The really big news on Friday was the visit to Hasbro's headquarters in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Our visit included a virtual behind-the-scenes look at Hasbro, followed
by a walk-through of the building. This MASSIVE gallery includes all sorts of cool stuff so make sure you check it out. Click here to check out all of the pics!

Nice gallery. Few questions:

1. Who was that tank? That thing looked AWESOME!!!

2. Was that prop-plane a Bruticus? Very cool.

3. Why, oh, WHY didn't I go this year? (I'm broke)

Great job on the pics.
Glad they didn't make that Arcee...looks kinda dumb. That Defensor RiD repaint looks fantastic too. Cosmos...PLEASE make that! Waaaaaaahhhh!

Is it just me or did that Porsche figure look a lot like a potential Alternator. If it is, it had better get released.

1. The tank was a modified Armada Unicron figure that Hasbro's employees used to show their bosses that they could do a realistic military styled line.

2. Same as above, it was just a kitbashed body with a Bruticus head ... again for demo purposes to their bosses.

Actually, that was the first Alternator prototype which will not be released.

That was just a treat. I love those prototypes and wish they would get to see some shelf life.

Hopefuly, tis new series will have horrible sales forcing Hasbro to make these to recoupe losses.

And on a side note, I saw LeoConvoy, any word of him coming to The States? I have him in a two pack w/ Galvatron. I had both figs out for a while, but now they are back in the box and I don't want to disturb them, but they are lots of fun and I wouldn't mind an affordable double.

But still, that whole gallery was a treat. Thanks!

I take it that the Laser Prime recolour is another 'not to be' figure. I can't make up my mind wether or not it's hideous. The trailer deco doesn't help any but that was always the case with that figure anyway. Small scale Alts would have been nice but it looks like that's one that never got off the ground. A shame that we'll never see the new Alt mould or those Titaniums, but why proto a Jazz when there's already the RX8?

I can just imagine the reaction by a room full of adult collectors being powerpointed through the whole 'aiming at the 3 to 5 year old' bit. I'm taking that as an early indication that the Animated toys are going in a more Armadaish direction. I wonder if there are any early versions of that line to be shown towards the end of the weekend. The promotional material that we've seen so far seems like a pretty finished look, so the toys should be at least well along in the development stages by now.

wah...

So much cool stuff that'll never be released.

Why the **** do Hasbro think this movie is gonna make as much as Tit, Cl and Alt? Why? I may not buy any movie stuff now, just to spite Hasbro. Sure, What I would have bought would only have totalleed a few hundred quid, but that's a few hundred quid they'll never see!

I want:

That Cosmos, Shockwave, Arcee and Bumblebee/ CliffJumper set. So badly.

I hate you so much Hasblo. Always shitting on the fans.

That Evac repaint of Blackout is amazing! Finally some love for a really cool non-G1 character!

Those concept sketches for the movie characters are horrible though... like, really horrible. People can dislike the final movie designs, but I think we can all agree they are improvements over these sketches (the old Bumblebee head looks so freakin' scary... )

There are so many kick ass figures there. Uf they didnt want to make titaniums then they should've used the molds to make classics. We could've had a last wave of classics. Such a waste. At this rate we're never going to get a good Arcee or Shockwave.

The big tank shown in bot mode, as well as the large prop-plane with the Bruticus-like head, were Hasbro's attempts at the military Alternators we heard rumors about a few years ago. I'm guessing we will never see these in the stores. Maybe one day as part of the Masterpiece line or a similar line in the future, but I doubt it. Very cool, and I'm sure all Alt and MP fans would have bought them, but I guess we'll just have to enjoy the pics and think about what might have been.

That Porshe WAS an early version of Alternator Jazz. It will not be released.

I like the RiD Defensor, too. Very cool.
Love Cosmos, Shockwave, and the rest of those cancelled Titaniums, except Arcee. While the car mode looks cool, I have to agree that the bot mode looks kinda dumb. However, since SO MANY fans want a G1 Arcee, I bet it would have sold well, anyway.

I also like the Blackout repainted as Movie Evac. I've read some dislike about the colors, specifically the orange, but since its a rescue helicopter, I think its fine. But when I buy this guy, I'm calling him Blades, which, I think, is a more appropriate name, since the Blackout mold is able to actually use the `copter blades as weapons.

Like the desert camo repaint of leader Brawl. Very, very cool. I like the Osprey in general, but if his hands stay rotors and don't transform into real hands, then I'll pass on him. Too bad, because he's very cool except for the rotor blade hands.

And finally, there is a slide called "3 Phase Marketing Strategy" and at the bottom right, under "Post Movie New Animation" it says, "More focus on core characters." So, since we've seen that there will probably only be 5 Autobots in the new cartoon, maybe the stories will allow for lots of character development.

Overall, I like what I see. Based on the various slides, it really looks like Hasbro is aware of the various male demographics that like Transformers; from 2 to 52, it really looks like Hasbro will be releasing TF toys for everyone. Cool. :)

I would have bought that Shockwave, Arcee, Cosmos (he's never looked better), and I'd punch a baby for some of those war propaganda posters.

Cybertron Optimus could have been so much cooler. Ah well.

It's a shame I'll never see that MP Starscream at Quebec retail...

Still having a look through, the Red concept version of Movie Ratchet along with the concept of the Red transformer with the giant swords look awesome.

RiD Defensor looked pretty messy to me though, it does grow on me after looking at it for a while but initial reaction was urgh.

All in all it looks like it was a pretty awesome tour to go on.

I don't see a single "Janitor" voiced Prime voice changer in any of those pictures. For some reason I find that hilarious.

And I really dislike that "Focus on 3-5 boys" for growth....Uh...They tried that with Armada an it failed miserably. Why do it again?

And I have to say that prototypes always seem to look a ton better than the final piece molded from plastic. That proto of Ratchet looked gorgeous...The final release...Not so much.

That G1 voice changer is laughable at best. Can you imagine those things sitting on the shelves?

And that Shockwave looks wonderful...And we'll never see it. So freaking sad.

Oh also. What did they have to say about Leader Class Brawl? I saw the images of the guy showing him off.

Awesome photos, I really would like to have been there. I thought those propaganda posters were awesome. Also looks like the movie designs could have been a lot worse. Like everyone else I'm banging my head over why they are not going to produce those titaniums.

I would actually have preferred this design. It's a bit scary around the mouthplate, but I immensely dislike the skinned-face look with the rounded eyes.

For some reason that design reminds of the new TF Animated Optimus. I don't know why, exactly, since this one looks way better, IMO.

I've been lurking around here for months now. Got back into TFs when Classics came out and am now hooked (just like when I was 5 and G1 was in it's glory).

Anyway, after seeing the prototypes of SW, Arcee, Cosmos, etc I felt I had to say something. I totally understand and agree with Hasbro's use of the movie and it's toy line to create a new generation of fans. That's smart business, but I feel that they are not exploiting the movie properly.

So, you've got a new generation of fans who dig the new movies. They will buy up toys for the next 2 to 4 years (given that at least one sequel will be made, plus the new cartoon). The generation that grew up with G1 are the parents of the new generation. I know that many people my age are excited about the new movie for what it is, but I've also spent time at work on several occasions reminiscing with co-workers about G1. More than a few of us have figures or statues of TF characters on our desks (usually Prime or Megs).

So, after all that, what I'm getting at is this - Hasbro should continue with the G1 inspired toys so that when parents take their kids to buy the new stuff, they get sucked into buying the G1 era Classics/Alts/Titaniums. Even if the G1 stuff was produced in more limited numbers, I think Hasbro could still make money off of the "oldsters" who would be even more likely to feed their kids need for the movie/animated toys.

Am I completely nuts here, or do you guys agree?

I'll agree with anything that will get us more classics.

But seriously, I really don't think that you're wrong.

Maaaaannnnn! Why couldn't they make that Arcee figure? I'd have payed $15 for that without even thinking bout it. ; ;
