People wouldn't argue that Robots in Disguise 2015 is a cartoon toy line, so why are people so read to jump on the idea that Generations is a comic toy line? Hasbro might make the figures, but it's IDW giving them a story.

I still feel its more like comparing apples and oranges. Alpha Bravo was confirmed by hasbro to be their creation (same with all the new combiner members) and is not an interpretation of his comic book counterpart. And the Gen Orion Pax toy we got looked nothing like Orion Pax in the comics. Generations Kup too. And most of the toys that have robot modes inspired by the comics have alt modes that are not like what is seen in the comics like Swerve and Blurr. I just really dont see Generations being a comic book line as much as RID is a cartoon line.

Sometimes Hasbro designs a toy and tells IDW to feature it.
Sometimes IDW designs a character and Hasbro decides to make a toy of it.
Generations utilizes the comics but it's not based on them completely.

Yes he did. He resembled the Orion Pax that appeared in the 2008 "Spotlight: Blurr" comic. This is what Orion Pax was originally supposed to look like in the comics, but then later issues either didn't get the memo, forgot, or ignored it and just used the pre-Earth Optimus Prime design for Orion Pax, thereby forcing the new "Spotlight: Orion Pax" comic to retcon the "Spotlight: Blurr" design into being a temporary body form that Orion adopted for a short while before switching back to his true form.

Generations Kup too.

Like I said, the Generations line began with being independent from the comics, and Kup was a product of that comic-free pre-FOC era. It wasn't until the Thrilling 30 toys that we really started to see the comics and toyline working together.

Really pleased I pre-order him now. Really like the Galvatronus torso, although I'm not too keen on using Aerialbots for his limbs. I was planning on just swapping out Motormaster and using the Stunticons limbs with Galvatronus, which means I can also display Motormaster in robot mode.

Once we get more teams, I want to see Galvatronus with a member of each team. That'll be neat.

Seeing things like Optimus and Cyclonus makes we wish we could get not special team based limbs or maybe Limb gift sets with repaints/retools, so we don't have to use things like the Stunticon or Aerialbots limbs.

I won't be happy until Hasbro releases a four-pack of sweeps-limbs, each with a piece of an arm cannon for Galvatronus to hold... sigh

We are still missing a couple of limbs from Defensor, in terms of reviews, but the smallest Protectobot of the Transformers Generations Combiner Wars line has its own clip, thanks to regular YouTube reviewer peaugh. I really like the look of First Aid with the exception of the backpack. I also like Blades, because he's a retool of the Amazing Alpha Bravo, but neither of them are my main priorities. That honor goes to Hot Spot, Groove, and Rook.

Sort of yes. If they're going with Fake Menasor then they've still got sort of a unifying team thing going on, but they're also not characters who are usually part of a combiner, so it goes both ways. It's certainly more random than the Aerialbots, Stunticons, or Protectobots, I grant you that.

Thanks man! I actually think they were never going for fake menasor, its just that a lot of autobots are cars and thus the stunticons are the best molds to reuse (although they could be reusing the retools of the protectobots too, which doesnt really make it fake menasor anymore). I think this was just a fun idea to make the most of this line and the molds and to attract kids and parents to the idea since they are more conscious of Optimus than any other character in this line. It's a calculated decision to them but not really a theme for hardcore fans, hence why it looks more random and "fun" to me.

I don't see why, because all of the Protectobots look fantastic.
