Jeeps and or HMMWV (Humvees) are NOT used over here on a regular patrol basis in places like Afghanistan anymore. This vehicle is a MEDIUM duty vehicle, rolls in and out of the Forward Operating Base I am on, and in today's world would be one of the appropriate alt modes for Hound. Out of those alt modes, this one looks the most bad ass.

At this point I'm pretty much indifferent. I still think it's a strong indication that nothing much will change with TF4, but at this point I've stopped emotionally investing in this movie and can just treat it like an easy pass- just as I have with the previous 3 movies.

Same here. People don't believe me when I say I only watch them because we don't get anything else. I hate the gold teeth, canes, humping, balls, and what not to no end. I honestly really could care less about any of the movies. Yes they had cool moments, like the 'More than meets the eye line', but for the most part I do not like them.

Of course! Don't you know that Transformers aren't supposed to change?? They're meant to stay in one form! I mean, Transformers aren't about changing from one form to another, letalone within completely separate dimensions.

Just think how pissed people would be if they had turned him into a surveillance drone to make him a modern day scout. Especially since that was just soundwave 's alt mode in tfp.

If that's the case though then they should have deviated from making him a military vehicle. Look at what they did with him in Binartech for example and you can't tell me that Jeep Wranglers were being deployed into firefights at the time ;).

The problem Bay has here is that once again he's failed to properly look at a character when changing the alt mode and recognise how the alt mode shapes the character- in turn, either finding an alt mode that does the same job or finding a character who will fit the alt mode. It truly bodes poorly for the other aspects of TF4.

I suggest you both familiarise yourselves with the internet term own goal, because you both engaged in such a large one that you burned a hole through the net.

The fact is that while characters can be modernised and often are in many franchises, there are respectful modernisations of a character and irreverent modernisations of a character . In this case with Hound, take a good look at his tech spec for example:

Hound loves the natural wonders of Earth, prefers it to Cybertron. Brave, fearless, loyal. Secretly desires to be human. Uses turret gun as radar scope, infrared radiation collector. Tracks machines as well as humans. Hologram gun projects 3-dimensional grid laser-light topographical maps. Vulnerable to thermal and electromagnetic interference.

In other words, the core of the character is that he's an explorer in love with everything about the planet, including all its wildlife - to the point whee he secretly wishes he was human. On top of that, his powers are all based around being a scout.

In short your arguments here are utterly farcical.

This is where people fail to grasp how you measure how much of a fan someone is. If someone is just lapping up everything but feels no strong connection to any characters or feels that characters they're not that attached to should be butchered in their portrayals, then they're at best, a fairly casual fan. Hardcore fans on the other hand, are highly protective of the characters, feel strong connections to them and feel that all the characters, even those they don't feel a strong connection to, should be handled respectfully. You can't tell me that there isn't a distinct level of difference in how much of a fan someone is between those two types of fans.

How do you decide on who's in what group? Do you base it on dollars spent, general knowledge, con attendance, number of figures, hours spent watching the various media, whether the movies are tripe or not, if you wear transformers undies? It also makes it easier for there to be a us or them attitude, and I'd rather be inclusive than exclusive.

How you divide it is simple. People either care about the characters enough to want them handled respectively or they don't. Really everything else, including basing it on money, is simply tokenistic.

:BOT: im just curious about hound's weapons, i have many ideas for his weapons
1 As he's a big and heavy character I guess he should have a right handed 6 barrel ion blaster cannon

2 now with his left hand i guess he should have a cybertronian war axe

3 he should have a right shoulder modified mini gun. By modified i mean two mini guns merged on top of one another and has a good heavy stand so hound can bear the heavy fire-power and RPM.

4 for his left shoulder i would suggest an awesome plasma shoulder canon

5 now his fists should be studded with platinum and titanium spikes for brawling,if he ever comes into a fist fight

6 and finally an EMP gun capable of disabling decepticon scums for a good amount of time enough to tear them apart, the EMP gun is located on his back and is detachable

TOTALLY if hound HAS all of this he will be a WAR MACHINE(not the iron man version)

If that's how you wish to see the fandom that's fine, but it's just your opinion. I don't really see how you can divide the fandom into just 2 categories though. If you believe so, I don't , but that's fine for you.
