Back when Hasbro unveiled Armada Megatron, they strongly hinted (without stating outright) at a forthcoming Tidal Wave figure to combine with him, but whether that will be a Commander or a smaller remains to be seen.o.supreme wrote:As per usual with these lists, there's no mention of the CC or Titan. The Headmaster also would have been a Triple Changer, turning into a sort of armored four-wheeled rover (Roller II?) and robot as well as a rather silly looking Optimus Prime head with four vertically aligned wheels jutting off the sides. It seems that when the extra Headmaster gimmick was scrapped, the super mode head remained separate rather than being reintegrated into the trailer hitch such as on the earliest design. Notably, the body of this design is extremely close to the final design.

Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

It's likely just a head retool of the Voyager Animated Optimus that's coming before it, since that's what Animated Motormaster looks like and is what his original toy was.Sowndwave76 wrote:I'm also interested to see what has been done with the design of "Animated" Motormaster, but with the previous Animated releases, my bar of expectations is pretty much on the floor.

OK, just for clarification, was this directed at me (since I mentioned the lack of combining in my post), or were you ranting at Geewunners in general?First-Aid wrote:Sabrblade wrote:And let's face it. Many of the complaints about the Animated Stunticons not being a combiner came from people who wanted a new Classics-style Menasor and didn't really care about the Animated universe or its aesthetic. They just wanted a modern G1-ish Menasor and were mad that BotCon 2011 wasn't gonna give them one (as if they would have ever happened in 2011 regardless).
This is what bugs me about Geewunners. They are never, EVER happy. Unless it's exactly the same g1 figures EVERY SINGLE DAMN TIME, they whine, wail, gnash teeth, and cry until the streets are flowing with saliva and tears. Each "new" line (and I have to put new because at this point HasTak has no damned originality and can't create but Geewun redux) the Geewunners complain that it's not, you know, G1 despite it still essentially being g1. You know what current toys have that G1 toys never had? Knees and elbows. Seriously they need to quit their crying and just accept that we aren't in G1 anymore and either move on or sulk and hide in a corner and STFU.

Still hoping that G1 Hound happens, and surprised that none of the lesser known Insecticons are being released knowing they'll just be retools/repaints of Shrapnel and Bombshell.

...
And as for the insecticons, we got one of the lesser ones in last year's creature pack.

Don't mince words. How do you REALLY feel? I find it ironic that you choose to complain about someone crying and whining by . . . crying and whining. Believe it or not, everyone has the right to have, and extoll the virtues of, a preferred aesthetic. Not just you. Some of us have been collecting these things since the mid 80's, when these characters were established and first entered the culture. Seeing these characters redesigned as something that doesn't match their established look and features is a bit like seeing a documentary of the American Revolution with Ru Paul cast as George Washington. "Creative" and "innovative" as it may be, it's not historically accurate and therein lies the issue. Create a new character. Stop recreating existing ones. But maybe that's just me. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
As a devoted Geewunner, G1 toys make up less than half of my current collection. I collected Armada, Energon, Cybertron, RID, Beast Wars, Alternators, Universe, Generations, as well as a good number of other transforming lines that had no connection to the Transformers at all. I do have a few Bayverse and Animated figures, but I have to admit they were gifts by well-meaning family members. If I like it, I'll get it.
But Animated isn't the same history as G1. It's a completely different non-G1 world entirely.Brokebot wrote:"Creative" and "innovative" as it may be, it's not historically accurate and therein lies the issue.
They did. G1 Motormaster was never a pastiche of Macho Man Randy Savage nor an undercover circus performer. And, appearance-wise, G1 Motormaster didn't look like a black recolor of Optimus in robot mode, neither. That's all unique to Animated Motormaster. And he has no rivalry with Optimus like G1 Motormaster did, nor is he a combiner. He's his own new character with his own characteristics that are all his own.Brokebot wrote:Create a new character.
Then you're not a Geewunner and no sane person should ever want to be, because "Geewunner" is a derogatory term for those who hate anything and everything that isn't G1. It's meant to be an unflattering term.Brokebot wrote:As a devoted Geewunner, G1 toys make up less than half of my current collection.
Now wait a minute. All of those lines were full of, as you put it, "recreated characters". Armada Starscream was an honorable swordsman instead of a conniving backstabber. Energon Shockblast (trademark-friendly "Shockwave" rename) was a homicidal serial killer instead of a logically-minded military operations commander. Cybertron Soundwave was a laidback radio DJ type with a sinister streak instead of an emotionless spy. And RID Ultra Magnus was the polar opposite of G1 Ultra Magnus, being the arrogant and vindictive brother of Optimus Prime who was willing to murder him to get what he wanted, instead of a loyal City Commander. And all of those guys (save for Magnus) looked much closer to their G1 namesakes than Animated Motormaster looked like his.Brokebot wrote:I collected Armada, Energon, Cybertron, RID,
