It is, but really hard for me to get to, travel-wise. :(
As far as I know, it's the same deal as the UK one, and anyone can get in (though with different permissions). Dead Metal might have more details on that.

It is, though, the biggest event in Europe for the industry, as it covers all markets that are not the UK - not technically true, but that seems to be the case.

In terms of news, there have been some things coming out of it, but nothing gigantic (heh).

The way I understand it it's a mostly private event, reserved for businesses and the press. The NY Toy Fair, SDCC and BotCon are where the major public reveals take place.

Would the press report on devastator?

Doubtful, unless there is a press release from Hasbro GmbH or EU. I'm keeping an eye out for those. ;)

I am majorly hyped for this. For one thing, it's goddamn Devastator getting a proper toy at last, and secondly, even if I don't like it then chances are Hercules is gonna nosedive in price and I can pick him up for super cheap.

In any case I'm confident this guy will be awesome.

I want this, but it's unlikly I'll get one. I'll have to savr up and justify the purchase. Dang. Just going by the pic, it looks like the devastator I've been waiting for
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.
TFCon List: Classics Skywarp, General Optimus, BW Airrazor, Transmetal Tarantulus, Alternity Prime, Fire Convoy

Bigger than Omega Supreme, but smaller than Metroplex. If you stack up a voyager standing up and two more on their sides on top of that, you don't get anything nearly as tall as Metroplex. Even a Leader with a voyager stacked on top isn't as tall.

Looks G1 inspired. Glad to see that the Devastator designers aren't drinking the IDW Kool-aid... probably because there was none left.

Okay, here is my quick and dirty estimation of the height of Generations Devistator. Assuming the man in the picture is of average height for an adult human male, 5'10", the Devistator in the picture is about one fourth the height of the man, or 1'5.5" tall, up to the top of Devistator's head. That's quite a bit shorter than Metroplex at just over 2'0". If you count the crane arm behind his left shoulder, then we're talking about 1'11.3", still shorter than Metroplex, but not by much. I'd say the scale is pretty good. Devistator should be a BEAST, but he will still be much smaller than Metroplex. He'll be a good rival for Platinum Edition Omega Supreme. :)

Metroplex was pretty, but there really wasn't much to him but height. As long as he's in scale with the other combiners, it doesn't really matter if he's as tall as a city. He shouldn't be, anyway.

YES! That's what I wanted.

This is becoming less of a fantasy and more of a reality

Also, that means he will be a better match since he will be bigger than the third party toys!

What's on the shelf directly under Bluestreak? It's sporting a decepticon logo and looks too small for the coneheads

Yes, Devastator shouldn't be as tall as Metroplex, and it looks like he indeed won't be. I think you misunderstood me when I said Devastator should be a "beast" but not nearly as tall as Metroplex. I want him to be about on par with Omega Supreme, which it seems will be the case.
