It's G2 launch.

Don't worry, you're not completely alone. I like 'em too!...could be because I don't have any variations of the Aerialbots. But still, I like them and I'll probably be adding them to my shelf.

If my eyes dosent deceives me, it's IS a tiny bot hiding in a shell. No matter what they call it.Burn wrote:-Kanrabat- wrote:And Skullgrin is a headmaster in a tiny pretender shell!
Nope. What looks like Skullgrin is actually a "Prime Master" called "Liege Maximo" that hides in a "Decoy Suit".
So our hopes for a modern Pretender line is this ... yay.

So much good, bad, and ugly.
Leader Rodimus Prime look mighty sweet... from the front. But from the back, he look like a hollow shell. Is there some hidden feature yet to be revealed?
Voyager Starscream. Look great, but I fear it's one of those lazy "bot under a jet" design. Can't deny the quality of his paintjob though.
Dreadwing/Darkwing are combiner limbs! And Skullgrin is a headmaster in a tiny pretender shell! Does that mean Power of the Primes will be Combiner Wars and Titan Return plus a new twist all mashed into one line? Anyway, so much to love!
One thing that I expect is that the price will surely follow the TLK 1er line. Those figures look far more "premium" than the previous Generations ones.

I wonder what will be the gimmick here though.

Prime Master shells: Hands and feet?
Just thinking that Liege Maximo's Skullgrin shell sits awfully flat in weapon mode and sort of resembles a foot. I wonder if there's a flip up peg hiding underneath Maximo's head? And what if they went a step further and the combiner head was just a helmet to stick a Titan/Prime Master in?

Still, I do hope they'll make the Evil Trio this way.

The gimmick is the Prime Masters "power up" the bigger bots (like Hot Rod's armour into Rodimus Prime. Basically Power Masters and Head Masters).
Did you read the news or are you just looking at the pretty pictures?
william-james88 wrote:Look at Rodimus
So this line is offering us 2 possible ways to get pretenders both reworking the pretender gimmick in its own way.

The hands/ feet are the armour accessory that come with the deluxes. You see it in this image:
Its just the same HFG but now with an extra peg inside it to accomodate the Prime Masters.

Exactly. It's just Hot Rod with a trailer boost. Not exactly an "evolved" character.

Seriously I don't get how anyone can be remotely interested in that Jazz when the RTS mold blows it away (I have the Takara version up for sale cos I'm culling down a bit on G1 update figures in favour of my movie stuff).
I've wanted revamped Pretender shells for ages and this is what we get? And the previously creepy-shelled Skullgrin gets cutesified like a Funko Pop figure?
Really the only figure here which fits it's purpose well and works for fans of the original G1 toy seems to be Beachcomber. Whom I have zero interest in (even have the previous 2008 figure here i found at a car boot sale, selling it with some other similar sized figures)Kurona wrote:Personally I think dismissing Darkwing and Dreadwind as Aerialbot repaints prevents you from seeing the positives they do have and realising they do actually look like decent figures, but hey, I guess positivity just isn't fashionable these days.
I didn't actually recognise them as aerialbots as first glance cos I was so excited to see the return of these two characters, an excitement that quickly vanished when I realised these figures kinda suck. And theeen I saw them for what they were. Lousy CW crud.william-james88 wrote:Also, am I the only one who finds it pretty nuts that they introduce a modernized gimick of a smaller transforming robot who turns bigger with a giant suit on.... No I already commented earlier that they should have waited for this line before designing Powermaster Prime.
This looks like a total mess of a toyline. That's cool. I'll save my money then.

I'm not sure about this one if its a Pass or not, since the TR Hot Rod looks more better anyways.

Maybe get POTP Rodimus and TR HotRod and replicate the scene where he is transformed?
