Michael Bay On Possible Hollywood Strikes Delaying Transformers 2

Michael Bay, director of the Transformers Movie, has once again posted on his website, this time giving us some information about the Transformers Movie's leap to IMAX Theatres this fall, as well as commenting on the possible strikes in Hollywood and how they may effect the production of the Transformers sequel.

Read his entire post over at Michael Bay's website by clicking here.

The President spoke - the same blah blah blah, tweaked smile, like he's pulling to wool over us, blah blah - We are safer at home by fighting in Iraq, yeah right. I feel safe at night spending generations of money we don't have. Bush just wants to prolong the agony until the next President gets in office so it will be someone else's nightmare. At least AIR FORCE ONE will be supplied with the official DVD of Transformers - as requested by the top Air Force General to our offices.

Depressing yes. But I just saw the first IMAX print of Transformers. Not depressing - freakin AWESOME! They need to bottle the magic of IMAX because it's the future of cinema.

It comes out next Friday the 21st. I added some extra scenes.

Transformers 2, well that's another story. Iching to work pre strike (June) so I might jump ship and come back a year or so later cause people at the studio have been dragging for two months. Not sure why. I'll keep you informed.

Bay

So Bay is itching to get started huh? Cool. I'd rather wait for a quality product though then get something rushed.

Hm. I guess it is cool that he decides to tell the public things about whats going on. We all know that this stuff is obviously put through some sort of reverse bullsh!t filtering process, but I think he seems to wants to keep the Fans of this franchise chomping at the bit. You know- the whole Carrot-on-a-string thing.

Why do all of the characters in TF 2 have to be G1 characters? Instead of your idea how about they take the really obvious choices like Soundwave, Shockwave, and Mirage, and then make a few new characters? Barricade was a new character and a ton of people feel he's the coolest 'bot in the movie. So, common sense would tell you a few new characters is probably a good idea.

Also, am I the only one who finds it extremely ironic that Bay isn't a Bush supporter considering his obsession with the military and patriotism? I always pegged Bay for the type of dude that would follow Bush blindly to the gates of hell.

I might do the sequel. I might not. I wanna work on it, but then I'll stop for the strike. Then I might be on, but I don't know.

This article is more on his politcal views than anything else, and I frankly care less about those than I do his abilities as a director. Tell you what, when there's an offical statement about who's directing the sequel, then you can tell us what Michael Bay thinks. The last few bits of "news" from this guy have been pretty pathetic, anyway.

It's news because when the guy who makes the Transformers movie says something about the franchise, it's important. He rarely posts, so when he does, it's news.

Yes, nothing is confirmed yet. But when the man in charge of the new movies says that he's "itching" to work on it, that's a good indication that he'll sign on again.

it's been a slow few weeks for news, I'd figure when Michael Bay of all people says something, fans might want to know about it.

True. I really hate how fans can't look past G1 for potential movie characters, then those same fans claim to be NOT G1-purists, even though they ONLY want G1 characters in the films and want everything to remain as closely to G1 as possible... even though everywhere you turn nowadays it's G1, G1, G1, G1! I don't think there's been this much G1 stuff around since 1984! At least leave the movies for new stuff.

Yeah, that little part put a smile on my face as well. Truth be told I like Bay a little more now!

Unlike some, i actually didnt care about the flames on Prime, not enough to whine about it in every tf movie forum i ever found online and cry like a little baby idiot and send the guy death threats for "ruining my childhood" 8-| I actually like Prime with the flames, they make him look more modern and cooler.

I think it'd be a bad decision to try to get it all done before the strike. I mean hell, one of the biggest sequel killers is not taking the time to develop it into its own movie & purely going off of the original's momentum to try to get people to accept something subpar. I mean, even though it isn't a movie, that's what happened to Halo 2, & although people still say its good, even the development team says it would have been better if they took the extra time they needed to develop certain parts of the game better (like giving the Brutes reactions to being attacked instead of just continually charging at you despite unloading 15 ammo clips into one.)

Wait untill the strike is over & then give us a quality blockbuster.

How about until the strike starts, they would start writing the scripts? So, there could be not so many holes like in a cheese?

Hey Mikey, think you can keep your political beliefs to yourself? The average joe such as myself doesn't give a rats ass about what you think. ;)

We don't pay you to rant, we pay you to make kick ass movies.

Heh, true, but technically we dont pay him ANYTHING. The studio does, then he takes a bit out of the box office gross.

Support for the President does not equate patriotism. The President is a man. Patriotism is loyalty to the ideas upon which America was founded. As far as I'm concerned, Bush is not a patriot because he is not loyal to those ideas.

Bush has told us repeatedly that dissent from him is unpatriotic, but that's nothing more than job security for himself. It's our patriotic duty to question the President. It's one of the freedoms the Founding Fathers granted the public to assure we don't fall into a dictatorship.

So Bay not supporting Bush is not contrary to his supporting the military and patriotism. If anything, it's a symptom of it.

I'd love to see a single example where Bush has said that...

I'd also love to see an example of the war opposing left doing anything to support our troops and their efforts while under fire... You know, more than meaningless words. More than 'saying' it. Showing it. Standing up for them. Praising them. Their efforts. Their family. Not threatening to cut their funding in an effort to end the war.

As far as Bay's political rant, I'd argue we do pay him. If we don't support his work, he's jobless. Something he LIKELY would have been if not for the success of the movie considering his recent rash of box office BOMBS.

So Bay mentions something that every man and his dog has known about for close to a year now.

Although I'm a tad surprised by his rant against Bush, I assumed Bay was Pro war/military...

I love how all this guys coments are about something realy other than what the title sayes with 2 lines concerning the title itself.

If he feels this strongly about the president(who I'm no fan of either) I hope he charged him full price for his DVD.

Sorry that it took so long for me to chime in here, but I just wanted to be sure that he didn't reneg his statments like last time.

I like the job he did for us, but I hate his blog style.

Granted the movie kicked ass, but Bay as a person IS an ass. He flip flops so much I'd swear he was Punch/Counterpunch. Before I say anything else I want to remind everyone that he said he's "not doing a toy movie", that would be like Christopher Nolan saying he's not doing a comic book film (Batman Begins). With that being said, on with the rant-
One min he says he doesn't care what the fans want it's HIS vision, then the next he's leaking pre-production concept art to get their opinion. He gets Cullen because he was the best Prime for the job, but gives the ax to Welker cause he isn't a good Megs, thou from those of us who play the game know that he still is. (And for the record he said that VO actors aren't real actors.) He says he won't do TF2 cause TF1 isn't going to be on Blue-Ray only HD, but then says he changes his mind because he saw 300 on HD. Now he wants to "jump ship" from the studio and come back after the possible strike. If this doesn't show how bad of a human being he is to not stand by his fellow film-maker's side during a strike I don't know what is. Come on people this guy has an ass-hat that rivals Bush's.

What excites me the most about this post is that we have at least 2 year before TF2, if it's anywhere near as poor as TF1 I'm hoping it gets dealyed and stuck in pre-production hell indefinatly.

I'm hoping that if it really gets delayed, they would use the time to make sure that TF2 is better than TF1.
(better not as in more explosions, more romance, more crap.)
