Just curious, is there a precedent for making a toy of a comic only character that is no longer in the comics? Scrounge I guess, but he wasnt released on his own and was just a redeco with a new head and an enlarged hole.
I would like Tarn but he is so damn niche for a toy of his class (voyager?) that I dont know f Hasbro would do it.
Anyways, about Skyshadow, there is no doubt this will be a new mold (not a redeco of Sixshot who is getting redeco'd already) and will get a redeco as Thunderwing. While I am not fond of redecos for the hell of em, this one makes pefect sense and i dont mind it one bit. Hasbro said their reuse of modes would be smarter for Titans Return and this is a good example of that.
However, him being a pretender turned into a figure with a titan master means that the next phase wont be a redo of pretenders.
Also this would assume that we have at least the following leaders coming out next year at retail:
Sixshot, Skyshadow, Overlord and Thunderwing (with Delta Magnus and Quickswitch being part of boxsets).
Dont know if we will get another one since we only got 4 new leaders this year:
Skywarp, Powermaster Prime, Blaster and Soundwave
Generations Straxus Darkmount. Released to mass retail by Hasbro in 2010, never appeared in the IDW comics again after 2008 (and was only ever a bit character in there back then anyway).william-james88 wrote:Just curious, is there a precedent for making a toy of a comic only character that is no longer in the comics?

Good stuff, good stuff. But is it the same thing as Tarn getting a toy? Straxus (and scrounge) are classic comic characters. Would Tarn be seen the same way?
The new IDW characters and designs we did get in toy form that I know of are Gen Deluxe Megatron, Drift and Minimus Ambus and those were current (principle) characters that stuck around.
Tarn had a bigger presence in IDW than Straxus ever did.william-james88 wrote:Randomhero wrote:

We got Skids too and loosely Trailcutter and Hoist, the leader seeker mold, leader megatron shares some design detail from IDW, thunderwing was heavily based on IDWs and Blurr, he has IDWs head mold and Orion Pax figure. There's a bunch

It'd be glorious and amazing
One of my favorite Fuzors in Leader class? I'd buy that for sure.Carnivius_Prime wrote:Emerje wrote:Dr Va'al wrote:Sky Shadow!
PLEASE mean we've got a Leader Thunderwing in our future!!
Emerje
I want a Voyager Thunderwing. Deluxe was too small... Leader is far too big.
He's usually shown in the comics as larger than average, especially if this ends up being done IDW-style where he's massive, nearly combiner size.
Speaking of IDW, anyone notice that the last three mentioned Leader class figures are part of Megatron's "Warriors Elite"? Bring on Heretech and Killmaster! But more importantly they are also "Point One Percenters" with unique sparks. Six Shot, Sky Shadow, and Overlord are all .1%ers, as well as recent releases like Fortress Maximus, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Minimus Ambus/Ultra Magnus, and Shockwave. Strange coincidence, right? And only Shockwave isn't a Leader or larger. Maybe Grimlock, Scorponok, and Tarn could be coming soon as well?

I still say Straxus is an obvious and fitting retool of Galvatron. The robot modes aren't a great match because of how boxy Straxus is, but with some clever retooling they could get an update that looks close enough. The artillery modes don't need much retooling at all. I don't know who came first, but Straxus could be Galvatron. Or the other way around.

Jhiaxus. Windblade. Victorion.
Also Nova prime if you count battlecore OP.
Edit: also the rumoured nautica coming next year

Jihaxus was around before IDW, Windblade was a toy first and so was victorion. The comics are just cross sale platforms.
Nautica is a good example though.

His face design and color scheme are IDW-inspired, but the character concept itself originated from Marvel G1, with Animated being the first franchise to give a toy to a character bearing the name.Hellscream9999 wrote:william-james88 wrote:MemphisR56 wrote:Jhiaxus. Windblade. Victorion.

I'm no comics guy, but does sentinel count?
