Awesome story. So much came back to me while reading that. While I never worked at McDonalds (My crappy job at the time was a dishwasher), I remember buying the McDonald's toys. I didn't know at the time that I could just buy the toys without the food, so I was actually buying the happy meals themselves (heh). I only managed to snag the Panther and Rhino though. I never really paid much attention to what the box said, so in my mind Panther was just an updated Ravage. Cool stuff.

Wow that brought back alot of memories. I remember getting my first Beast Wars Figure. It was Dinobot. I was at walmart with my dad. We walked by the toy section and he said "beast wars transformers? hey look new transformers." I was so happy that TFs were back. I didnt care that they were animals.Transformers were back! No more power Rangers for me. I saw Dinobot and got him. I dont even thik i really looked at the others.I got DB Because of the name (Dinobot=grimlock=G1) and that he was a raptor. After that i got Igunas and Terrorsaur. A few months after that the show aired and i was hook on Transformers once again. Then all my money went into Beast Wars. Those were the good old days.

That's a really interesting story, Ryan! I've always loved to hear the stories of how people got back into TFs after "the day."

. . . and the McD BW TFs have inspired a great website! Keep up the great work!

Ryan, do you still have the mini-comic book? If so, could you can it into the VSD perhaps?

That's awsome Ryan. The whole story of how I began my hunt for Transformers knowledge began with the Beast Wars and my father telling me of remembering an older Transformers cartoon. And I owe a whole lot of gratitude towards you because this site is where I found a great place to gather knowledge and talk to other fans about the Transformers. Thanks to you Ryan, and I can't wait for more stories like this.

Hey Leonardo,

I most certainly do have the mini-comic. One day when I do the catalogs I might scan it in. :)

Ah, good ol' Wyoming, MI. Before I moved to Chicago, I lived in the Grand Rapids area. I lived at Ramblewood for about a year off 44th st across from Damen's and then moved to the apartments across the highway near Walmart, Burger King and Cracker Barrel (Brookfield?) for about 3 years. River Town Crossings mall is probably the best mall I've ever been to. My Dad and I stopped by TGI Friday's to have a couple of beers on Saturday en route to Holland for the Tulip Time parade.

This is kind of a deja vu for me, since my first figure was a TF:Armada McDonald's Hot Shot, and then I went out and bought the Deluxe version.

Oh... I remember Trans-Forum -- #1 place for G1 screen grabs.

I remember when you first got the Transformers (Cartoon) Movie on DVD and had nice screen grabs from it, including Laserbeak transforming (I believe a series of frames on that).

I remember forum goers like Cerebros and later when it became Seibertron.com, there was Shrapnel and Brendacon and others...

Ahh... memories.
