If he's just the tip of the iceberg...we're in for one hell of a great ride when Universe 2.0 comes out.

Takara doesn't like to do small runs of toys especially if its going to be a new mold unless they can use it elsewhere.

Also curious to see how much these will go for on ebay, he might end up being common enough.

You mean Hasbro...
The Chevy promotion is apparently in the states.
Hence the US instruction booklet.

No, he was right when he mentioned Takara. They both work on the toys in the design stage, and apparently even share the same factories.

1.) NOT FOR SALE stamped TFs have been out for a while on eBay, but they're generally Hasbro figures. Although the Nike bots are Japanese only and they've leaked, along with Die-Cast TFs (which we didn't get here)

2.) All of the Movie TFs are American packaged with a Japanese logo sticker slapped on the front of the package in one spot or another.

So, he's right, and it gives us more hope (along with the instructions pictured) that he'll be a wide release figure later in the line. If they're worried about the license and paying money...Hasbro can just put a different grill on his chest and voila'! A new, undefinable vehicle mold, ready to be purchased by us.

It worked for Movie Swindle. He's a Chevy Cobalt, but there's no mention of it anywhere. (All you have to do is compare him to the real deal, even by picture and you'll say "Oh yeah...")

Pyroclasm wrote:If no one noticed, this particular robot is from Chevy's "Transformers: Rise of the Chevy Autobots" promotion that started sometime before the movie came out. They had an online game featuring several "original" designs. http://chevyautobot.com/ Been wondering how long it would take for them to make these into actual toys.

I couldnt get the site to show me any pictures at all of the Transformers designs on the site...any photos available saved or whatnot?

I just got off the phone with Chevrolet Marketing/Promotions, and they said they have no details on any upcoming promotion to give this away.
The rep did say that their new promotions will begin on September the 5th, and that I could call back to see if the details are available then.
He did say that it sounded a little weird, that they would require buying a car in order to get a toy.
I guess I'll call them back in a week and see if any good news pops up about it.

Maybe it's as simple as taking a test drive? They've done those promotions before. "Take a test drive, receive this:(insert item here). No strings attached."

And uh...yeah. I'd be a test drivin' mofo for Swerve.
