Some sort of meta-homage? Various ut figure homages combining to homage g1 toy galvatron... He even has the two-toned cannon... man he does seem a little out there...
I like it, seriously might pre-order this

I wonder if it's an intentional mish-mash of loosely Unicron related characters?
Torso looks to be based on Galvatron's G1 toy, with the prominent white/lavender. You've got G1 Starscream on the right arm, and he (pretended to) helped Unicron in the Cartoon. Left arm looks like Armada Thrust, who was convinced by Sideways to work for Unicron. Right Leg might be Animated Soundwave? Cybertron Soundwave worked for Unicron, so maybe it's a loose connection?
As for the Left Leg, the only character I know of with that balance of white and red/orange was the 2007 Movie figure Wreckage, who also transformed into that type of vehicle. Although he has zero to do with the big yellow devilbot, so I don't know.

Man, those painted rims really do a world of good for these figures, I hate that hasbro has cheaped out on paint so much that they can't even paint the rims on their figures
Combined mode still looks like garbage with all that molded detail washed out

There's a rim job joke somewhere around here.
Yeah, somebody sig'ed a good one a while back
You gonna do galleries for the uw guys - or, at least, defensor, bruticus, and whatever this guy is, since they'll all be 'new'?

Whoever they are, I'm now interested in them. Guess I ought to start setting some aside for Galvatronus (if that even is his name).
I do like the theory that each part of the combined mode has some sort of association with Unicron.
Yeah, it's a lot more interesting/relevant/proper than making up some bullsh!t excuse for not giving him his own limbs (especially with two whole sets of dumb '84 limbs in the line)

I'm planning on it but probably only after UW Devastator and other new molds that are out currently. Not until after the new year unfortunately.
That's cool, no need to feel rushed on my account, besides, with yuki having tweeted about bigroove most of the last half a year, we've seen about everything there is to see of him. Still wouldn't mind a junkion two-pack of him
(could you please name deluxe grooves gallery 'Bigroove'?)

The apparent steel blue/silver gradient makes me think of Movie Megatron's early toys.
Mindmaster wrote:I do like the theory that each part of the combined mode has some sort of association with Unicron.
Starscream was killed by a Unicron-powered Galvatron, Thrust was killed by Unicron's shoulder transforming... hell, Megatron could be considered "killed" to create Galvatron... who else was indirectly killed by Unicorn?

Weapon: Saber Blade
The torso seems to be G1 Galvatron's toy colors, with the right arm being in G1 Starscream's cartoon colors, but then there's the weird notion of the left arm being in Armada Thrust colors, while the right leg could be practically any Decepticon who was a solidly dark blue truck (Prime Breakdown?), and then there's the left leg Rook mold in colors that belong to NO ONE obvious or recognizable, which is bizarre considering how slavish TakaraTomy is with their UW toy decos.

Yeah, the only figure that I can think of that has those colors of white brown and orange would be armada hoist; but who would cyclonus be in those colors? That botcon pirate guy?

I thought of that, and it's a very out-there idea, but it's all I got.
With the torso being G1 Galvatron's gray toy colors, that would make the Cyclonus modes of the toy also be gray, right? That wouldn't make sense for Cyclonus, but would make sense for Megatron. Now, you might be thinking "But Megatron didn't turn into Cyclonus's jet mode." He did once. In this:
As obscure and unlikely as it is (as I don't think anyone would expect this short to be even remotely on Takara's radar), it's all I got to make sense out of a gray Cyclonus jet mode becoming a gray Galvatron combiner torso.

I think it more likely that they went into this project wanting a galvatron torso in toy colors - the combined mode and theme of the limbs seems to be the main point of the combiner, so cyclonus will suffer the side effects.
But there's no reason that they couldn't cross the grey with the off-white of energon megs and compromise with the torso being energon megs... I wonder if any of the heads are being changed? If so, then there might be more new parts for cylonus too

Weapon: Dark Saber Sword
As far as who the Rook-alike (pun intended and relished) might be, I've got a couple guesses, unlikely as they are: Universe (2003) Sunstorm's Minicon partner, Inferno, and Universe (2003) (again) Stockade (who was technically a Child of Primus and not a Herald of Unicron, but it was the closest thing I could find).

Alright, I'll take that theory.

Would they remold Cyclonus's nosecone to resemble the front end of Prime Megatron?
Or maybe they can remold to look like Energon Megatron?
The other thought I had was whether they could paint the top side of the mold purple to preserve Cyclonus in alt mode, with a grey underbelly. But, then Cyclonus would be grey in his chest area in bot mode, right?

That leg that has people stomped reminds me of bludgeon.
Also big qiestion for you guys, if the club (or hasbro proper) did this instead of takars, would there be as much excitement or would it be groan city?

I would be groaning ONLY for the exorbitant price that would undoubtedly accompany it.
I liked and wanted the tfcc combiner from next year, and I also want tripredacus, I'm just not willing to shell out that kind of cash for what would ostensibly be repaints - sorry, mold fatigue forbids it
If hasbro did it (Undoubtedly with about 1/4 the amount of paint TT seems to be using), I would be all over them
Need me more combiner 's

I just got MP Starscream, but I would still like combinable versions of the Seekers, so Starscream would be neat, at least.

Also, can't believe it's taken this long to finally get a seeker limb, you would'a thought, with the way hasbro has been milking the seeker image, that seeker limbs would have popped up already
