Filled with repaints?

Not including the Legion class of course:

Let's see, Straight repaints: Deluxe Slash, Deluxe Slug, Deluxe Bumblebee and Voyager Grimlock, Leader Prime.

Retools: Deluxe Drift. Deluxe Crosshairs

100% New Molds: New Deluxe Bumblebee, Barricade, Beserker, Squeeks, Steelbane, Voyager Prime, Voyager Hound, Voyager Megatron, Voyager Scorn, Leader Megatron, Dragonstorm

Did I miss anything?

Likely to get new molds too: Cogman, Hot Rod. Several other characters seen in the trailer still up in the wind.

So far, 5 out of around 20 molds are straight repaints.

Don't forget the redder redeco of DotM Voyager Prime.

Has that been confirmed as part of the general TLK line? and not some exclusive one shot for a store or something like that?

I see.

All's I'm saying is, there sure are a lot of repaints, in a line that, in comparison to older lines is very small. Yes drift is a heavy remold, but imo, the robot mode is a huge downgrade so, to me, the remolding is pointless, but that's just me. However, let me make this clear, I AM impressed by the actually completely new molds, I just wish there were more of them.

Also, I've heard this around here before, but what exactly did they change on the new crosshairs other than paint apps? Just curious.

Do you know something we dont? There have been no pics of that Dragonstorm toy yet so if you have them please share them.
If you dont, then we cant give it a guarantee its new and not a retool of Prime Predaking or something else. Point is 100% proof should have proof, like a picture.

You are also missing voyager BB but, like Dragonstorm, we dont know for sure what it looks like yet.

Cogman will have a one step and tiny turbo changer but you dont count those and Hot Rod wil probably be a store exclusive, which you arent counting either (because or else, your amount of redecos would increase a ton).

Well, we've seen the 1 Step Turbo changer Dragonstorm which is a new mold, so it stands to reason the main line toy would be a new mold too. No pics just a general assumption on my part. I don't see how Prime Predaking could be made to look like a movie figure. Especially given how the Turbo Changer we have seen looks nothing at all like Prime Predaking.

Did not know we were getting a voyager BB. Is there any reason to believe it will be a repaint / retool from a previous figure? i.e HA Bumblebee?

So no Deluxe Cogman? No regular release Hot Rod?

what I'm saying is generally the repaint count for the main line so far does not seem to be out of the ordinary, and its been for characters that seem to have the same model they had in AOE, so its understandable they get the same mold.

ROTF started out with repaints of Voyager Prime, Ironhide, Ratchet, Skorponok, Bumblebee, Barricade, Grindor (from Blackout) etc... That's 7 figures right there in the main line again not counting legends or 1 steps or whatever.

If you counting exclusives and other things too, then the other movie lines had tons of other repaints as well, including repaints from older lines like energon and cybertron.

These lines have always had repaints. Its normal.

There is only one deluxe for the mainline that is still unknown, so it cant be both of those.

AOE had 0 straight redecos of previous movie toys in the mainline, TLK has at least 5 (not counting legions) so yes this is a definite downgrade from the previous movie line, in terms of the amount of redecos. I have no clue why we are debating facts here.

Please read my post well instead of arguing for argument sake. I repeat:

AOE had 0 straight redecos of previous movie toys in the mainline, TLK has at least 5 (not counting legions)

The toys you describe are all store exclusives, and TLK line has a bunch of redecos for that too. We expect redecos in store exclusives since less are made and are not released in mass.

Then again, AOE had less toys in general when compared with other movie lines.

But compared to the TLK line it only has one less deluxe and one less leader with the same amount of voyagers. I am comparing TLK with the previous toyline, why would we be comparing AOE to previous movie lines instead of the actual movie line this discussion is about?

AOE had 10 original fully new deluxe molds. The most TLK has is 6 (and thats IF the final revealed deluxe is a new mold).

Thats appaling.

I'll agree, AOE did have more original molds over the entire line. We've only seen part of the first few waves. No way to tell how many more new molds we'll get before this line is over. Not to mention that some of the cast (Crosshairs, Optimus, the Dinobots) haven't changed designs, so it makes economic sense to reuse previous molds. That doesn't mean the entire line is doomed or anything, just that we haven't seen the full extent of what this line has to offer.

What I really don't like is not only TLK is repaint galore, but these repaints are 33% more expensive for voyagers and a whopping 50% more expensive for the deluxes. Some do have nice paint like voyager Grimlock, but other are just plain insulting like the 1st wave Bumblebee.

I picked up a couple of Tiny Turbo Changers at my local Target today. I got Grimlock and Hound. I have to admit, they're surprisingly fun!

On a side note (and please let me know if there's a separate thread for this), but has anyone ever had an issue of random strangers on the street judging you for buying TFs? I'm asking because of something that happened today. Again, please let me know if there's a separate thread for talking about this kind of stuff.

Anyone else fluent in Shelfwarmench? From my translations, cyberfire means, "Unsellable gimmick" (it's a contraction). Acorn Scorn will fly off shelves, but will probably be rare since Grimlock clogs shelves. Allspark tech, or known in Latin as, "startpackius dependium" will almost certainly flop due to an intrinsic flaw of line-wide unique item gimmicks.

When I started toy collecting 10 years ago, I was pretty embarrassed when I bought the toys. Now I'm 40 and I just don't give a single fok. No matter if I carry robots OR dolls.

Looking back, I acted like a kid back then, when I felt self conscious about buying toys. People WILL judge you for anything and everything. The mature thing to do is just to say "screw them" and do whatever you want.
Well, as long that it's legal that is.

Final word from C.S. Lewis:

C.S. Lewis wrote:Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

BombshellDaBug wrote:On a side note (and please let me know if there's a separate thread for this), but has anyone ever had an issue of random strangers on the street judging you for buying TFs? I'm asking because of something that happened today. Again, please let me know if there's a separate thread for talking about this kind of stuff.

When I started toy collecting 10 years ago, I was pretty embarrassed when I bought the toys. Now I'm 40 and I just don't give a single fok. No matter if I carry robots OR dolls.

I don't get it so much in actual toy shops for some reason but at car boot sales I do. Cos some of the parents act like I'm trying to grab all the cool cheap TFs for myself. One started talking to me friendly at one point and then looked at the figure I had in hand and said "oh, are you buying that for your child?" and i replied "my inner child, yes" and she got a bit snarky. :P
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool! :)

Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot)
Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron
