That is a HUGE shame. Maybe wave 1 doesn't kinda like Combiner Wars?

Nope, it's already been confirmed that every Deluxe in Titans Return will not include the comics. If you would like proof, I suggest you check out the stock images of the figures for the first 2 waves.

That sucks man. That sucks. I guess if they left the comics out so they'd have more money to make the toys better, I guess that's okay though.

I honestly don't mind them not including comics. Since I don't read the comics, whenever I got a Deluxe Clas figure from 2014 or Combiner Wars, I got a comic where I had no clue what was going on.

Yeah true, but it was nice to have them for the artwork and collectability.

That's true, though I honestly believe it was for the best, so people who don't read the IDW aren't conpletely confused by tge comics and so they can put a little nore money into the figures themselves.

And plus, I think they needed more money for the Titanmaster gimmicks.

To be fair, the combiner wars comics weren't brilliantly executed.
Don't get me wrong, it's IDW and IDW is god. But thete was no real rhyme, reason or correlation to which comics were packed with which figure, and they weren't easy to add to your collection not just due to the edits, but because they were so random and ramshackle. They wete only really good for a little peek at what IDW was like.
At least in Generations, while this still held true for the most part - Skywarp's comic has him in the background on one panel on one page, nice - at least with say, Trailbreaker he came with spotlight: trailbreaker. This works as a standalone issue, is relevant to the toy and gives insight onto at least one version of the character you just bought.
Meanwhile, if you bought First Aid? Have fun with this contextless random issue of RiD which you don't even get the comic number of so you can't easily look for which comics immediately precede or follow it.

*grabs the comic that came with CW First Aid* Uuuhhh... I'm looking at the bottom left corner of the inside cover, where it clearly says in large bolded letters, Transformers Combiner Wars #12. So yeah, it does say what issue it is. Am I the only person on the planet who found out that the issue numbers are on the inside covers in large bolded letters?

I mean to be fair - and to be my own devil's advocate - they were free gifts which is difficult to complain about. And I am glad to have a small little collection of random idw comics now, just... That's all it is. A random little collection. Not as great as having a trade collection or eveb a few standalones. Being a bit of a broken record but it only worked well for cases like Trailbreaker and Hoist.

To be fair, if they were a self-enclosed entity, they would have been nice - if I had bought them all... and that's really what it boils down to, was that it was a secondary incentive to buy all the deluxes, which means that not doing so would leave you with a fragmented story at best, and mean that they were ultimately worthless in this case (which, I would imagine would be most of the time for us - or most people)... so, yeah, I'm glad they're gone, I'd rather the budget for them was put into paint apps, or something worthwhile >:oP

Yeah, but it doesn't say what issue of RiD it is.
So alright, say you got every CW deluxe (ironhidesh' greatest nightmare). You can look inside the covers of the comics, and see what order they go in. Great. Brilliant. You now have an actual reading order so these can start making sense.
So where do these fit into the actual RiD comics' numbering? Okay, I know it's "Combiner Wars 12", but how does that help me find where in the comic series it happened outside of the ones that happened to be packed with the deluxes?
... I'm going on too much about this. This is what happens when titans don't bother returning

Don't forget that CW wave 1 was all international packaging, so we didn't get the first four issues of CW comics. (Well, #3 came in Quickslinger...)

So, yeah, I guess I am glad they are not packing them into TR. It means that I don't have to buy every last one of them just to get the comics...

Of course, I'm so addicted that I will still likely buy every last one, but one can hope....or one's wallet can hope, I guess...

See, what they really should of done was make each issue a standalone story that tied into the idea of combiner wars but telling individual tales instead of lazy reprints.

It could of been the perfect opportunity to showcase the best aspects of the IDWverse but it was flawed heavily.

Making a comic book is quite a process. It would take months of planning alongside the planning for the toy...not to mention the creative side of writing a story that doesn't suck...

Yyyyeah, while I am saying cases like Trailbreaker are far better, I wouldn't expect - and certainly wouldn't want purely put of concern for the idw guys - a standalone comic made for every single deluxe. Hell, the IDW CW tie-in done enough damage as is. While I'm stating their randomness and irrelevance as a flaw... It is something that one has to accept regardless going in. Unless they all had spotlights or the like before, it just wouldn't work out well for anyone.

Lol I was mostly saying that just because it was you saying it.

But yes, on one hand I am disappointed, but on the other, I'd rather the money go into improving the figures.

I was trying to day that I'm ready for these figure to come out over here in the United States because I already have money set aside for the Titanmasters, a Legend Class figure, and a Deluxe Class figure.

Yeah I am wanting to hopefully get a TR figure or two when they come out. I think they are gonna appear at U.S. retail around my birthday which is July 7th. What do you think? Should I get a deluxe and a legends figure like Blurr and Wheelie, or should I get a voyager like Sentinel Prime?

At the end of the day, it's your decision. Personally, 100% yes to Wheelie, sure, he's annoying like you, but unlike you, he's a damn good looking figure. :-P

As for Deluxe ... again, personally, I'd go one of the "traditional" Headmasters like Hardhead.

IF you want a Voyager, skip Sentinel and just go for the Astrotrain repaint, he'll look better in your collection.

Gotta agree with Burn, the plastics used for Sentinel look absolutely dreadful - much to my dismay...

You snarky blighter! :P

Wheelie does look excellent. I also am definitely getting Blurr at some point, but I was wondering if I should put him off for the sake of getting a larger figure. I do like Astrotrain a heck of a lot better than Sentinel. And although I am probably gonna have to get Galvatron to go with the other season 3 guys, he looks too pathetic for a first figure to get from a line.

Which is why I said "personally.

I have no real interest in Blurr. While he may not be overly representative of his G1 self, I like the CHUG Blurr in my collection. (Though if I see him in stores my opinion may change)

Dude, no. You want him, you get him. You clearly want him more than any of the larger figures, so why put him on hold for something you don't want as much? Do you really want to run the risk of him selling out and you're forced to the secondary market to find him? All for the sake of getting a larger figure?

He seems nice, but the lackluster paintjob is a real turn off, if I can get him for ~$10, I'll nab him.

Based on the way people were/are scrambling to get the Legends Blurr, I don't think he'll have a problem getting a tr version :-P
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

Yeah that was what I was thinking. I should get him when I can. He's a way better Blurr also than the older Generations one. I think getting characters I am way more familiar with and love is more important that getting a larger one mostly because of its pretty orange color and sheer size.

I have a feeling that kids seeing him in stores are gonna like him a lot more than most collectors.
