Unicron Trilogy? No, but Unicron is linked to all continuities at once so he has access to all of them. So him plucking Thrust and Breakdown from a non-G1 universe is easy for him.

The CR/RiD cartoon is weird: the Car Robots original is part of Japanese G1, but the US dub is in its own continuity. So Black Convoy and Baldigus appearing in G1 shouldn't come as a surprise (their counterparts Scourge and Ruination however...).

I will never be able to unsee the face on Megaempress' (and Pyra Magna's) stomach(s). That is hilarious.

So Wandering Roller was G1 cartoon Roller all along, he just resembled IDW Roller. Imagine that. :-P

Back to the eHobby universe I would assume, they clearly still had plans for Grand Scourge and now they get to play around with Galvatron II again. Maybe this will help setup their next series of exclusives?

Pretty much, yeah. Straxus could make him a new body. Boy would it piss Galvatron II off if he was stuck inside a tiny body that looked like Megatron. Thinking about it, Galvatron II being just a head in the UW comic would work out for him as a Headmaster (even if he left the comic as a ghost).

ricemazter wrote:So does this count as "THE" Japanese transformers continuity as far as most fans over there are concerned?
This is indeed the Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity proper, yes. It was the primary Transformers continuity for Japan from 1985-2002 before the creation of the Japanese Unicron Trilogy cartoon continuity (or as it is known to Japan, the Micron Trilogy), which took center stage from 2003-2005. The JG1 cartoon would continue to pop back up in Japan through Japanese comic materials both during the Micron Trilogy and afterward during other new continuities that have kept appearing and continue to come about in Japan, such as the movies, Animated, Prime/Go!/Adventure, etc. But even then, I'm pretty sure that the JG1 cartoon continuity is considered the most important one to longtime Japanese fans, as it keeps getting the most new additions to itself.

ricemazter wrote:Aside from Regeneration One and War for Cybertron, before the aligned continuity absorbed it that is,
Not that again. >:oP

ricemazter wrote:Does Beast Wars, the RiD cartoon, or the Unicron trilogy fit in anywhere?
I already mentioned that the Unicron Trilogy is a separate continuity from G1 in Japan, just as it is in the English-speaking world, so I'll skip that.

For Beast Wars, yes, the Japanese dub is part of the JG1 cartoon continuity.

By "the RiD cartoon" I presume you mean the 2001 one and not the current 2015-present one, yes? If so, only the original Japanese version of the 2001 RiD cartoon, Car Robots, is part of the JG1 cartoon continuity. The English dubbed version is a completely non-G1 continuity on its own. There are enough differences between the Japanese and English versions of that show that allow one to view them as separate entities.

That's definitely true for the Western side, but is the Eastern side going with it?

If so, e-Hobby and other exclusive sidestories are still considered part of the JP G1 continuity proper, in contrast to FunPub's G1-inspired stories which are either Classics, Wings, Beast Wars Uprising, or some other sandbox universe, not directly linked to (or rather, influencing) any Hasbro-established fiction.

Well, they're presumably still treating him (or at least, the JG1 version of him) as a god that can do whatever he wants (like pull people from other times and worlds as he does in these UW comics). But then again, lots of characters have experienced dimension-hopping via multiple means, godly or otherwise.

Cloud, mainly. Deadlock is from there and Grand Scourge is related to it so it's not like eHobby abandoned it when the line ended. It would be nice to see the loose story line between the two of them tied back up. Galvatron getting himself a Cloud body and trying to escape Grand Scourge would be interesting.

When Galvatron II explains his backstory, his word bubble in the panel that shows Trypticon refers to that Trypticon as "Dino-saurer [Dainozaurā], the first version of Dinosaurer [Dainazaurā]". This is reference to how, in Scramble City, Trypticon had a different animation model from the one he had in season 3 of the G1 cartoon, and how, in Scramble City, Trypticon was referred to as "Dino-saurer" (ダイノザウラー Dainozaurā) in Scramble City and "Dinosaurer" (ダイナザウラー Dainozaurā) in all other Japanese media. This is Sakamoto's attempting to explain why Trypticon's look and name were different in Scramble City from how his look and name were presented in everything else. Thus, he has now retconned the Trypticon from Scramble City to have been an earlier version from the one who appears to be created later in season 3 of the G1 cartoon.

Oh I see. He needed to do that because there were 2 spellings and looks to Dinosaurer. But in the west, we only had Trypticon so there would be no need to rectify anything. But since its a translation of a japanese only thing (which has no name in english) it got a bit tricky. Thanks!

In my head canon I always figured there were 2 versions of Trypticon anyway. The first appearing in Scramble City (I presume was made from the Decepticon HQ at the bottom of the ocean as it is never seen again), was destroyed in the unseen battle that would have taken place after SC. Then of course a few years later the cons' would build another Trypticon on earth, the one seen in FFOD. ;) .

Your theory on the Victory( Decepticon HQ) and Dinosaurer would have had merit (and most plausible imho as I like it too). But iirc, during the Destron scenes in Scramble City, Megs was like in the Victory calling the shots. Then again, a retcon could again be inserted by Sakamoto etc

And I just noticed the real difference in spelling:

Even though both are translated as "Dinosaurer", the current name is more like "Dynasaurer". :-?

I remember reading somewhere that in FFOD, the constructicons aren't building Trypticon, they're repairing him. So any differences in appearance could have been due to those repairs. At least until this retconned it all in.

Anyone else ever hear anything like that?

Sounds like one of those many fan theories people created trying to justify Trypticon's birth in that episode with his previous appearance in Scramble City.

Though, just now, I decided to watch Trypticon's debut scene in the Japanese dub of FFOD Part 4 to see if I could make out whether they treated the scene as his birth (like in the English version) or as something else. And, while there is a ton of new dialogue and narration telling us what's going on in the scene, I couldn't tell what, if any, new information was being said.

It was like they (the Constructicons) built Trypticon II/DinosaurerII (if we follow the last UW manga) in the middle of a city unless the JP version was presented differently.

in SC The Decepticons were seen in Decepticon HQ for some of the episode, but from the point where Trypicon appears it is not seen, so it is plausible, if you ignore the fact that an undertaking like that would take probably years to achieve, not just a few minuets

Or Megatron and his crew could have been inside Trypticon the whole time, I mean he does transform into a city and a battle station after all

All signs seem to point towards no. However I believe the pattern in the past has been for a silhouette to be revealed shortly before the official release of the next UW. Megatronia is supposed to be out in about 2 weeks. If we see nothing by the time its released It say that's a definite no. That is fine with me, for now since there is a perfect balance in the UW/CW collection I am building, another release would throw that balance off.

My greater concern is that with the reveal of the next line after TR as "Power Of the Primes" is that the fan speculated release of Beast themed combiners using the CW/UW system will not happen. TT would no doubt rebrand those and return to the UW format...but now I fear it may not happen at all. :-s
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I never got behind the fan speculation of beast themed bots myself. Hasbro was pretty clear when asked about beast themed bots that they felt they already covered that in RID. And plus we have beast themed bots already available or anounced with skylynx, Trypticon, all the casette bots, Sentinel Prime, and all the animal deluxes.

So they have a bunch of beasts already and I guess thigns will stay constant as long as its G1 themed.

^That is true, but I think most fans were hoping for Predaking, Abominus, etc...Now I've yet to purchase any 3rd party toys. But if anyone developed a combiner team that copied and was compatible with the CW/UW system, I'd probably go for that. As was revealed to me previously a 3rd party Motormaster was released that did just this. Of course I think there are already several 3rd party versions of said characters, doing them yet again when there are so many others to choose from would probably not happen.

The whole "beast combiners maybe coming later" thing is because of what happened at the Hasbro Panel at BotCon this year:

Fan question: Even though Combiner Wars is coming to an end, will you possibly revisit it? I’m sure about 75% of the fans here would love to see you do the animal combiners like Predaking or Abominus.

John Warden: That’s a very good question. I hear you. So, let me put it back out to the fans. Would you want to see more Combiners Wars in 2018?
