It's essentially the same kind of compromise that Hasbro has done with the designs for a numbers of CHUG figures, in which cases these figures were all sculpted to be very fiction-accurate (be it to the G1 cartoon or the IDW comics) in robot mode, while their altmodes were instead given more liberties to their looks. Mixmaster's altmode may be different, but his robot mode and leg mode are sculpted to be near-straight up G1.
Other molds that received this kind of compromise treatment include the following:
- Classics Deluxe Astrotrain
- Universe Legends Brawn
- Universe Legends Beachcomber
- Universe Deluxe Cyclonus
- Generations Thrilling 30 Legends Bumblebee
- Generations Thrilling 30 Legends Swerve
- Generations Thrilling 30 Legends Tailgate
- Generations Thrilling 30 Deluxe Trailcutter
- Generations Thrilling 30 Deluxe Orion Pax
- Generations Thrilling 30 Deluxe Skids
- Generations Thrilling 30 Deluxe Tankor
- Generations Thrilling 30 Voyager Springer
- Generations Thrilling 30 Leader Jetfire
