It might be more believable if the girls were more masculine on the gender spectrum. But cross-dressing isn't exactly widely accepted yet on Earth, sadly.

And, is their straining to transform any more disturbing than G1 Starscream's groans and screams as he tried to transform after being hit by the Transfixatron in "The Autobot Run"? Or the Maximals doing the samething when they couldn't transform at the beginning of Beast Machines?
