Listening to chuckdawg's review right now and it sounds like he missed how to pose Steeljaw properly as well. Bummer! Can't wait to share pics of him posed properly in my gallery later tonight or tomorrow.

And he most definitely has elbow joints, Chuck!

I was surprised when i saw BBTS sell out of some pre orders. I personally am not a fan of the art and the toys look even more cheaply made. Bumblebee looks like a jock to me for some reason. I dunno I guess its the big chin and neck. I might be interested in a leader Prime figure though

Glad to see Chuckdawg and some of the other early reviewers got it wrong with Steeljaw. He's the one figure from the line-up that I'm actually looking forward to, for obvious reasons. All the naysaying was apparently unfounded! :)

I responded to Ryan on my youtube page but I'll paraphrase it here; I was applying an above average amount of force on the elbow to try and get it to bend. I even went back and took the recommendation of a viewer and tried bending the arm while pulling, the thin gray plastic making up the bicep was bending in a way that caused me concern it was going to break. I was also concerned the blue forearm piece was going to stress and possibly crack the pin. I'm haunted by memories of toys breaking in my hand, I know what plastic feels like when it's going to break. Now the balance issues just might be due to mine having loose hips but I still don't like the permanent knee bend.

For the record I didn't pay the scalper prices on Amazon. They've been floating in and out of stock since a week or so ago, I got lucky.

I mentioned it on the comments for the Legion figures; I made a mistake and was recording the audio from the wrong microphone.

One of the elbows on mine is the same way. The other moves fine. Grimlock's were also very tight, but once moving them a few times, they were ok. Some weird tolerances on some of the joints now that they're trying like hell to not use pins.

The left elbow on mine is the more challenging one to move, but it will with some light pressure. It's not like first waves of figures are difficult to find at retail once they start showing up. It seems like the fandom forgets this every time a new series comes out.

That's the trouble spot for me too, but like on Chuck's, it really feels like it's gonna just snap if I try to move it. Will probably take it apart over the weekend and do some extremely minor sanding.

I just forced it to move ... I figured if it broke, I'd just return it to the store once I can get another one.

The store would take it back? This happened to me once but I contacted Hasbro instead of returning it to the store. It's a QA issue so Hasbro complies with that, but I didnt know if the store would see it as a defective product instead of a simply someone breaking his toy.

But asides that, I am curious about the judgment given to this figure. It seems that Seibertron sees it as fine because the final toy he is holding and playing with works well, regardless of how it first appeared (needing the extra force for instance). However, Chuck encompasses the need for the extra force in his review. The fact that one might rely on being able to return a product in case it breaks might be seen as a negative for his judgment on the figure regardless of how great the toy is once the elbow (or any other defect) is fixed.

As for me, I am just waiting for it, still buying it on sight, these decepticons look very imaginative. And the hunched look is definitely intended for this robot mode given the subject matter.

When it comes to any of the big box chains (Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Kmart, Meijer, etc), of course they'd take it back or provide you with a replacement! Make sure when you return a broken product that you put a sticky note on the inside of the package that specifies what the problem is with the toy and make sure that the person working at the customer service desk is aware that there is a problem with the toy (and point out the note on the inside of the package) so that the toy doesn't somehow end up back on the shelves. I assume that the store should be able to get a credit for a faulty product from Hasbro or however that process works.

Yep. In my retail days you should have seen the stuff we took back, no questions asked. Got a receipt for the item? Is it within the stated return policy time frame? Done and done. Had a guy that would check over all the opened returns, and either mail em back to the vendor or mark them down for resale.

So when I return a broken item with a note in it stating what's wrong with the product, would Target/Walmart/TRU get a credit on their account for that item when they return it to the vendor?

I just noticed this because of EmGo's review, but Steeljaw's Decepticon symbol on the grill of his car mode is made to look scratched out. I guess they ARE doing the "Decepticon turns Autobot" thing with him.

It's at the 2:55 mark.

Interesting. Can anyone else confirm with their in-hand Warrior Steeljaw figures that the Decepticon logo on his grill is "scratched out" and this isn't just a case of EmGo getting some bad QC paint apps on his particular figure?

EDIT:

Nevermind, Seibertron has already done so.

Maybe Steeljaw has renounced the Decepticons, but isn't necessarily joining the Autobots. I could see them using the "Lone Wolf" trope with him. He just wants both sides to leave him alone to do his own thing. Maybe he would be helpful to Bumblebee's Autobots on occassion, but isn't really comfortable being a team player, a la Wheeljack earlier on in the Prime series (which is silly for an actual wolf, the "lone wolf" legend isn't really based in realistic wolf behavior at all, just superstition and misunderstanding). Maybe in time he'll learn that "Friendship is Magic" (TM) and warm up to the Autobot cause. Who knows? Should be interesting to finally see what Steeljaw is like on the show. Too bad the toys have NO biographies on the back of the packaging.

William is in Canada. They have slightly different retail laws there, so his asking about returns is not surprising. Some countries don't even allow retail returns once an item's been opened. We have it good here, and we sometimes take it for granted, myself included.

I just found the whole first wave of Robots in Disguise 2015 figures in my local Toys "R" Us tonight. That includes the Warriors, Legions, 1-Step Changers, and 3-Step Changers. I picked up a Warrior Steeljaw and his "Mini Me", Legion Steeljaw. (And also another AoE 1-Step Changer Steeljaw. Don't judge me.) Anyway, I can confirm what Seibertron has already reported, that Steeljaw can balance without using his tail as a support. You just have to adjust the knees slightly to get him in a steady standing pose. Also, my figure's left elbow joint moved easily, but the right one was VERY tight. Forcing it was causing the upper arm strut to bend (not a problem, as it is softer, very tolerant plastic. No stress marks resulted). I finally got it to bend without trouble by pulling the forearm and upper arm apart from each other while simultaneously bending the elbow joint. Worked flawlessly then. As another note, something I hadn't seen featured in earlier pictures of the Legion Class Steeljaw is that he has a tail too! It folds down from his back/top of the truck. It leaves a little gap back there, but for the size of the toy, it's very forgivable for the added detail for the character.

I found all of the Warriors Legions, and One Step Changers at the TRU nearest to me, but I left them alone since A) there are still some AOE and other figures I'm going after, and B) I want to wait and see what Takara will do with these figures in their Transformers Adventure line since these toys need a LOT of paint to be more show-accurate.

Wolfman Jake wrote:Maybe Steeljaw has renounced the Decepticons, but isn't necessarily joining the Autobots.

Or maybe he simply sees anyone who isn't his follower as prey.

New Pictures of Transformers Robots In Disguise 3-Step Hyperchange Optimus Prime

Fellow seibertronian Lockdownhunter has made us aware of a new Robots In Disguise product listing from thetoyshop.com: Hyperchange Optimus Prime. The listing only included 2 pictures of the toy in truck mode, one of them with the figure in mid-transformation, or so it seems.

This toy would be from the same size and complexity class as Hyperchange Bumblebee and Hyperchange Grimlock, who are both currently available for ordering online.

I know they're simplified kiddy toys, but I really hope Hasbro makes the entire RID cast at Hyperchange/3-Step scale. That was the only other thing keeping me from buying the AOE Flip and Change figures, aside from them all being floppy messes.
