i think Furman might have said no TF deities, or fembots... :-?

I can't remember which...

or maybe both :???:

If Furman did, i'll let him slide on this one. She might even be a he...

I always liked the idea of female transformers myself... but I'm an odd person anyway.

I also thought that the idea of TF gods was pretty cool to, I hated the Quintisons and the fact they made the transformers in the original series seemed to take away something about them for me.

Grimshock wrote:Interesting to see that Furman compromised his beliefs. Now he's gone back on one of the few things I agreed with him on. It just keeps gettin' worse and worse. Glad I stopped buying comics.

I'm not sure if he has overriden this stance in a later interview, but what Furman actually said was "I'm slightly ducking and diving around the issue of "˜female' Transformers until I can find something, a rationale, that works for me (and for the rebooted storyline as a whole)...Every time I try and rationalize gender in giant robots it makes my head hurt."

So he didn't say that he would NEVER address or include fembots.

Without splitting hairs, the bottom line was that he did not believe in gender in TF's. That's why his head would "hurt". It's sad to me then that he would incorporate something he doesn't believe in.

Personally I think it is great that he is going to involve himself in something he has already stated he does not care much for. There are many fans out there who love the Gender issues in Transformers, who are going to lap this up.

Thinking about Megatron Origins, where we had a few female looking bots, I wonder if Furman's Arcee Spotlight will be taking place/flashbacking to pre-Megatron days, or if it will retcon those few panels from the Origins series???

I really hope we get some pics of Jhiaxus, really want to see this guys IDW design.

I can go along with the sayan prince's post. to me it seems like he's trying to find a away to use what a good part of the fans want, even though as a fan and writter he is on the other side of the line.

Think if someone who was a big fan of the smurfs, but didn't quite like smurfet, was given the chance to revamp the series. Knowing how much of the smurf fan base actually liked the non morphing mini mystique, it would be a disservice for him to intentional exclude her from the series without making a honest try to work her in.

But this could be were that Grand Ma, and the red headed step smurf came from.

Actually, I think SPOTLIGHT: WHEELIE is what everyone LEAST expects.

Actually the spotlight I least expect is one that I cannot even think of right now...it would probably be focused on one of the japanese only exclusive characters.

I wonder if they will do Spotlights for Beast Wars? :-?

That's the one I was mainly thinking of, but Silverbolt, Black Arachnia, and Depth Charge would be some others I'd like to see.

And I'd like to see a Spotlight on Pre-Earth Rattrap.

Nah quite a few people expected it (I expect we will get one) seeing as he had his cameo in Spotlight Prime. Wheelie is spying/doing something that will end up being very important, I am sure of it.

That's for the next month! ;)

Hm ... I personally like Wheelie. Everyone's animosity towards Wheelie and Daniel makes me think that I ought to draw up a few ideas for a Mosaic page or two. Hmm ...

You know, I have nothing against the character himself, just how he's been portrayed thus far. His original bio depicts him as being something of a survivor, didn't it? Heck, I used to own the toy, and I always liked it.

The cartoon depiction with its blasted rhyming was responsible for the hate people feel toward him, and the UK comics followed suit. He hasn't exactly been given the variety that characters like Blaster and Grimlock enjoy between incarnations.

I think IDW actually could make something out of Wheelie. If they portray him in a new light, show off his ability to survive, endure, or potentially some eavesdropping abilities (Because honestly, for all we hear of it, I've never seen Bumblebee do all that much spying), I think I could come to like him. The one time we've seen him so far he hasn't been rhyming, and that's a good start.

Wheelie could potentially be a great character. I can imagine him being a lone survivor of a shipwrecked Ark or an escaped prisoner making his way through a Decepticon penal colony. Or they could do a whole Lord of the Flies-type storyline with him taking charge of a group of lost Autobots. Or he could even be an Autobot version of Swindle, bartering and trading just to make his way through.

They need to lock you up in Furman's suggestion box and let you out on non workdays :P

I don't know about this, I have never liked Arcee that much. Really the only female transformer I have ever cared for was Black Arachnia. Switch her and Arcee in this and I would be all over it.

Awesome! I always liked Arcee, and even though they made the token female Autobot that horrid pink, I appreciated how she rarely served as a damsel in distress and instead consistently behaved as a competent and skilled character. Now we're seeing Arcee with a vengeance. Whatever the backstory, she's clearly gone through some nasty times, and it looks like she's standing up against the wrongs of Autobot history. I've mostly waited for the TPBs, but I might just pick up this issue.

personally i cant wait for this the arcce spotlight, i'll admit i definatly wasnt expecting it, and it may bring a wanted/unwanted resolve to the gender issue!
