Nope.
Maybe we will gt a decent script written after the strike. If they had have tried to rush it through we would've gotten tripe.

here's hoping the striker's take a page from GM and the automaker strikers...

How do you plan a strike? Easy.
"We demand an increase in pay and if we don't get it we'll strike from <insertdate>"
Bunch of saps? Strike is BS? No they're not and no it isn't. None of us know what a writer gets paid but considering how much money movies and tv shows are making these days I don't see why the writers (you know, the people who actually give the directors and actors something to work with) shouldn't be entitled to a bigger share of the profits.

The writers are striking for very legitimate reasons. They are getting a fair share of profits on DVDs and internet streaming. Those deals were based on VHS profits... and now things have exploded.
I hardly think they are saps. They want what they are entitled to.
But it does make it a rough ride for those of us who like good TV shows and movies.

Oh well, I'm not going to sweat it too much, though I like the fact that Transformers is in the maintream public eye, I can wait. I was worried about them rushing out the sequel anyways, I'm thinking this'll get worked out soon.

i think the same can be said about movies and more so for the Transformers movie..and as script writer of stories myself...dont rush'em, cuz rushing things slams it right into crapsvile! so... lets try to look on the bright side
T-Macksimus wrote:According to what I had heard on the news, this strike was not supposed to be a massive "every writer jump ship all at once" movement but more set up to go in waves, with the TV writers going first then working it's way up to the motion picture writers.
Apparently, if the news clip was wrong, this would mean that the nightly news writers were the first to bail on us..
Burn wrote:Why are people hoping more time = better script?
It'll just be delayed ... they don't get more time to write it, in fact they'll either end up having to rush it to meet the original deadline or it'll just be set back the number of weeks the strike runs.

This whole situation seems to imply that there are a limited number of people capable of writing a script!

God! I´m freaking tired of people like you. I would understand if you didn´t like the movie and kept your opinion to yourself or see that other people enjoyed the movie. I hate Harry Potter with the intensity of a million suns but you don´t see me wishing the movies are cancelled and stuff.
I hate to breake that little fantasy world were you and others live, but there are people who enjoyed the movie you twit.

I suppose that makes sense. I wonder if the unions at strike are only those in the US? If so, why not give the project to writers from another country? Im sure the UK comic writers/script writers would like to give it a go.

In film writting there is a curse called the tunnel vison. that i noticed some in the industry get from time to time. Tom Cruse for example. It's where you become so isolated from real people that you forget that you are doing it for Sally and Jimmy Housecoat in Petoria Illinos. What this could do is give the writers more of a chance to get to know the fans better by surfing around and doing some reserch also when I write a script I find it better to revise it after I haven't looked at it for a couple of weeks and did something else.
