Yeah, and isn't that what this fandom has been begging for since the first movie? Less insectoid faces and more discernible humanoid faces?

Actually, I've always liked the trilogy faces even since the first movie. The Autobots were kind of humanoid, but distinctive enough to be alien/mechanical, and it was perfect.

Now I'm not against change, as long as it's explained. Perhaps these new TF's with the "smoother" humanoid faces are a sub-species of Cybertronian--like how elves and dwarves are similar but different than humans. Just a spoken line or two to let the viewer in on why the new guys look so different, like how Lennox explains to Meering about the matrix and TF's using energon as sustenance during Sentinel's "revival" scene.

It's probably not an issue for most of the fans, but I have a personal peeve against "fanon", and like to have things officially stated in a movie.

I'm not really fond of his head design since it looks generic. I can't help but compare it to Darkseid and the Terminator and Destro and Bane and Doctor Doom and a million other bald bad guys. Lockdown's not standing out, and that's not good. Evidently turning into yet another grey/silver super sports car certainly doesn't help matters.
Hopefully the rest of his robot mode leaves a better impression, because right now he's not leaving any.

Aren't a bunch of the original TF heads based off of samurai helmets?

Among other things. Bumblebee's head looks like it was inspired by a generic Viking helmet with the horn and all.

Mirage's looks rather similar to that of a Pharaoh's crown/head-gear/crest thing.

Streak/Prowl's and Ironhide/Ratchet's helmets, with the crescent moon-like headpiece on the forehead, probably look the closest to a samurai helmet.

Anyway, yeah, Lockdown looks badass. Very Destro-esque. This will piss off some Animated fans.

GOOD

No no, those are MashEms! Squishy throwing things with very little paint. :P

Thank goodness. I was so excited to collect those guys, was going to be disappointed if they were actually squishy, under-detailed blobs. Whew!

What defines a "Transformery" head?

If the head is going to be symmetrical, this is a full head version, joining the halves together....

And here's a little diddy from the Misfits to accompany the image.

Wait wait wait!

A robot with a human face it's different form a robot with a face that has some human featuring. The Lockdown ROTF toy looked as a robot, both in the head and in the body; these AOE toy line is completely different.

How to say... While the previous toy lines where anthro shaped robots (I mean the had head, arms, legs, feet, hands...) these toy line is about humans wearing robot clothes (I'm italian, I hope I've given the idea  ).

Lockdown was one of my favourite TF, and the Lamborghini was the coolest cool alt mode, but these robot is UGLY, like Optimus, Drift and Grimlock.

The more I see this toy line, the more I'm sure I'll not buy a single toy. And going on like this, I'm starting to hate even the movie.

Heh. That actually works.

Barricade - Tranquillo per l'inglese, comunque, tanto qua anche i madrelingua s'impallano. :D

I've just always found their faces to be too busy, complicated for the sake of being complicated. If they are changing the faces to be smother I'm all for it, I think it will help define the individual bots more.

Grazie Va'al! M'hai lanciato un salvagente in terra straniera! :D

In ogni caso, per stare nel merito, credo che la toy line di AOE si preannunci come una delle peggiori, quanto a design... oops, non facciamo i maleducati: ora scrivo in inglese...

Thnk You Va'al: You've given me a lifesaver in a land far from my home! :D

About the matter: my idea stays the same, I dont' like this toy line. I hope the other characters will have a better layout, but it's clear that the general imprinting is "China styled warriors" :-(

But... But... the car mode is too clean! Lockdown needs spiky things NEEDS them! :-( :P

Like the face sculpt, it "is" a bit too clean and mask-like for Lockdown's three toy, and two media incarnations, but its not a bad looking lockdown. If this were the first Locky we were getting after his animated self, I don't think there'd be much outcry specific to him. And I suspect the person who actually owns that Lambo would be vehemently against letting Bay cover it in driving spikes, so oh well.

Hope the fgigure is good, I like my ROTF Lockdown, but he falls apart alot and is rather alien looking compared to a lot of my other tfs. Crossing fingers that he's a half-decent mercenary/bounty huter figure with a nice bot mode.

And a good movie. Hoping for one of those too.
