In my defense, the thing that really got my goat was calling Sky Lynx obscure.

Regarding Crosscut and Acid Storm, they had the benefit of being ways to milk molds of characters that are more known - Crosscut was a logical choice as the alternate head for a Skids mold, and Acid Storm was "Guy they could redeco Starscream as that wouldn't undermine the recent convention exclusives".
Come to think of it, Generations Sky Shadow (the first recent(ish) Black Shadow toy we got) was the same way as Crosscut - a logical (because the original Black Shadow was a retool of the original Thunderwing because the Pretender concept fell flat in Japan) retool of the Generations Thunderwing toy to milk the mold. And TR Sky Shadow was made as much as a way of getting more out of (most of) the Overlord mold as he was for his own sake.

Also, if you're talking about the Fearswoop I think you are then he's really a Hooligan homage ;) :P

And Punch reusing Breakdown's wheels it looks like. ;)

Regardless, the backpack isn't due to the combiner limb nature of the Moonracer mold's engineering. The backpack is due to the fact that Floron the Moron Dery gave the Female Autobots curvy robot modes and angular vehicle modes and the designers are trying to accommodate both.

The "shell" method is used quite a bit in transforming robot engineering, not just by Hasbro or TakaraTomy. At least the shell is still attached to the body, I know of one example in which the (anime-accurate, BIG emphasis on "anime") robot just kind of folds up and has the separate vehicle shell dropped right on top of it.

Anywho, I don't know which Chromia to go for. The T30 Prime Arcee retool just for being unique, or the Siege Moonracer part cannibal for being similar.... :-?

All fair points - and apologies for snapping at you earlier! Interesting thoughts on Sky Shadow... at the time I thought that a giant Flywheels would have been a better pretool of the mould - but what do I know!?! Obviously they were saving the Flywheels homage for the Siege line!

Bah. That's a corporate excuses.

Partly. But it's also just the way the size class system works. As far as the Hasbro toylines go Transformers has been grouped into rigid, uniform size classes since the days of Beast Wars. And the plastic-per-item limit is the overarching rule by which each size class is defined. Not the height, not how much space it takes up, but how many milligrams of plastic go into it.

CW Magnus(UW, whatever) weighs a full ounce less than Siege Magnus. Mass limit thrown straight out the window! :-D

So, in handling Siege Magnus, I've come to a realization I didn't expect too: If this is what getting a "white prime with armor" leads to, I no longer want it that way.

I used to wish the Magnus figures we got all had that gimmick from the '80s. Now that I have it in hand, its very disappointing. I much prefer the Magnus that is just all one figure. It makes for a vastly superior figure.

So are you saying that CW Magnus shouldn't be classified as Leader class because he's lighter? Or that Siege Magnus should be called a Supreme class figure because he's heavier? Does one ounce make that much difference? Is there no margin of error?

Uhm... Maybe we should look less at Ultra Magnus because his inner robot is scaled to be the same size as Optimus Prime. On the side, did we ever weigh the two with standalone Shockwave?

The way I see it, size classes are redefined with each line, with Leader simply being "anything that has more than a standard Voyager", especially with nothing higher like Supreme any more (not counting Titan with a single release each year). Prices remaining the same or rising due to costs and other factors does hurt, but for curiosity sake, what would people think if the MSRP actually dropped significantly?

He's saying he wants leader class figures to scale with leader class figures from prime trilogy, to heck with anything else to do with the figure I think; and he does have stubby thighs, I think they could have easily added a bit of length there and moved the pegs on his inner legs upwards a little to compensate, but, you know, scale >:oP

I don't think he's ever going to get it...

SIEGE Magnus being an ounce (and only an ounce - how does that throw the mass limit out the window? ) heavier than CW Magnus means that as far as mass - the overarching measure - is concerned he is in fact still a leader-size figure, even if you call him a "glorified voyager".

For my money, it's not a choice between a full-size magnus and a small Magnus; it's a choice between two different undersize Magnus toys.
Yes, you read that right.
In my book CW Magnus is ALSO too small for a Generations Magnus (because he too is only a Leader-class toy), and due to his design he is unsalvageably so. SIEGE Magnus despite being smaller overall at least has a cab robot that's the right size, and to me offers more fun value as-is because of having a cab robot at all. And, like I keep saying, said cab robot's design leaves the door open to bigger trailer armor.

Picked up Siege Megatron at Belleville Target today. I'm definitely a big fan of this line as I see more and more of it. Still searching for Ultra Magnus in the St. Louis area (found Shockwave about a week ago).

First off, I finally found some Siege figures at retail that aren't just Battle/Micro Masters I didn't want, in that the Walmart here at school got in the Wave 1 Deluxes, so I have Cog now! I can't Weaponize anyone with him yet, as he's the only figure I have on-hand, but he's been really fun to just play with on his own, I love him. He looks awesome, his alt mode is easily the most Cybertronian of the 3 Siege figures I have, he's a new character for Generations compared to a decent amount of this line, and I'm just going to headcanon that he builds weapons out of himself when the situation calls for it anyway. What's that, a Con cut off his arm? Pick it up, reconfigure it into more weaponry, keep fighting, worry about it later.

Because I bought Cog, I figured I'd mess around with the code site, and it's alright (I'm glad Cog is listed with an actual job/position as Mechanic, he's not just a drone!), but I realized some stuff because of it. Me being me, I paid probably a bit more attention than I should have to the figure numbers on the site, because apparently that's what I do now, and I came to some interesting conclusions:
-The numbering system for WFC Siege (it seems like it is just Siege figures) goes up to at least 51
-The site does not list Masters of any kind with data entries, so any skipped numbers are likely those size classes
-If the numbering goes in both size class order and release order, with exclusives coming numerically after Leaders, then numbers 26-29 are either a combination of Wave 2 Leaders and exclusives or all exclusives that come out between Waves 2 and 3
-Of the 33 figure releases that would/should get codes by the site's criteria (everything bigger than a Micromaster), we know 28 of them from combining the officially revealed/teased/released figures with the 2019 product listings and the Walgreens Ratchet listing, although the evidence of another female combiner limb Greenlight provided means we can probably bump that number up to 29 (and this is assuming the Firestormers only have one code)

So 30-33 are mixed Masters (heh) that we have yet to see, as are 44-47, and unless I've missed something, there are 5 figures coming that are Deluxe class or larger we know absolutely nothing about, 4 if we assume one is Lancer. Thoughts?

That's what the Firestormers are, that listing was primarily called the Firestormer Pack in the product listings. We also know it includes at least one other figure that begins with the letters "Ai".

Also I'm really hoping that that Sideswipe will be both G2 and combiner-compatible, but that's probably unlikely.

We don't know the actual wave breakdown, but we know the remaining Deluxe characters:

Brunt (Weaponizer)
Impactor
Mirage
Red Alert
Refraktor
Barricade

Barricade is the only one that hasn't been officially announced yet but hasn't shown up in art and leaks. That's 14 figures to PotPs 13 Deluxe so it isn't likely there'll be another Deluxe in this line. We might actually get two figures in wave 4 this time, can't picture them doing five in wave 3. Probably Barricade and Red Alert since they're repaints.

Thundercracker and Springer are coming as Voyagers, most definitely wave 3.

Optimus Prime (Ultra Magnus retool) in wave 2 and maybe a third new mold for wave 3 are likely it for Leaders.
