A guy with a bat and helmet vs a guy wearing lots of padding.

No real specifics about who is fighting, just thought of this last night.

really? I'd assume an aluminum bat (let's say) would give the baseball player a helluva advantage against a guy who's wearing 50(?) pounds of padding

I think about the only players the baseball player would stand a chance against would be a kicker, punter or quarterback. The bat would be a huge advantage if the football player wasn't wearing pads. They hit insanely hard because they're wearing protection. I stick by the football player

This is a good one.

If a good slugger could get a square hit to the helmet, it would be enough to knock the football player out. But if a tough linebacker or such can get past the bat, the baseballer's toast. So using those two examples, I'd give slight advantage to the football player, being the more protected of the two.

Nine times out of ten a football player runs head and shoulders first into someone. Getting at their legs would be kind of difficult...

They're both muscular but American footballers tend to be very strong, heavy and pretty fast too. The baseballer would have to do a lot of dodging and bat whacking to stop a footballer.

Footballers tend to have a lot of concussion and brain injuries. This might help the baseballers in this fight.

The baseballer is outmuscled but he can win if he can hit pressure points with his heavy bat. I know from personal experience that a blow in the solar plexus can bring down almost anyone. The baseballer needs to exploit this mercilessly to win. Otherwise, he gets beasted and it won't be pretty.
