After all, I really do prefer to collect Autobots and that Quickswitch deco didn't score any points with me. Do we have any release date for this figure?

Both are tentatively set for March 2018, and are exclusive to TakaraTomy Mall.

Once again, I'm going to stick up for Titans Return Quickswitch. Yes, Hasbro could have done more remolding, but he at least has his own face, which is the most important part of any character's appearance. The paint job, though, really sells it. In hand, Quickswitch is gorgeous, and there are tons of little alterations you can make to the transformations, especially in robot mode, to make Quickswitch look more like his G1 toy self and less like a simple Sixshot redeco. That said, Greatshot looks GORGEOUS, and I hope Takara eventually gives us Sixknight too.

The Fans Project version is SO much better, plus you can use fan-modes to make it look even closer to the G1 toy. They even have his "brother", and both can be found pretty cheap, too. Normally, I wouldn't promote FP molds these days, but they are light-years in front of the recoloured Hasblo version:

I have seen both going for around 40 dollars in sales at various sites, but 70 dollars isn't so bad. Both are a steal.

Well, these are Takara exclusives that Hasbro has never done, so you can just buy these without guilt!

He is probably referring to all the other Legends figures in this thread that we newsed at the same time, like Seaspray and company.
And there are tons of reasons to buy Hasbro figures. Cheaper cost for one, but also you get more for what you pay, even if you are in Japan by comparison. For instance, while the Hasbro version of Topspin and Twintwist do not come with the targetmasters, their price point is about 10$ less AND you get exclusive titan master compatible guns that Takara will never get. Also, Takara sells things together in this line so the sale model is not very comparable. Lets say you already have the Hasbro Lione then you are stuck paying for him again when you buy Legends Seaspray.
So with hasbro you are given the option to buy just what you want in your collection instead of feeling compelled to buy one figure just because it comes with something else you want.
That is besids the point that takara can easily cost you double the cost of a hasbro figure depending on where you are located.
Case in point, Hasbro Kup cost me $13 while Takara Kup would cost me $40 (maybe even more).

I'm assuming some of the big online retailers/importers have a way to get around this. I'm not too concerned about 2,000 orders happening.
The fact that the previous legends reissues did not pass the treshold asked for tells me that its just TTMall. If there was a way to get around it through other retailers, then there would be enough demand for nothing to have been cancelled, which wasnt the case.

I read that about the sales and that might be true. I also wouldn't normally recommend Fans Project stuff. However, compared to the Hasbro offering, it's SO much better, especially if you can get it cheaply. If you look around, you might find either of them for around 40 dollars, which is a worth it.
If you're not interested in any third party figures, and you want these characters, you're going to have to pucker up and (ironically) part MORE for them (including a version that isn't really that true to the original toy).
That said, I'm not going to pursue this in this forum, as it is about these official figures. However, people have got fairly cheap(er) options right now, so there's less reason to moan!

Better example : with Takara's version of Kup, you don't get the guns which can form his jetpack.

Those aren't Transformers toys though!
