Yup! Could not have said so better myself.

Think about it guys, would any excuse fly for an MP BW Megatron to have some robot mode kibble in Beast Mode?!
What robot kibble are you guys seeing in that unfinished beast mode CG render? The feet?

Feet and butt cheeks

Wow... y'all are pretty unforgiving. I for one think it would be pretty difficult to hide every bit of robot in his beast mode. Engineering extra bits just as cover up pieces I feel would just add unnecessary steps and possibly make him look clunky.

Robot/gorilla feet look fine to me too.

I see a bulge on his back that every season 1 gorrilla Primal toy has had, but his butt's hidden from view behind his thighs.

And whatever's going on with the heels of his feet is too vague to really make out.

Mostly proportions:In Robot Mode the MP Primal is less top heavy, his forearms are more rounded and his legs are longer. Overall he is just a more accurate representation of the character as he appeared in the show.

I still have the original Primal toy somewhere, which I adore.

I really hope MP Primal is followed by other BW characters down the line. I was going to list the ones I would really want but that seems kind of pointless as the answer is all of them :-P

But here is my question, how is it more perfect than this:
Articulated fingers, more show-accurately sculpted thighs and hips, likely no intrusive gimmick that inhibits arm movement*, show-accurately-sculpted shoulder pads, likely no gorilla back kibble attached to his missile launchers, no unpaintable plastic light gray gorilla ears sticking out the sides of his darker-colored torso, no unpaintable plastic light gray elbows or shoulders, etc.

The RobotMasters/Telemocha Series/Legend Commander Collection mold fixed some, but not all, of these issues.

* - Seriously, the Ultra class Primal toy has no free arm movement. His arms are all tied to a gear-based gimmick that allows him to either beat his chest in beast mode or spin his sword-swinging arms around in robot mode. His arms can't freely move in any which way without somehow gutting the gimmick (which I did to mine). Otherwise, any which way one tries to move one of his arms will in turn cause his opposite arm to move in some random motion on its own.

Ok sunds good. Now here is my other question, would a generations version be that different from this MP? I am prety cure it wouldnt have arituclated figures but what would it be aside from that?

I ask because Gen Rhinox was one hell of an update over the original and doesnt seem that much inferior (at least in looks) over this MP Primal.

I just picture the price now of about 10000 Yen and wonder why it would cost that much.

Like with MP Magnus. It is a good toy, no argument there. But it was pretty easyto get Gen Magnus for 40$ while the MP was about 150$. Was the diffrence between the two woth at least 100$? Was the Gen Magnus a better deal for what you are getting to waht you are paying compared to MP Magnus? Or was the rice of MP Magnus perfectly linear in the function of quality/price?

I am pretty much thinking the same for Primal here.

This kind of question really just depends on how much one wants a show-accurate toy. Your MP Magnus vs. Generations Magnus is a good example of this. Generations Magnus is a good toy, but looks completely wrong for one who'd want a show-accurate version of Magnus, which the MP delivers on.

Likewise, for Generations Rhinox, it's a very good toy and the BW cartoon model inspiration is evident (meaning that it looks like Rhinox's show model enough for us to tell who it is), but there are a TON of tiny details all over the Gen Rhinox toy that are completely inaccurate to the show's animation model. This isn't the toy's fault, but is more due to the Generations (and Classics overall) line being more willing to take liberties with its toys' designs and aesthetics, making them look more like "updates" rather than the faithful recreations of the source material designs and looks that MPs usual tend to strive towards being.

So while Generations Rhinox and Ultra Manus are nice toys for what they are, both are far cries from what kind of show-accuracy one would expect from (and want) MP versions of them to have.

Fair enough Sabr! I guess for me, show accuracy is only a plus if it showcases wit in engineering (like Takara's UW Superion over Hasbro's). But show accuracy for the hell of it is not something I deem worth the extra chash I may drop.

It's interesting to read how important the beast modes are to you guys. It makes complete sense because it was really the first time the alt mode was treated like a character and had so much on screen presence versus vehicle alt modes which have very little screen time and are basically used in battle or to get from point A to B.

Maybe the Generations line is where it's at. I really liked the more "realistic" looking alt modes of Rattrap, Rhinox and Waspinator, though I was bummed that they just reused the 20 year old Beast Wars mold for Optimus Primal.

All of this talk about Beast Wars the past few weeks really has me wanting to sink my teeth into some new Beast Wars galleries!

It really truly would. Look at G Rattrap and Rhinox: liberties taken in bot mode (some major, some subtle) and beast modes certainly are not the cute cartoon models. This MP Primal evokes the cartoon model quite faithfully. A G Primal would likely have a pretty faithful bot mode, but more realistic angry king kong looking gorilla.

Has that been stated? I assumed his size and price would be more along the lines of the Autobot cars.

I think that's what I'm hoping for. And a proper Beast Megatron with a removable head and/or tail so that he can have fists underneath. My perfect Generations Beast Wars Megatron would have removable head and tail, which could be left on to emulate how he looks most of the time, and then the tail could transform into a fusion cannon looking thing to attach to his right arm and his t-rex head could splay out into a shield of some sort (which would look really cool with the teeth).

To be honest though, the fact that you can stand rattrap up and angle his head down - like in the show - had me over the moon, thats how I always keep him, screw the kibble

Just wanted to explain my state of mind. If he is priced like the autobot cars, it will be a very different story. I gave a similar speech when we learnt that Toysrus would have both MP Starscream and Leader Starscream at the same time. It all depended on the price. If it isnt that much more expensive to get this guy rather than the legends one then consider me on board :D

As for Magnus, I had not handled him, hence my question. I am happy you answered since that helps me understand. I am still very thankful we got a Gen magnus since I can still appreciate a version of him where the trailer and the cab transform together as one without having to spend more.

I get what you mean william-james88, about the price.

I got the Hasbro Devastator, I knew the TT version had been paint apps and Long Haul and Scrapper had better articulation but I knew I would want to keep my Devastator in combined form and so the difference was not worth the extra $100 it would have cost here to get the TT version.

Yeah, I think, until we get price and/or size references, it's pretty unfair to throw him under the bus; if I had to guess, I think it may scale with the gen figs maybe :-?

Unless, he's larger and TT is going to do the whole, core cast in a new scale :-?
