Well, to be fair, Sky lynx always carried the "Lynx" part as a cargo pod under the shuttle...

But it was detachable so that you could have a shuttle all by itself (that could also transform on its own too). That G1 toy is awesome!

Indeed. It is one aspect of the CW version that I (and many others!) do not like. If only they could have separated....

And if only I had a million dollars.... :HALUC:

I didnt have skylynx, any version. So when I saw what this new toy was and that it wasn't much of an update over the original, I went and bought the encore. I might still enjoy this mold though, but as Liokaiser.
I have been having a blast with that encore. It offers all the playability I could want and it scales well with a bunch of G1 scenarios.

I played with Sky Lynx at a friend's house. It was a cool toy.

My only complaint with Sky Reign is the combiner head. I wish it had a proper face like Leokaiser. Still, if the video review looks good I may get him anyway.

Now, see, the combiner head is my favorite element. I understand that it's an acquired taste, but it nicely homages the lynx (and makes the torso the 'lynx mode', quite an upgrade if you ask me :michaelbay: )

But, my love of Egyptian mythology, beast-formers, and the love of all things awesome are swaying my opinion...

The dragstrip mold, as an arm, has almost no articulation at the shoulder as the shoulder chunk gets obstructed by the kibble on the menasor/o/p mold and hotspot/onslaught mold thus making it a very poor arm mode >:oP

just wondering if it would work

Maybe it would work. You'd just have to swap the inner ratchets I guess.

from what I've read Battle Core Optimus Prime (Voyager Class, 2015) had the hip problem fixed that was a problem with Optimus Prime (Voyager Class, 2015). that is why I am wondering.
and no I do not own either figure... yet!

This is correct. The wave with G1 colored Optimus and Motormaster both had the bad hip configuration. The wave with Battle Core OP and Motormaster both have the fixed hip. (I own all of them, so yup, I own two Motormasters, with the early bad hip version remaining in truck mode, probably forever...)

So since you own both have you tried swapping hip joints? or are the molds slightly different to not allow a hip replacement?

Video Review - Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Sky Lynx

Courtesy of fellow Seibertronian Survivefan23, who linked us to the YouTube clip by chefatron, we have a full video review of the upcoming Voyager from the Transformers Combiner Wars line Sky Lynx - in his new torso mode for Sky Reign, regular chatterbox bird-creature-dino-thing (no actual lynx included this time), and shuttle with massive undercarriage. You can take a look directly below, as we have embedded the video for your viewing pleasure!

Hasbro got too cheap with the wings. Otherwise it's a nice figure. But its true strength lies in torso mode. Unfortunately the Lynx head is an acquired taste, and I have not acquired it. Yet... :-?

What you see as a problem with dragstrip, I instead see as a problem with the Menasor and Defensor/Bruticus torso.

I haven't as yet. I prefer BC Prime with the good hips and don't intend to ever combine OP, so the hips are good in that fashion. I don't see why it wouldn't work, though.

Chefatron's Sky Reign review went up two hours ago. I was concerned regarding the stability of Sky Lynx as a torso. Now I know the figure is a floppy mess. Poses great but plays poorly. Oh well, more money saved for me.

Really? I have no issue with him as an arm hindering shoulder movement...maybe we transform him differently in arm mode?

And Sky Lynx as an individual is cool but not totally wow, but combined mode HOLY SCRAP THAT THING IS BEAUTIFUL!!!! :BOT:

I wish there was a way to separate the two parts like on the old toy. Doesn't look there would've been too much work involved. Just some pegs and holes between the Bird and Lynx. The Bird doesn't even need leg pieces to work.

I'd really like to see Sky Reign scrambled differently. Maybe with Mirage, Prowl, or Ironhide in the mix. I'm used to asymmetric colors on combiners, but there should be some colors shared back and forth, and there's really nothing there that ties Trailbreaker and Hound in with the rest of the team, and given that it looks like a good bit of Sky Reign's stability issues come from Hound being especially heavy compared to the others, I don't see much point in using him there.
Check out my books, Titanomachies and Divine Retribution, on my blog!
