Most of mine are in my detolf, they are treated a bit more special that way since they don't really scale with anything else and aren't really designed to go anywhere else.

my Beast Wars MPs are on the Beast shelf, filling in holes in the collection. and then MP-10 Ghostbuster Prime is on the Ghostbusters shelf

Meh, I tend to put my MPs together if there is more than one versions. Like for Optimus, Megatron, Starscream... That include 3P "MPs". But most are on the shelf with other generations of the same character. As in my MP Bees are in the Hive, MP Ultra Magnus is with his G1 and Siege self, ECT.

They don't get transformed as much so I usually display them next to a vehicle mode toy version. Diaclone or none show mps tend to get a decepticon sticker (road rage, tiger tracks etc) on them and go on a repurposed autobot display.

My mps get to 'adopt' other bots that stand next to them because they have no one to display with/incomplete (orthia fembots, artic megs, red wing, voyager brainstorm). Grimlock would join his third party team mates in bot mode or be Dino mode with g1 stuff but he's in storage with g1 and never met his team mates yet! 3p dinobots did get the most transformation/changes for display but since a leg fell off scoria during a transformation I don't tend to any more (think it's a case of a screws thread being damaged/simplish repair).

My City Bot displays are for my mold variants and I have a separate Masterpiece shelf. Currently, Hot Rodimus stands among half a dozen from the Beast Wars.

Yes. "Special," "expensive" or whichever you prefer always engenders preferential treatment. If I decide not to display my Generations stuff, I'll throw them into a box. The Masterpiece figures, should they not be displayed get transformed where necessary and stored in their packages, which are also painstakingly maintained.

As I'm about to finally acquire MP-44, my MP-10 will be going back in his box.

Why would you want that hideous awful abomination that has a needlessly complex transformation because it's trying to duplicate the animation model's dumbing-down and that even dumbs down its looks to try and match the animation?

In my opinion, MP-44 is a vast improvement over MP-10. I don't think it's worth the asking price, but if you're gonna have a MP Prime, 44 is the way to go. Only good thing about MP-10 was the vehicle mode. The robot mode was off.

I love MP-44. The only thing not to like about it is the price. But I'll still probably suck it up and buy it one day.

What was really wrong with mp 10s robot mode? Looked like Prime to me.

One thing that drove up the price is that insane trailer with all those features. That count for a lot.

But personally, the best MP Optimus for me shall remain MP-01 forever.

Y'know, every time I pull that big guy off the shelf, I am constantly impressed with how great he is. I was really disappointed when they downscaled the MP line away from that figure. (Let's never mention his Megatron counterpart) for almost 20 years, that definitely has been the defining Prime for me. MP-10 wasn't different enough for me to buy it. I really REALLY wish there was an MP-44 without the trailer and without the sound clips but I do think he's good enough for me to get one day. Especially to go with my MP-36.

In the other thread you said MP-44, MP-46 and MP-47 take cartoon accuracy "too far." I don't think you can take it too far, if that's what you're going for - and that's what they were going for. If you don't want one, don't buy one.

As far as fiddly transformations, I don't care. I just want an Optimus worthy of standing opposite my MP-36. Not saying MP-10 isn't worthy, but they both look closer to the animation models together. Plus, it's something my son and I can bond over. He's the one who's been watching all the reviews on YouTube and saying "Dad, when are you getting MP-44?" So, in that respect sharing Transformers as a hobby with my son is a dream come true.

Well, I cheated and got myself the Transform Element OP Leader as my "toon Prime". It's way, way more affordable especially if you don't need the extra bits like the trailer and sound box. He's beautiful looking in both modes but the transformation is fiddly city... yet oddly interesting.

Recently, I transformed back my MP-10 for comparison shots and I thought he was "hard" to transform. Man, I handled ROTF deluxes that were more complicated than MP-10. This remind me that MP-01 is long overdue for a transformation. It's been a while since I played with him and after handling Civil Warrior General Grant and Binaltech Jazz and my Gobots collection, I feel like I need MORE of the cool and heavy feel of METAL robots.

Ha ha no. Not in my book. AFAIC it's a hideous abomination that must be purged, and there is NOTHING that would change my mind. I wouldn't buy that disgusting piece of filth (or its repulsive brethren MP-45 and MP-47) even if Takara bundled in a free Grand Maximus or even a Planet-class Unicron. My opinion of those MPs is so low that I think making reissues of non-transforming fast food premiums would have been a better use of the plastic.

I think you're mixing up MP-10 with MP-01 there. MP-10 has the superior robot mode but some questionable things about its vehicle mode.
IMO NONE of the three tries thus far have gotten either mode all the way right. But comparing MP-44 to MP-10, I say it's MP-44's robot mode that's off. By a country mile. Any improvement in proportion (which I dispute) is outweighed a thousand times over by it emulating the cartoon to the point of dumbing itself down (The full-blown Dery Diaper, the vanishing leg wheels, the flat red and blue, the thighs being gray rather than silver-chrome, the almost-flat unpainted leg vents, the unpainted arm arrows, the fuel tanks being nothing but blocks of kinda-sorta the right shape, etc.), by the excessive complexity required to accommodate all that bullcrap, and by the damage done to the cab's towing bed (it ends up looking worse than the G1 toy's featureless bed). MP-44 is a poster boy for Cartoon Accuracy Gone Wrong. It doesn't look like a Masterpiece to me, it looks like an OSKO Heroes of Cybertron figure.

AFAIC MP-44, 45, and 47 (which I know from hearing people talk about it suffers in quality because of the vanishing kibble bullcrap) are all worthless.

..Perhaps I should stay out of this thread... Because those three, especially 44 and 45, really grind my gears and make bile rise...

Just accept that there's things other people like that you don't and nothing that exist is a "definitive". Toys, opinions, life, everything WILL change one way or another.

MP-44 = G1 cartoon Optimus Prime (A.K.A., to many people, "how Optimus Prime is supposed to look")

MP-1 = Beast Wars cartoon Optimus Prime (according to one of the designer interviews, MP-1 was based mostly on the Mainframe CG model)

I dunno what MP-10 was based on.

When a Transformers TOY makes your bile rise, the problem isn't with the toy.

And The Headmasters was animated by Toei, who used the same animation models that they used to animate Seasons 1-2 and The Movie for that show's returning cast, with the sole exception being Rodimus Prime getting an all new animation model that differed from the one Toei had previously used for him during The Movie (and which AKOM used in Season 3).
