I think is because Canada is more « relaxed » in regards to certain things. I believe the rating system in the US says that if the F-word is used in a film, it automatically jumps to at least PG-13 (or 14A or something like that).
Whereas in Canada, we can say « sh*t » on TV and it doesn't even get bleeped out!

G not recommended for children? here in the US movies that are rated G are mostly film for children. canada's got some really interesting way of rating movies.
