The biggest thing to hit the Transformers Universe in the last 36 hours was the news of Activisions newest addition to Transformers gaming lore: The War for Cybertron! Now, the very people that broke the news first are offering a months worth of coverage on the game, starting with the very beginnings of the Transformers brand and character profiles from the games.

Phil Kollar of Game Informer Magazine, has taken the task on of covering the Transformers franchise's next video game and has posted some great info, like today's profile featuring none other than Heroic Autobot Leader Optimus Prime, who in actuality, has yet to claim the mantle of Leader.

Check out the exclusive profile pics of "Big Red" below:

So, a War Within-styled game? I'm down for that! It looks like this could be the Arkham Asylum of Transformers. And let's hope it actually is.

What I'm happy about is the date. October 2008. That means this game has already had at least a year of work gone into it. Possibly 2 by the time it's actually released. And for games, generally, the more time put into it = the better the game.

Yeah I'm glad it's not just a movie or cartoon tie in trying take advantage of some other product coming out, and rushed to meet that release. A game made for sake of making a great game free of mirroring any other plot points or limitations stands a much better chance at being a worth while project.

Well, I wasn't very excited at first, but I have to say that image of Prime is amazing. Looking forward to seeing how this develops.

That's a nice looking Prime.

See, proof that fans don't mind a redesign of their favourite characters as long as it's a good redesign. Take note IDW.

One of the things that comes up in the trailer is a quote that says "Transmission Date: Prior to first contact with Earth". This game could be the preview for the new show.

EDIT: Whoo, completely midread that quote. Yes, if the game were a preview for the new show, that would be great.

I don't think so necessarily. It's still Hasbro's property and anything relating to the characters and storylines must be approved through Hasbro first. A toy line WOULD ROCK, but it's not a guarantee at this point yet. Give it time.

Thats exactly what I said in the first thread, BEFORE the trailer was even released, but no one ever pays attention to anything I say

Game Informer Takes on High Moon in Transformers Trivia Showdown

Continuing the month long coverage of Activision's upcoming game Transformers "War for Cybertron", Game Informer has posted a video of staffers of GI versus High Moon's Dave Cravens, Cinematics Director of the game, in a Transformers Trivia Showdown!

Who wins this battle, you'll have to watch the video to determine that, but it is comforting to see that one of the main people behind the creation of the already highly anticipated game is a Transformers fan first. Check out the video below:

Well he got most of the canon correct (Leonard Nimoy question is a production question, not fiction-related).

But who WAS introduced at the end of Generation 2? Was it Jhiaxus? I never read the olde Marvel comics, except for what I've been able to pick up here and there.

Ys it was Jhiaxus. I was hoping he would say it because I've had no clue how to say that characters name since reading the first barn door style comic way back when.

Nimoy question was easy for those of us that watch the 84 movie once a month.

I always pronounced it "gee-AX-us." He was named because they feared the G2 comic was getting canceled, hence his name being "Gee, axe us."

Beautiful Optimus! Forgetting that the terribleness that is Animated Optimus exsisted, this already looks like one of my favorite Primes.
