Doh! Thanks Tim. Should never post 5 mins before bed.

Great to see this thread has devolved into another "waaaaahhhhh I didn't get my precious Welker" thread.

Honestly people, get over it. It really isn't a big deal. Weaving does a pretty good job for the few lines that he does have. And last I checked most people don't even want to accept Megatron as Megatron so why the big fuss?

This isn't the 80's. Get over it, move on. It's not going to be the end of Welker's career. He's probably the second best VA in history so he'll always be in demand.

Now go see the movie and then come back and complain.

We probably will get better results if we push for Welker in the second movie.

The best way to push for frank in the sequel is by not spending money on this one. if you Spend money on the one they did there way whats to make them do otherwise. they know you'll show up regardless if they change it or not.

I think he should play Grimlock in the second movie.

I was personaly thinking if they used similar equipment on Megatron's voice as they did Soundwave in G1... it's be sinister and creepy. ._.

I like how his response to the original writer was very polite and tongue in cheek.

Glad they have Welker in the game, it should keep the Geewunners quiet for a few hours!

Mere seconds.

And don't refer to them as "Geewunners" because i'm one of them and I support this movie.

Cosidering that Megs' is supposed to get beat down in this movie (not a spoiler, just common sense in a movie for the bad guy get beat by the good guy.....Hell, that's essentially all Megs has ever been is Prime's glorified punching bag), I think bring Megs back in the next movie damaged in the same way Bumblebee was to find an excuse to throw in Welker would be very reasonable....it'd be kinda like Palpatine's voice change in episode 3 after the disfiguration. Not to mention, supposedly the next movie is supposed to have Soundwave, so having Welker do both would be an added bonus & possibly cheaper than having 2 seperate voice actors, one of which being Weaving, which I would guess would be costing them an arm & a leg for the name alone.

Like Welker said, though, with the tech they have today, they could make Mel Brooks sound like Megs.....

.....but they still got Cullen for Prime.......

Remember that episode where Megs takes the powers of all the decepticons and Beats the stuffing out of prime in a Duel.

Hey, nobody ever said that sometimes the punching bag dosen't come back & whack you up side of the head....but for the most part, Megs has been Prime's punching bag.

He has done many voices for many movies (both cartoon and live action) and would have been able to adapt to the needs of the movie.

Oh well. Since he's doing Megs in the video game, it'll be easy to "lift" his voice and dub it over Hugo in the movie.

It touched me though that after all the voices he's done in his extremely long career he still thinks quite fondly of his work on Megatron.

Seconded.

Welker just walked all over the hack who wrote the article. The best part: he did it with class.

Welker has probably been doing voice-acting longer than that wannabe journalist has been out of diapers.

Welker can do whatever the hell he wants with his voice.

Welker, Cullen, and the late Mr. Latta MADE Transformers (the show) a success.

F*** this tosser who thinks he knows anything about acting.

Oh yeah, I am one of those loyal "fans" that Welker mentions, even after 20 freaking years.

I still remember how menacing he was in the cartoon movie, esp when he was killing the Autobots in the shuttle.

Yeah, for a while I thought Welker's voice was out of place for the movie design, but then it grew on me after hearing it enough times the youtube clips. Still, I think Weaving could pull it off, even though Welker would make an even better choice.

Spoon... your sig and avatar are more distracting then Burn's... argghhh!!!frustration is killing me..

anyways.. i need a vacation from work...

Welker is great for the Video game.. and if Megatron in the Movie only has a very few lines, then thats ok..Welker hasn't missed out on much.. besides the whole G-1 transfandom loves him and admires him greatly.. granted there are some who are not as fond of his rendition of Megatron.. but it is a distinct sound that many try to emulate.. and as far as i know.. copying is a form of flattery..So If we see a huge Welker influence on Hugo's portrail.. it should only be taken as a compliment regardless of the casting difference..

I had learned to live with their decision of Weaving over Welker, though unhappy. Now I'm feeling pissed again!
I NEVER doubted Frank Welker's ability to reprise the role of Megatron once again, and now I feel proud to have supported him from the beginning. Thanks for everything Mr. Welker

Aye, the man is a genius, and most aren't fully appreciated in their day. Weaving is kool as ice, but he would've been better as someone like G1 Shockwave.
Frankly, I'm relieved that Welker isn't going to be Megs in the film; he made such a lasting impression from the cartoon that it would have been hard to associate his voice with this new design.

Im disappointed that Frank aint in the movie at all. But at least he is involved in the game which is better than a kick in the butt. Im happy that Frank really appreciates the fans. We love you more if you would be a guest at Botcon. It would sell out sooo quick.

I'll say. I seemingly don't like seeing half nekkid girls in sigs or avatars in sites/forums that are the complete opposite. I feel this site isn't even worksafe anymore what with questionable sigs and avatars widely used these days.

Now don't get me wrong, I understand everyone can use whatsoever sig/avvie they want to, but, I just have to wonder. How many of you think about what you're doing? Gathered from my experience from the internet in the 90's, I've learned posting things in places that don't seem appropriate enough just doesn't get you a good result. When I use anime forums, my sig's/avvie's are anime related, as on this forum my avatar is Brawl, etc.

This is also why I don't visit the shootfortheedit.com forums much, the sigs and avatar's got so out of hand at one point the bloody forum looked like a Playboy x Victoria's Secret Bulletin Board. I so did not want to get caught viewing that board at work, it would have equaled an instant loss of a job.

Back to the topic, one thing I truly appreciate is at least Welker is in the game. Perhaps one of the weirdest turn of events has got to be the Keith David thing. Here was a bit of news, Keith would be the voice of Barricade, with the news spreading like wildfire that he's voicing the movie Barricade. With the recent Aussie screening and that voice cast list released, now I even wonder if he's even in the game....

After reading the interview, I confess myself dissapointed that Frank wasn't in the movie. I was kinda pushing for David Kaye as Megs in the movie...that said, it would be interesting to hear Welker's version of a "calmer" Megs
