I like this mold, though I have no interest in Artfire. I guess I'll have to hunt for a Nightstick to give to Cyclonus once this is released.

I'm hoping that Hauler is next for this mold. That I would get.

I really wish that they re-released the Classics 2.0 Nightstick since that figure could've probably pegged into the hand properly. At the very least they could've used a Battle Master or Takara Legends Targetmaster with one barrel, such is life. Funny aside, the only version of the Masterpiece Inferno mold I own is Artfire, never got a chance to transform it yet.

Redecos have been a a thing since Transformers even existed. It's a way to maximise profits, as usual.

Yay, Artfire, an interesting one from this mold finally! I wasn't expecting him to come with his Targetmaster, so the fact that he does is a welcome surprise even if I'm not that attached to him having to have it. Getting blast effects with him is certainly a nice bonus. This is probably a decent indication he may be available on Friday, I would HOPE finally as a return to Selects actually being immediately in stock again like they use to be but he'll probably be yet another preorder for October/November since that's all that happens these days. Cool to see him nonetheless.

They said that they find Hauler to be a good repaint but not Artfire, so I'm assuming their issue is that Artfire is still partially the same color as Inferno...but saying the only use of the mold who isn't just one solid color is lazy is still a weird take.

He looks really nice, but I'll just stick with the older one I have no room to display.

But he does look really nice.

I'm hoping they do wind up making Hauler. There's no Neo G1 version of him and he's one of the last characters not to have a toy.

Nemesis Reformatted wrote:I'll never understand why everybody goes nuts over Artfire. It's not even a good repaint. It's just Inferno with some white bits. A full repaint like Hauler makes sense to me. But Artfire looks incredibly lazy like they weren't even trying. It looks like a prototype Inferno where some of the parts haven't been molded in the final colors yet.

To answer it:

News Story wrote:For those who aren't aware, Artfire is a character who originated in the Japanese G1 continuity. His toy was released in 1987 as repaint of Inferno in the Headmasters toyline. This will be his first toy to be released outside of Japan.

It's more the status of the character, rather than the toy representing him. Being Japan-exclusive, his regular toys command big bucks and are hard to come by, ESPECIALLY with his original toy being a tail-ender and thus even rarer than normal. So having a version of him, released by Hasbro at a much more reasonable price and a (relatively) more accessible venue, of course people will go bonkers.

So, first time Artfire is not Japan exclusive.
Nice!
This bid well for other Nippon exclusives.

Yup. And about time too, his cohort Stepper/Ricochet got plenty of Hasbro toys ever since his first Hasbro reissue back in 2004. And even before that, he got an homage in Car Robots in the form of Spychanger Artfire, released as RiD Hot Shot in the US. All G1 Artfire got was being on the shortlist for a US reissue, and an exclusive United release.

I'm gonna wait on a Stepper, or see if I stumble across a United one, before diving into Artfire.

Looks like Pulse finally released Artfire for pre-order (as well as a few other sites). I checked right at 10am (PST) because that's when these things usually drop, and then got distracted by other things, I guess it's more of an "around" that time, or whenever they get to it ;) .

The price was surprisingly lower than I expected. $36.99 is really in line with the $30 Voyager and $6 Battlemaster pricing with the extra dollar covering the extra blast effects. Ordered with another Transmutate to get free shipping, and I'll cancel Transmutate tomorrow.

Can't we just order 2 Artfires and cancel 1? Does it have to be a different figure?

Any order over $50 will get you free shipping. But I think TF-fan (like me), may have had Transmute on a separate order by itself which didn't have free shipping. Combining them both together gets that done, and cancelling the previous order eliminates the extra shipping charge on another order.

If you order 2 Artfires in a single order just to put it over $50, then later cancel one, I'm not sure if the Free Shipping will still apply (The same could be said for any multi-item order where you cancel items and then total goes back below $50)...

Glad you asked, no you can't. You cancel the item and if it is just multiples, then you can only cancel all or none.

I ran into that with Tricranius. Thankfully that didn't sell out and I ordered another with SG Starscream on Friday and cancelled my original order with 2 Tracranius.

I actually have an individual Transmutate on order that was my last official Premium free shipping order made just before the free Premium membership they gave in Feb 2018 finally ran out. So I'm keeping that one out of silliness since it qualifies all on its own.

I did have to play musical orders with Tricranius (see above), but Transmutate has been my goto free shipping add on then cancel bot from Pulse. At least that is until she is a little closer to shipping, then I'll choose someone with a date further back.

From my experience so far, once the order is made with free shipping the shipping never changes regardless of what is canceled.

What happens if you combine preorders for two items schedule for different release times? Will they ship them separately upon each release date, or will they wait to ship the first one until the second one comes in?

And how do they go about charging for the two items set to be released on different dates? Wait until the second one comes into to charge for both, or charge them separately as each comes in?

Items ship individually as they are released.

items are charged as they ship, usually a couple of days prior to actual pickup by Fedex.

Transformers Generations Selects Artfire Officially Revealed; Preorders Live

Postby Bounti76 » Tue May 25, 2021 4:14 pm

Weapon: Vibro-Axe
He's been an open "secret" for a while now, having had pictures leaked since at least last week. But now, Artfire has been officially revealed! Thanks to Hasbro for the information and pictures. Artfire was a Japanese-exclusive Targetmaster who came with his partner Nightstick, in the Headmasters toyline. Just as he did then, Artfire is due to be released in the Generations Selects line with Nightstick, in late summer/early fall.

Transformers: Generations Selects Voyager WFC-GS26 Artfire and Nightstick

(Ages 8 and Up / Approx. Retail Price: $34.99 / Available: September 1, 2021)

This ARTFIRE figure is inspired by the original 1987 TARGETMASTER figure and comes with his TARGETMASTER partner, NIGHTSTICK, like in the original release. Fans can attach the blast effects to the NIGHTSTICK figure in blaster mode, and the ARTFIRE firetruck mode features an extendable ladder that can be ratcheted to different angles. The WFC-GS26 Voyager ARTFIRE figure stands at 7 inches tall, converts from robot mode to firetruck mode in 18 steps, and comes with shoulder blaster, blaster and 2 removable fire hose accessories, plus 4 blast effects.

Fans can take their TRANSFORMERS figure collections to the next level with Generations Selects, a fan-dedicated line of figures featuring fan-favorite, special edition characters you can’t find in the main line (each sold separately, subject to availability). Available at most major toy retailers and for pre-order on Entertainment Earth beginning May 25, 2021 at 1PM ET

Got to love when the PR people don't remember their own previous releases, such as about a price increase, and so release a PR piece that is already incorrect as they don't adjust the price.

And because of the price I am not certain I will get Artfire as I already have Grapple and Inferno and my connection to this character is pretty close to non-existent.
