Is it just me or does it look like the pic of Fort Max they're using seem to be an early prototype before the got the Metroplex parts cast in new colors?

Yes, it looks like they're using the Hasbro prototype for that one. Blaster is likely their own prototype, being the earliest numbered in this set and therefore the most recent release and furthest into production. The rest are Hasbro's figures with or without the new parts, using grayscale photos to keep fans from jumping to conclusions.

I wish Hasbro would announce figures at such an early stage as this, it would be harder to spoil us with rumors that way.

I was hoping Fort Max would at least give us news on any weapons coming with him, but I guess the wait continues.

If you notice, it has a screw in its body. Unscrew that, take the arms and legs off, and screw it back in, and you have a better proportioned Scourge head.

I just looked. Those arms are on a ball joint. You won't be able to just take them off with unscrewing the body.

Well, one thing's for sure. Hayato Sakamoto is going to be telling the story of how all these non-Headmaster characters become Headmasters in the Japanese G1 cartoon continuity.

So far there's been no fiction given to Hasbro's figures (not yet, at least), but Sakamoto confirmed at BotCon that he'll be using the Legends manga to tell the Japanese story of the Takara figures.

Or if you mean in a real world sense why Hasbro's Titan Master class figures are bodyless heads, it because the Titan Master class figures are meant to be affordable replacement heads for the Deluxe/Voyager/Leader toys' heads in case any of those heads get lost or broken, even if the ones we've seen so far aren't the same characters as the larger figures.

Yeah, I think the whole losing the head deal was why Hasbro was so loath to do Headmasters again up until now. Maybe the Titanmaster class was how they internally justified going against that policy? At any rate, it shouldn't be a problem for any adult collector. Just don't let your kids play with your toys...er...collectibles!

Though, Hasbro was asked at BotCon about bodies for the Titan Master class heads, to which John Warden gave this (non-)answer:

There’s no hard rule about it, it’s more of a case by case thing. We wanted to at least get full figures for the original main Headmasters, but there’s also a vast pool of characters to pull from. It does give us an opportunity to do more obscure characters, but it’s always a possibility. We just cannot confirm or deny anything at this time.

All of these original 8 headmasters will have a new head to match up with the Japanese headmaster series. And if\when scorpinok comes along, Megazarak will also have a new one.

From zooming in it looks like the takara head actually looks like the box art of the hasbro head while the actual hasbro head looks nothing like the art. The hasbro head actually looks like combiner wars strafe.

Japanese online retailer e-Hobby has brought us an update to the grey images we posted a couple of days back, featuring the upcoming figures in the Takara Tomy Transformers Legends line, in full colour! Figures included in the update are LG27 Blaster, LG28 Rewind, LG29 Wheelie, LG30 Weirdwolf/Wolfwire and LG31 Fortress Maximus! Check out the mirrored images below.

These look perfect! Weirdwolf looks much better with his proper head. The color layout is pretty much spot on to the animation models for Headmasters. Blaster looks great! Again, all the attention to detail pays off, even his dot in his tape deck chest window! Rewind's face looks more animation accurate. Wheelie's got his colors in all the right places. The clear plastic dome works much better than Hasbro's smoky gray one. Fortress Maximus looks pretty much perfect. It's a nice representation of his on screen colors without the overly drab pallet of the original Hasbro computer renders and the somewhat overly saturated colors of Hasbro's production models of the same. Glad I have these all pre-ordered!

Would the SDCC version from Hasbro Toy Shop be cheaper if you live in the states and want the sword? Importing a beast liek Fort Max can get pretty pricey.
