I'm looking at the Titans Return molds and I can't help but speculate (and/or dream, really) at what they could do with those molds. Given the extensive re-shelling we've seen lately it seems like they might get some more mileage off those molds to make new toys. Ideas such as:

Overlord as a Titans Return Megatron/Blitzwing retool. We've already seen them doing Powermaster stuff as Titanmasters. Overlord was a jet and a tank so it doesn't seem too odd to me they could remake him/them as a triple-changing Voyager-class Titanmaster. Sure, a brand new mold would be awesome but at the very least it seems a plausible retool. Takara might have things in store forn Overlord, however.

Star Saber is badly in need of a new toy. If there is a decent spaceship mold for Voyager or Leader class planned for Titans Return down the line, I could see Star Saber getting a new toy. I could also see such a mold redone into IDW's Nominous Prime, considering we got an IDW-inspired Sentinel Prime in the line. I could see a lot of mileage out of a voyager-class price point spaceship mold, really. But, again, he might be more of a Takara thing.

However, beyond the rumored Vector Prime retool of Alpha Trion I am mildly puzzled at what this line could actually do. There aren't really that many Headmasters (or Powermasters), sadly and it seems the more I research plausible retool the more I just find japan-exclusive characters who seemingly would not really be all that popular in the western market, except of course for the collectors and fanboys.

Overlord was already teased at botcon this year

He's coming, and he's likely to be big (but not too big, i.e. voyager/leader class)

Yeah Overlord is already confirmed for 2017 and its thankfully not a retool.

That slot on his chest looks like a possible place. Maybe it was put there not just for the transformation which I assume is its function, but also for a Third-Party add-on?

No but I mean, it would obviously go there in robot mode; but what about when it goes to train mode?

Yeah, that tab is used to hold the wing to the body in train mode. As for where the chest wing could go? Dunno, maybe it would have to be set aside... there really is no free space in either mode, it's a very concise triplechanger

Just picked up Hardhead and Clobber.

I've gotta say, Hardhead is nothing special, but, damn, is he such an amazing, solid figure. The vehicle mode is reminiscent of the scorpion tank from Halo, so that scratches my Red vs Blue nostalgia, and the robot mode is just a nicely solid, chunky bot. The gun is dumb and useless, but, fortunately, he looks like a brawler, and the shoulder cannon looks great. Wouldn't mind a BMach tankor from this figure, complete with a tankor-shaped headmaster.

Clobber, is almost as great as Crashbash, it's so cute, which is doubly hilarious and adorable, considering it's Grimlock

(bet he has more self-loathing than BW2 Hellscream)

I really bought him for the sole purpose of replacing Furos, who is horridly wobbly in Hardheads' bot mode. The grey on Grimlock Clobber matches the grey on Hardhead so well, I feel no shame disregarding Furos - but I do wish they had gone more War Within and molded teeth into Grimlock's mouthplate.

I must be slow, I just noticed that this pic is nothing more than the two silhouettes overlapping, therefore not a true indication of the combined vehicle mode (if any).

So Tidal Wave does have some precedence to that, unlike Cloud Starscream's (OoC) Tank Mode.

I find it funny that the second biggest (not counting combined modes) figure in Armada has what I believe is the tiniest minicon. Yes Ramjet is in pretty good scale to Tidal Wave but it's still hilarious to me.

oops! i just scrolled up! & noticed that it's actually Overlord, but...i s'pose they do share similar duocon engineering(i mean with the merging of two vehicles to form one robot)

Seen that way, I do believe Duocon would be the best way to categorize Overlord.

Overlord was officially classified as a Duocon in Allspark Almanac, so... yeah, Duocon

Whats weird is that in the IDW comics, the Duocons were a group of 2 individual robots rather than one both that turns into 2 individual alt modes.

I saw two Scourges at Walmart today with a difference in packaging. One Scourge was packaged with a clear elastic band securing the head in place. There was a Blurr on the shelf packaged the same way. The other Scourge did not have the elastic band and tapping on the package I could tell it had the "bobblehead" connection. The packaging information on the bottom was the same so unless someone here can tell us otherwise I'm guessing Hasbro made a quick-change with their packaging. But I don't know so I figured I'd let you know what I saw.

True, but his altmode did consistently fly in the Armada cartoon, rather than travel by water.

Double-check and look specifically for the production code that's punched into the back of the card instead of printed. If they're different, think you could get them and compare? Packaging variants usually indicate running changes, Generations Brainstorm had exact the same thing happen.

My only worry with Overlord & like with this new 3P figure that we're getting.....is that i hope they don't scrap the base mode with this Titans Return version?(coz they are with that 3P), coz where would be the titan master playability then?

Huh? Flywheels was a Triple-changer and Battletrap hasn't really appeared yet.

I highly doubt they'll scrap a base mode. It's the whole thing of the TR leader class. The only leader in TR that doesn't have one is Sixshot, and I think it's pretty clear why the guy who has six modes didn't have an attempt at another one fitted in. Overlord should be easy by comparison; if the original toy could do it, no reason this new one can't. Just take the old one as a blueprint and give it added features and articulation.
